Didn't RS say that \the Xenomorph has retired, and he last saw him at Disneyland? -
Externally? Aside from the alternative head for the VF-4G, there's the VF-4SL:

There's quite a bit in there that is nigh identical. Ignoring the total recall of a previous life as a spy for the mo', the design of the total recall device is extremely similar (one just has CG overlayed on it), and the mask disguise the hero wears (one's a (mostly) practical effect, and the other is a CG "hologram") are the ones that immediately come to mind. Now, as they are both based on the same story (that white elephant that we were ignoring), you can really appreciate how much the remake/revisioning/re-whatevering is to the original.

Agreed. But "official setting" does appear. Is it part of the official setting? See Gubaba's post.

So? Thrust vectoring doesn't compensate for a limited fuel load. Ergo: poor space performance.

Dengeki Hobby July 2012 out. Macross content roundup: 2 pg MtR Konkuuruderegannsu contest winners. Some of the designs are really sweet. I'm drooling at the modeling abilities of the entrant who converted a VF-19A to a VF-19F. Macross the Forefront: Pg 1: Macross: The Design @ Parco, 1:1 scale VF-25 exhibit, SDFM/DYRL BD releases, etc.. Pg 2: Yamato VF-4. See attached scan and all the battroid mode goodness. Pg 3: DX Chougoukin VF-171EX. Awesome. + some blurb about the VF-25G renewal version planned for fall. More news on that next issue.

Tip for the first mission: spam the Ghost with micro-missiles (save them until it appears). Otherwise, do your best to keep away from its missiles until it starts to run low, and then make a concerted effort to defeat it.

Skyfall, the next James Bond 007 Film
sketchley replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Interesting question, if one completely ignores how it established the Bond formula that all sequels copied to varying extents... (could go on with some other precedents set by that film, but I got better things to do with my time). Texas Hold'em. It's quite fun to play. Eh? But Bond does have a past. So, too does Borne. At least the novel version of him does. The 2nd and 3rd Borne movies, though good, PALE in comparison to the novels. Borne speaking Russian? What up wit dat?- 251 replies

Skyfall, the next James Bond 007 Film

My seeing an overconfident human Bond struggling to recreate himself as an assassin and you seeing a failed superspy in FR are beside the point. We're talking about QoS... ... which is a lesser clone of Borne Identity et al without a compelling villain, a thin story to backup the premise and throws most of what has made Bond a success for 50 years out the window. Now, if that's your cup of tea, good on you. Nevertheless, the film is flawed (bad editing, for starters) and despite the box office returns, it's still a mediocre action movie. Villains make or break these kinds of movies, and this one's broke. Don't get me wrong, I like parts of QoS (ie: dumpster diving the comrade), just not the thing in it's entirety. A question: if QoS is as great as some posters have indicated it is, why does the sequel want nothing to do with it?- 251 replies

again: Yes, there are times that those descriptors don't apply, but it sounds suspiciously like you're stating that he wasn't cool, was out of control and clueless for the entire movie...- 251 replies

Prometheus - on Blu-Ray and DVD Oct. 9, 2012

Dude! Tight spandex is to show off the actresses' assets! Unnecessary orange greebles are necessary - to help the viewer identify the two main characters in long shots. Fishbowl helmets are so we can clearly see the actors' heads. It's also great for over the shoulder reaction shots of something approaching from behind. Now, aforementioned film-making decisions aside, I do feel the complaints that the suits and technology (touch screens et al) being out of step with "Alien" and "Aliens" are valid. However, didn't Ridley Scott indicate that it's not a direct prequel of "Alien"? That, in my book, does give some leeway in technology. Though, this does raise an interesting question: if the use of traditional key pads et al in "Prometheus" is perceived as unrealistic due to saturation of touch screens in the RL, would the use of touch screens in "Alien" have been perceived as equally unrealistic simply because that technology wasn't commercially available until 1983 and not widely available until the '90's? -

Did you miss the parts where I said the villains in QoS are too realistic? How many girls does he get with? But nevermind... you liked it, I was greatly disappointed by it, because it did a piss-poor job continuing CR's story. JB not cool, in control or had a clue in CR? Did we watch the same movie? Yes, there are times that those descriptors don't apply, but it sounds suspiciously like you're stating that he wasn't cool, was out of control and clueless for the entire movie...- 251 replies

Can't say anything much on my interest in seeing the film, but Josh Brolin's performance in the commercials is intriguing. Dare I say that he nailed TLJ?

No, no, Tochiro's hit the nail on the head. When SDFM was made, it was done at 4:3. If you want a 16:9, then the ENTIRE series has to be reanimated. (Not just refilmed, but the edges of all the art have to be drawn in). [That or serious croppage. But who wants that???]

Who says anything about a Sean Connery Bond film? I consider Casino Royale one of the better, if not THE best Bond Film. So, Daniel Craig playing Bond has nothing to do with why Quantum of Solace is epic fail in my book. But don't take this post for it, here's my review of CR: http://nomansland.site.nfoservers.com/MRG-Active-Archive/forums/index.php?topic=2598.msg42154#msg42154 (and almost all the other Bond films)- 251 replies

The VF-X-4 appears in SDFM: http://upload.wikime...karu_VF-X-4.jpg M:PM also has the development story of the VF-X-4 and what became the VF-4 (part of it in the following): From the Macross Compendium, my translations: The details of the VF-4 may have been finessed over the years, but the point in time and the context that it appeared in SDFM was there from the start.

Quantum (the agency) was good, but Quantum (the movie) was terrible. Even before preproduction started, the producers had indicated that the new film would be separate from that story arc and Quantum (the agency) wouldn't appear. I have mixed feelings about the trailer. Yes, it looks like an interesting movie - but so, too, did the trailer for Quantum - which didn't turn out to be a very good one.- 251 replies

I don't think he does. First off, he's diversified - he gets harangued by otaku with a bunch of comments and questions about a variety of different anime. 2nd (and probably more important), he's still getting large royalty payments.
