Someone who is content with series that have been released, and are looking forward to the next series, as they know it's going to be a step in a new direction, not a rehash of the same-old, same-old?

Finished Timeline pages #04 & 05. Same as above, but a lot more captions looked promising, especially on 05. http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2460.msg36654#msg36654 (scroll down to see pg 05)

UR? http://www.ur-net.go.jp/ If ur = your, then: you seriously expect to have a serious conversation after making such a dismissive statement? Either you're in the discussion completely, or your not. [also, as someone who has proclaimed himself as an expert on MDM:VF-X, you, more than anyone else, should known the source of the lineart. ]

You mean the ASF-X "Magnificent Lightning II"? That's oh so 4 months ago of you. Ref: Dengeki Hobby 2011.12 Pgs 198-200; also has the CFA-44 Nosferatu
-
Only the first book in that series is based on a doujin. Nevertheless, the point still stands that the VF-4 is designed as a long-range space interceptor (MC, TIA, etc., etc., etc.). Aside from the paint colors, your battroid is really the VF-4G. From MDG:VF-X.

Nah. It can transform. Just the transformation mechanism itself is faulty. [which leads back to it doesn't transform. But who says it needs to transform at all, given that it's used as a long range interceptor]

Aside from the eye rolls and the feelings of plot dejavu, it was all yawn... ... aside from the one moment of wondering what the heck a respectable actor like Liam Neeson is doing in the movie. Maybe the same thing as Gwyneth Paltrow is doing in the Iron Man movies? anyhow... quite surprised that Robot Chicken and I are on the same wavelength.

Finished Timeline pages #02 & 03 (well, finished the top blurb, titles, some captions and the right column time line) http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2460.msg36652#msg36652 (scroll down to see pg 3) How many of you think the AIN-54 isn't another typo?

Kawamori's pet AKB project-first footage!
sketchley replied to Tochiro's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Jaw on floor. Need shovel to lift it back up. I second Renato. That CM's wrong on oh so many levels. Gimmie missiles & robots for no apparent reason! -
Heh. Lessee, some places to buy are: Bookoff (though it's a challenge finding stuff, and the Studio Ghibli stuff never seems to go down in price) Sofmap ... of course, it's always worth checking out other used stores and larger stores. It's surprising what's available in places like Yamada Denki, Joshin and so forth. Not just new, but used, too. ... though, I must add that these days I'm neither watching nor going out of my way to watch what you guys usually define anime as. Unless if you include Anpanman, Sazae-san, Chibi-maruko, etc.. I've tried Danboru and Gundam Age, but just can't get into it...

Timeline #01 http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2460.msg36651#msg36651 Translated the blurb at the top, titles and some of the captions, and the right column time line. ... wasn't exactly planning to do this - was planning to focus only on the related matters - but as these things go, one interesting thing leads to another, and boom, most of the page is done.

Worldguide 13B: Super Long Range Emigration Fleets http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2017.msg43610#msg43610 LOADS of interesting nuggets of info: politics, military, business, etc.. Probably the most fascinating is the descriptions of the relationship between Earth's Unified Government and Unified Forces HQ, and the Emigration Fleet's government. Alas, its clarifications leave thing just as unclear as before... though, it is nice to have the reason why the situations in the Macross 7, Frontier and Galaxy fleets are so different, and why their relationships with the core vary so widely. Also went back and reedited the A page (first page in the link). It should be significantly more readable. At the very least, it's now presented in the same manner as the other MC translations I've been doing over the past two years.

Mechanic Zero AUA 02A OCTOS: http://www.macrossro...g30048#msg30048 (Finally) got back to it after 3+ years (has it really been 3 years?!! 3 years of looking at it and thinking "I'll get back to it when me skills have improved." 36 hours after deciding I should just be done with it... it's finished!) Still quite a fascinating addition to Macross. And I especially like that the Unified Forces adopted it for use as a special forces vehicle!

Star Trek Into Darkness, in theaters May 17, 2013
sketchley replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I always considered Star Wars sci-fi (basically an action movie that takes place in the future) more than anything else. Though, science fantasy fits the bill. From what I've heard about the latest ST movie (waiting for it to appear on TV), it's more of the same sci fi... action dreck set in the future. Now, if the story was on par with say "Gattaca" or "Solaris", I'd be all over it. But, you know what, haven't heard much about the latest ST movie's story other than the few negative comments here. Heck, the last ST movie that had a science fiction bone in it was "Insurrection", and that one pales compared to the concept in "Generations" which pales in comparison to the ones in "The Voyage Home" and "The Undiscovered Country".- 1020 replies

Indiana Jones V - in development
sketchley replied to Vermillion21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
His character wasn't that bad. It was the overuse of CG in the back-half of IV that brought the back half way down. Indiana Jones should go back to its roots: action serials in the 30's and 40's, wasn't it? When CG didn't exist, and every effect was a practical one (hey, isn't that Raiders in a nutshell?)- 52 replies

Mig29 (partial translation of the Mechanic: Zero AUA 01B SV-51) http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2860.msg43603#msg43603 Alas a dearth of info on the MiG29. HOWEVER, did the SV-51α (some more hints on the SV-52), and the guns & missiles for the SV-51γ, too.

Mechanic SDFM UN 17A: Unified Forces Transports/Aircraft http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2858.0 It's not much, but something is better than nothing for a bunch of those vehicles. Might be worthwhile translating the notes on the lineart for these vehicles one of these days... [note: that's lineart published elsewhere. Ie Perfect Memory]

1/100 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie Kit: Box & Instructions: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2857.0 (instructions are in the second post). Note the funky Engrish version on the box and the errors in the Japanese YF-19 data in the instructions. I was going to post a linky to the MW archives on the kit... but, it's not there! (4th from bottom here) http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/models/bandai/bandai_1997.htm So... to the site mods... some info to add to that listing (yes, the kit I have is the special coating version, too): Serial: 0059717 Yen: 2,625 * Yen sources: http://pink-tiger.web.infoseek.co.jp/Np_mm.htm & http://www.isemo.com/cgi-bin/pura_anime.cgi?_file=pura_anime&allhits=312&IDX=0+30+60+121+176+242+309+376+462+522+593+646+677&FF=646
