  1. ? That comment makes no sense. Unless if you mean customers from overseas - who are not their target audience, and have the onus of going out of their way to acquire the merchandise...
  2. See the following for confirmation: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=32805&p=1072408 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=32805&p=1072536 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=32805&p=1072538
  3. A bit more on those binders: both are: - ¥1,980 (tax included) per binder - include 40 "pockets" for preserving 40 issues worth - the pockets can not be separated - they are the same size as the other binders in the series - limited to a print run of 1,000 (that's each binder. Total of 2,000 are being printed).
  4. Yeah, not sure what's going on with it (as it's something that's not in the fine print). Apparently it's the php and CSS that are using more than the allocated server resources for that stuff (or worse, webbots and DoS attacks!). Which is frustrating, as it means either removing the php includes and CSS (requiring each and every page to be reedited (which makes future formatting changes all that more difficult) or find a new host. I'm not looking forward to either solution. Nevertheless, ALL of the content is still on my PC (and apparently still on the host's servers) - so, once a solution presents itself, it should be available in more or less the same format.
  5. Oshare Macross 2 was a little underwhelming. Nevertheless, there were a lot of goods (mostly T-shirts, but quite a few posters, 3D giant postcards (or mini-posters), DX Chougokin, danties, jewellery, a few books and Minmei dolls) on sale. The Oshare area itself was rather small (crammed into what is normally an aisle and mini-lounge area next to the escalators), and aside from the merchandise, there were only a pair of large banners at the entrance, and a TV in the middle running Macross clips (or promos). I was tempted to try some of the gelato from the store that had the tie-in promotion, but due to the cost (I went with my 3 kids), the lack of seating (some benches, pretty much full at the time) and as anyone who lives in the area knows, the best gelato in Kyoto is at Shinpachi* in Arashiyama, I passed on it. * http://www.sinpachi.com/site/contents/store/st_gelato.htm
  6. The movie version probably was, but the TV show was made for kids (and the way you phrased your sentence implied that you were talking about the TV version of Macross, not the movie version). The TV version is what ended up being used as the first 1/3 of the Robotech series. And parts of it may or may not have ended up in "Love Live Alive" (someone else will have to confirm that scenes from Macross made it into LLA).
  7. (This post is not meant to contradict, replace or correct Exo's, as different people in different countries have different experiences) If memory serves: pre-Robotech: anime was being regularly imported (in the sense of being Anglicized and kiddified), but its origins were obfuscated. Robotech period: anime was regularly imported, but its origins were more clear (the aforementioned Japanimation). post-Robotech period: Dragonball, Pokemon and Sailor Moon happened, and the floodgates opened. I still remember one of the older members of the anime club in my hometown lamenting the new wave of fans that joined the club during the anime boom that started in 1995 (more commonly known as the Sailor Moon fans). Apparently it doubled or tripled the club's membership, but they were just not the same as the 'old school' fans. Not saying that Robotech wasn't an important step on the road to the floodgates being opened, just that it wasn't very much more than a step.
  8. Amazon has the release dates for the next 2 kits in the series: 1/72 VF-1S Valkyrie Roy Fokker Craft: Sept. 30 http://www.amazon.co.jp/72-VF-1S-%E3%83%90%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC-%E3%83%AD%E3%82%A4%E3%83%BB%E3%83%95%E3%82%A9%E3%83%83%E3%82%AB%E3%83%BC%E6%A9%9F-%E8%B6%85%E6%99%82%E7%A9%BA%E8%A6%81%E5%A1%9E%E3%83%9E%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AD%E3%82%B9/dp/B00DGN8AFK 1/72 Valkyrie use Super Parts Set: Sept. 30 http://www.amazon.co.jp/72-VF-1-%E3%83%90%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E7%94%A8-%E3%82%B9%E3%83%BC%E3%83%91%E3%83%BC%E3%83%91%E3%83%BC%E3%83%84%E3%82%BB%E3%83%83%E3%83%88-%E8%B6%85%E6%99%82%E7%A9%BA%E8%A6%81%E5%A1%9E%E3%83%9E%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AD%E3%82%B9/dp/B00DGN8AFU I wonder if these release dates coincide with those for the VF-1J Max and Miria craft?
  9. Apparently the first day of the "Oshare Macross 2" event in the Kyoto 101 store was a big success. http://www.0101.co.jp/stores/guide/storetp/news/00088detail.html?comment_id=62689 Pending the weather (currently thundershowers), I'm thinking of checking it out later today. Again, pending the weather (this year has been really weird. It's almost like the monsoon season, that largely missed its regular time, has come back to haunt us!)
  10. FYI: 統合軍 = Unified Forces 新統合軍 = New Unified Forces Although the United Nations (国連) are mentioned, it's limited to before the Unified Government (統合政府) was formed.
  11. RM++ Project: Timeline 25A: Memories Of Roy Fokker (M): http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - more interesting than initially thought - especially one of the RM's implications for the rest of the world. History FB 01A: Lynn Minmei Good-bye Concert: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#FB - even more interesting. If you wanted to know about Minmei's origin, what probably happened to her parents, and her fate, this is the sheet for you.
  12. More Kansai Macross: Oshare Macross 2 In the Kyoto Marui Bldg, 6F Special Event Hall (same place as last time, if memory serves) From 2013.08.31 to 2013.09.08 10:30 to 20:30 See the Macross 30 HP for details on the new loot being offered: http://macross30.com/news/ Apparently they're having a stamp rally tie-in with Macross the Museum: From 2013.08.31 to 2013.09.08 (redeemable at the Tezuka Osamu Museum until 09.16) Macross The Genga-ten in Nagoya Apparently it's the final appearance of that exhibition. 2013.08.28 to 2013.09.10 Apparently they're getting lots of guest speakers: 09.01: Grace O'conner's VA talk show 09.07: Mikimoto Haruhiko signing 09.08: Ranka Lee VA talk show Each time is limited to 100 people (50 per showing), with 2 showings per day per guest.
  13. RM++ Project: Character Plus Citizen 04A: Jan Neumann: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#M+ - quite a few changes between the editions - a lot more than I was expecting! It's interesting to find out more about the support staff - but just like the series, there's really not that much shown on them. Character F Citizen 01B: Ranka Lee: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#MF - not quite as many changes, but still a LOT more than expected. The RM on her relationship with Mr. Sterne was interesting.
  14. RM++ Project: Technology 17B: EX-Gear (Extender Gear): http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/MCRtechnology.php - there's that sport version of the EX-Gear getting mentioned again. Anyhow, a bunch of names for the different EX-Gear standards - can't remember if they've been mentioned before, or not. Complete: Mechanic: Zero AUA 03A: Auerstedt: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M0 Mechanic: M Zentraadi 08A: Battleships of the Zentraadi Forces: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#SDFM - no changes between the versions, though the translation have been cleaned up.
  15. Complete! Worldguide 11A: Mankind Seeding Project: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - Surprise, surprise, the sheet was actually more than the sum of its parts (more than a collection of the morsels of info sprinkled here and there). Also of interest is the point that Minmei participated in the Megaroad-01 Fleet. Nevertheless, it clears up one thing: what happens to the fleet and emigrant ships after planet discovery and emigration starts.
  16. Complete: Mechanic: F SMS 02A: VF-25S Messiah: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MF - a few changes between the editions. A few more translation revisions.
  17. Is that the demo for the North American release (the one with the VF-5000)? The demo that was included in the SDFM:DYRL S7 import (which includes a demo for Patlabour)? Or something else entirely?
  18. RM++ Project: Episode: F09A: Macross F Eps. 9 "Friendly Fire": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF -
  19. Complete: Mechanic: 7 Varohta 04B: Varohta Fleet: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/7varohta04bVarohtaFleet.php - mostly tweaks to the translation and loads of edits (guess I didn't have time to proofread it the first time around, eh).
  20. Complete: Mechanic: M UN 18A: Unified Forces Aircraft: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#SDFM - updated. Only a few edits on the publishers side, but there were a number of tweaks on the translation side.
  21. If it helps: The second feature article is "the ship-borne craft of Space Battleship Yamato"
  22. Complete: #31 Back Cover Filing Instructions #31 Sticker Insert Instructions - http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRseriesguide/CoverEtc.php#31
  23. Macross Mechanics sounds familiar... http://www.1999.co.jp/10157162 Is this the Macross Mechanics 02 that was advertised in the back of 01 that never saw print being reworked around the new Bandai VF-1 kit? If you mean another one in the sense of "a different publication" ('cuz I initially read it as "another link to the Macross Mechanics"), then yes. That said, it looks like its an ad for "Double R Mechanics No.3", which has a feature article on "80's Real Robot Mechanics: Variable Fighter VF-1 Valkyrie". Here's the link to the publisher's page, with a content breakdown of No.1 and 2: http://www.modelart-shop.jp/?mode=cate&cbid=1465512&csid=0
  24. I've been working on and off for the past few months on a Hasegawa VF-1 Battroid. During the summer break, I got around to painting it (first time in something like 20 years). Opted for the TV series Max VF-1J colouring and all the frustrations that entails. No telling when it will be finished (clear coat, panel lines, decals, touch ups, etc). Just putting a shout out in response that some of us lurkers are (slowly) bringing the kits out of the closet and making progress.
  25. ER/RM++ Project: Episode: II 02A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II -Lovers Again- Episode 2 "Ishtar": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MII - one of the extra reports got me thinking that this episode of MII was a major lost opportunity with its focus on the mechanical aspects, despite being a character focused episode. In this case, instead of a real-time translating ear piece, why not develop Hibiki's character more and have him speak Zentraadi? Or at least show him and Ishtar struggling with language and TRYING to mutually understand each other? I question it because the ear piece just turns into a plot device to ignore the language barrier to focus the episode on the cultural barrier. But as language is culture and culture is language, the language barrier and attempts to overcome it should've been the key to an episode focused on culture, no? And we'd learn much more about the pair (not to mention their mutual interest in each other) if they were shown trying to understand each other. Episode: 7 19A: Macross 7 Eps. 19 "Risky Date": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7 - yay! We get the explanation of Guld's doppelganger, and insight into Miria at the same time as delving into the mechanical aspects of the show (which highlights that the producers learned their lessons from MII?).
