I still say that a little human DNA got into Jenny, and that her "mother" is somehow Rose.

She overdid the pink hair IMHO, in the anime it looks more like pink highlighted then full on pink

Any plans to edit together the two version of Frontier episode 1?

Are Variable Fighters Aeronautically Feasible?
Knight26 replied to Hereticpoo's topic in Movies and TV Series
Ok if this at all incoherent excuse me, I have been on duty since 0000 for a mission that just ended. Pretty much any of the mainline valkyries shown in the Macross series' could fly in their fighter modes with some tweaks. The VF-1 for example, if built in the VF-X configuration where the arms and head were faired in would probably fly fairly nicely, albeit with a very good FBW system. If similar enhancements were made to nearly all the other fighters I, as an aerospace engineer, see no reason why a flyable version would not be possible. Would they have the performance seen in the anime, dear god no, we simply do not have the materials and powerplants to allow for such a thing. Anyway my cognitive functions are rapidly breaking down, so why I am still conscious I am going to grab something heavily caffinated from the snack bar, wake myself up and head home. -

Ok, but what the heck is an Inertia Store Converter? Does it feature some form of acceleration comp for the pilot, or is possibly some way to slow the craft down rapidly without thrusters? -

I assume that the conciousness is somehow transfered as all knowledge, personnallity etc... is also transferred, and that really is something that can't be transmitted via simple matter transference or replication. That is one of the reasons I refuse to use teleportation, as seen in trek, as a means of personnel conveyence in my own stories, I only use it for matter replication, using a mass reserve, and in the event a living organism is teleported it always comes out dead, and if revived has zero memory. -

I think that culmination of Grace's plan will occur towards the end of this episode and then Frontier will come in and foul it all up, whether that plan is destroy the Varja through Ranka or somehow give them an externally communicative consciousness is yet to be seen, but right now I am betting on her wanting to destroy them, and Ranka with SMS and Frontier instead granting them with a new means of communicating and therefore coexisting with humanity. But then again, I could be wrong. -

Interesting design, but the cockpit is a little close to the nose for my tastes, looks to leave very little room for a radar, unless this thing is huge, but with no stated size it is hard to figure. As for the writing, I really tend to pass on fan fics, but I may give this a look when I get some time. Also get away from the line paper, if you need the lines for things like scaling, proportions, etc... then at least get some grid or engineering paper. I used to have some great grid paper where the grid lines did not show up on copies or scanner, maybe a little but not much.

It's a nice update for the Frontier era, kind of what I would expect the Macross equivalent of IAI to do if they got hold of a number of old VF-1s and had to build a new fighter from that airframe. Also, were a live action movie to be made now, I actually wouldn't mind seeing something like this appear, it is different enough, yet close enough to the original that most fans would accept it. Love to see where you go with it next.

I was thinking about something recently, could the micron/macronization chamber be used as a rejuvination system? Think about it, when you are macroed or microed your original cells aren't reused, to the best of my knowledge, instead new ones are grown from your DNA, hence it is a cloning system which transfers your conciousness. The offshoot of this of course is that you would come out with brand new, young cells, unless the cells rapidly age as has been seen with current cloned animals. Klan is a perfect example of this, something in her DNA especially makes her a pre-teen in physical maturity when microned, but a busty adult when macronized. Could this possible rejuvination also explain how characters like Max, Millia, and Exedore were so relatively young in Macross-7, all three had been micro/macroed a few times (if you believe DYRL, but I see no reason that Max/Millia would not have resized in order to test out new Q-Raus during their test pilot days). -
I would be all over some fighter mode GNU's as long as they were all in scale with one another and were relatively inexpensive. So stop teasing us graham and fess up, Yamato already has some designs drawn up don't they?
-
That is beautiful, I wonder if you could vacform a mold for it so others could try building their own based on it. Also, when you really look at it it makes you realize just how little of the city they were able to put into the Macross, probably just the housing area and a little bit of the business district.

You know I think that is an idea that folks here can get behind, if they can find destroid models small enough, imagine it populated with all custom destroids though, that would rock.
-
Small destroids? Strange Never seen these resin kits!
Knight26 replied to Ranger565's topic in Model kits
If those are 1/200 you need to make some molds and sell the molds to mechtech so he can populate his 6' Daedelus, lol -
Is this what I think it is!? Mospeada?

definitely looks like a shirow gun more then Gallant, and not one of his better designs too -

IIRC .7G is stated to be the minimum gravity at which bone density will not decline with prolonged exposure, so a .7G environment would not be detrimental to the human body, but would lead to taller people, but possibly lower G tolerances. I will have to talk to my NASA buddies to be sure though. -

Where is it stated that Klan doesn't age when Micronized, all we see is that she deages when micronized, which she does at regular intervals, there has been no mention, that I can recall, that she does not age when micronized, remember she grew up as a full sized zent according to what has been seen on screen. -
How so?

Never the less that engine should be at least 2-3x as long as it shows in the drawings, and since the intake really doesn't seem to reach it then the intake makes no sense to the design. -

New wild theory time. First off correct me if I am wrong, but have we ever seen a clear picture of Ranshe's face? TO the best of my knowledge we have only seen her from the back or from the neck down, and the picture Alto finds aboard the SDF-4 has the glass broken and smeared with dirt to obscure her face. Now, from what we have seen her body type is remarkabley similar to one other character on the show, which no one else seems to have, i.e. we're not seeing characters who have the same body but different heads used here like in some animation. The body we see of Ranshe seems to quite closely match that of a certain singer, and not Ranka her daughter, but either herself or her possible clone, Sheryl. Stay with me here. I'll have to listen again, but her voice actress also sounded quite a lot like Sheryl, so the theory goes one of two ways. 1) Grace thinking that Ranka (so far the only carrier and immune person to the V-typ infection) is dead rescues Ranshe despite their differing views on how to appraoch the Varja issue. Ranshe is severly injured to the point of dying, but becaus her v-type infection is controllable she does everything she can to save her, eventually resorting to using a micro/macronization chamber to conduct surgery on her. However, during the micronizing she undergoes a similar defect to that seen in Klan and is reduced to a child (this might also explain how max and millia have aged so little in 7). Realizing that a child Ranshe is useless to her Grace puts her through the ringer, erasing her memory (like she did to Brera, her son), and altering her appearance slightly (hair color), then she puts her through the treatment to save her life and temporarily dumps her on the street so that when she comes back to rescue her she becomes dependant on her. Or Ranshe/Sheryl might have escaped the lab, but because her memory was erased she had no idea what to do until Grace "rescued" her. 2) version 2 is similar but instead of saving Ranshe, Grace just ups and clones her, then intentionally infects the clone with the V-type infection because she believes that Ranka is dead. Again she puts her through the treatment to save her life and temporarily dumps her on the street so that when she comes back to rescue her she becomes dependant on her. Or Ranshe/Sheryl might have escaped the lab, but because her memory was erased she had no idea what to do until Grace "rescued" her. In the end Grace's plan needs someone with a V-type infection who can bridge the gap between human and Varja, so Ranshe or Ranka are her two ideal tools. The way she just abandons Sheryl after Sheryl proves beyond a shadow of a dobut that Ranka is Ranshe's daughter, and has the singing ability Grace needs is more proof of this. Also, look at the way that Sheryl helps Ranka out in the early part of the series, she keeps doing little things to build Ranka up and make her a start, possibly some hidden maternal instinct coming out. Of course this also explains how Sheryl got the earrings, she really is a Nome descendent, as are Ranka and Brera, whose real last names might be Nome afterall. -

This design is one the prime examples of why we have yet to clearly see a single engine VF in any macross series. And yes I know some think that we see the back ends of a row of single engine VFs in Macross Plus. Look how much more complex the transformation has to be in order to accomodate the single engine and all the battroid parts. The engine also seems to be insanely short from how it folds against the back, even more so then the YF-21/VF-22s engines. THe f-16 style intake also makes no sense based on the transformation, as the entire intake is taken up by battroid parts. Any single engine VF will probably looks something like a Volksjager, with a podded engine that ends up on the back of the VF, or will at least have a dorsal intake. -

Interesting design, but where did the engine go? -
Ok, wild theory time: Sheryl is a clone of Ranshe, look at the screen caps, her face and body type are quite close to Ranshe, too close to be coincidence in my opinion. Of course if she is a clone, who created her? Grace of course, as a tool to destroy the Varja, or whatever he ultimate goal is. Grace has manipulated Sheryl's whole life, the one thing she did not count on was Sheryl contracting the V-type infection, perhaps from a contaminated tissue sample. Now we know that Ranka as Ranshe's daughter is somehow immune to the V-type infection, despite the fact that it seems she is some sort of carrier, which means that she has anti-bodies to the disease from which, dun dun dun, a cure can be synthisized. Waves hope flag for Sheryl. There is a huge spoiler for this right in the openning where we see deadish looking Sheryl sinking into the concrete with multiple red ribbons trailing off her body, as well as her singing along with Ranka. In the end she and Ranka will team up to help bring peace and Ranka will grow up enough to allow them to make a cure for Sheryl. At that point I think that Alto will likely go with Sheryl, Ranka will still be too immature for him, and I think as much as he loves Ranka, it is much more of a big brotherly affection, his heart belongs to Sheryl. But then this anime has caught me flatfooted, which doesn't happen very often, and is very well written so my guesses could be way off base.
