  1. Nothing has been elaborated in any texts about it that I've read. It's probably best to consider that moving panel as nothing more than something that provides better aerodynamics in Fighter form - as it slides forward and covers up the outer side of the knee joints in that form. Not sure if it improves stealthiness drastically, but there's probably an improvement there, too.
  2. Probably because M3 was released after it. VF-X -> VF-X2 -> Macross M3
  3. ER/RM++ Project: Mechanic: 7 Varohta 01B: Fz-109 Erugaazorun: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M7 - I was quite surprised at the number of changes on this sheet. I think the biggest shift (aside from changing to the more readable Fz-109) is that the VF-14 variant that appeared in M7+ has returned to official status (in the sense of an official alternate specification). Complete: Mechanic: M UN 14A: ARMD: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#SDFM - only a few changes, and I fixed a few translation errors and clarified a few spots.
  4. Paper-mâché?
  5. The VFMF books have implied that a part of OTM is refining the tolerances in manufacturing. So, some of those gains in bullet velocity may be attributable to more efficient use of the gasses that propel the bullet.
  6. ER/RM++ Project: Episode: 7 17A: Macross 7 Eps. 17 "Pretty Devil": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7 - some interesting insight into the series. Physica's story is definitely heartrending.
  7. ER/RM++ Project: Glossary 09A: Kim Saint Laurent ~ Quadoran-Roh: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRglossary/MCRglossary.php - loaded with goodies. Most interesting is the changes to not only the names, but some of the details of the Ghost fighters. But it begs the question: what happened to the unmanned fighter-bomber "Super Bird" series and was that ever really part of the Macross background? Episode: M13A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 13 "Blue Wind": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - again, no mention of the near death of the series. The only clue this time is the two week break between broadcasts. Was that because of the usual New Years preemption of regular programming, or something else? The sheet doesn't say (but I suspect that it's the former).
  8. The 5 posts by bruiciadiofob preceding this one are spam (for those that can't figure it out from the links in them, its talking about dress shirts and A and B-grade brand goods).
  9. I think its possible, as they're covering the characters, mechanics and some parts of the stories for the PS1 and SS games. Things from some of the other games do get occasionally mentioned, but only if they add something not already present in another series, etc.. So I'm guessing the same criteria will apply to the Macross 30 game.
  10. ER/RM++ Project: Mechanic: M UN 10A: MBR-07-MkII Spartan: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#SDFM - odd, Tenjin's not credited on the sheet for the art. The RM was also completely rewritten. Kinda interesting to see them back to back.
  11. Nope. Not surprising as it wasn't about Max or his magic monocles.
  12. ER/RM++ Project: Timeline 22A: The Battle 2 Years After (M): http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - the "True Identity Of The Inspection Forces" is a bit of a let down. It winds up with a "and this is what we're told in M7" and then ends with "but its just one of many theories". At least the My-clone device RM is more informative, and confirms that what we saw Max do in DYRL isn't just limited to the movie version. Technology 02A: Unmanned Aircraft: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/MCRtechnology.php - some interesting stuff. Wish I could polish it off this week. Nevertheless, this sheet and Glossary 09 (which I'm also working on) have changed the names/designations of the Macross Zero Ghosts. This sheet doesn't change anything but the names. At least one of their entries was rewritten on the Glossary sheet. Maybe that'll clarify what's up with those changes.
  13. Complete! Heroine Gallery: Sheryl Nome x VF-11MAXL Kai / Sheryl Nome x YF-19: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRheroine/MCRheroine.php - I like the VF-11MAXLK Kai, as it really captures the energy of Sheryl and Mylene. The b-side is, well, one of those classic images produced by a b-grade manga artists (stiff pose, some unnecessary lines that call attention to themselves, etc.).
  14. Thanks for the images of the VF-25F. I was concerned that the bad fit of the shoulder joints in fighter mode on my VF-27 were because I used the alternative head. Glad to see that that wasn't the cause, and it was a flaw in the design.
  15. Re #28 Tenjin's done it again: the cover illustration and fold-out illustration of the MBR-07-MkII Spartan are different. The cover has all the weapon hatches closed, and they are open on the fold-out. Neat.
  16. Thanks VF-15 Banshee There's also the timelines: Macross Compendium: http://macross.anime.net/wiki/Before_1_BC mine (ignore the stuff in black, main difference with the above is the inclusion of the BCE/CE time for the relevant entries): http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Statistics/Sourcebook/Timeline.php#protoculture
  17. The build is quite enjoyable (no comment on play/pose-ability as I'm still "building" mine). That said, I recommend using glue and not only relying on friction to keep the kit together (as it was "designed" to). The only other point (and this was something reiterated by modelling magazines), triple check the orientation of the parts when assembling - especially with the smaller pieces involved in the shoulder transformation assembly.
  18. ER/RM++ Project: Episode: F08A: Macross F Eps. 8 "High-school Queen": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF - the infamous panty episode. The commentary barely gives it a pause before moving on. The Egg Grasping Test was insightful, especially for its implications for the preceding group of series.
  19. Weren't there some maps that appeared in SDFM that indicated where it was?
  20. It's in Japanese, with either a bonus English dub or bonus English subs.
  21. Complete! Mechanic: TF ETC 04A: Vajra: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#TMF - the Heavy Mobile Soldier Vajra and Super-Heavy Soldier Vajra are much larger than I thought! That said, I like how they've finally given them names that make sense for insects. Though, on the other hand, I really dislike the naming inconsistency with other materials - including the earlier edition of MC! Character M Citizen 01A: Lynn Minmei: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#SDFM - there were a couple of edits between the two versions. The biggest is that Roy Fokker's VF-1J is changed to the correct VF-1S!
  22. I believe that's been mentioned earlier in this thread: they already had them from releases dated 2000 or earlier.
  23. From your own admission in the rest of your post, you did not assemble it as per the instructions. (Ie the shoulder hinges). I'm not trying to harp on your a$$. The instructions clearly state that they are to be pushed in until one hears a click. It sounds like you didn't do that (or worse, you took them out and put them back in, wearing down the raised edge). Are there any that are a bit more constructive (ie why it's a waste of time, not that it is a waste of time - simply because toys and model kits are inherently time wasters...) LOL
  24. In this case, it's not mere semantics. A toy and a model are different. In short: durability. But, that's missing the point I was making. Read up a few pages earlier in this thread as apparently my summary wasn't up to snuff.
