The Third Party Gundam Thread
Sanity is Optional replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I have the steel legends one, and apart from some tight joints it’s great. Few if any paint flaws, lots of detail, big and heavy yet everything stays in place when posed.- 2166 replies

Those Bandai kits are surprisingly nice. Easy build, transform well/easily, and a decent amount of detailing.

I picked up the Bandai transforming SD kits, and I actually quite like them. Though I don’t think I’d ever spend the effort on building and painting an eggplane.

PLAMAX 1/20 VF-25, YF-29 and VF-31

Wow, that actually made me slightly interested in these. Not having to paint on all that striping is pretty huge. -
They had the pre-order up, but that's different than having the parts produced or the figures assembled. Plus there was a delay in releasing the Mirage unit, that could have been due to mold changes.
-
I mean, yes? Can anyone see things changed from the pictures?

Can anyone tell if there are any model improvements in the BCV version?

Out of curiosity, looked up the MSRP for the 1984 version of their Ecto-1: $1390

They’re likely running out of storage space to hold all the PW items due to people leaving them to accumulate for *years* at this point. Space costs money, and keeping track of that huge number of already sold items also costs money, plus they’re responsible for if anything happens to the stored items.

Suddenly a lot of interest in the Arcadia VF-0S.

Looks like a normal version sold for about ¥35,000 back in early January on YJA. The harder part looks to be finding one for sale at a reasonable price.

I think part of it is that buildings in disrepair are more interesting than clean modern buildings (which have very little detail). You also see a lot of older style architecture, stuff like the Opera House or the Boutique Hotel. Though it's likely a bit more repetitive of a build. Personally I like the more playable sets, like some of the roller coaster submissions, or the buildings with some built-in gimmicks.

There's one on Yahoo Japan Auctions right now (unopened) for ¥60,500: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w1037493683 You'll need to buy it through a proxy like From Japan or Buyee, and pay international shipping. Should come out under $700?

Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045

Finally, took them long enough after that cliffhanger! -
I meant it looks like the base of it is not wide/heavy enough to keep the thing being displayed from toppling. Need to have a low center of gravity and a wide base to avoid tipping.

It’s siloed on the surface of a planet at the start, so air resistance does matter some.

Hard to say, the MGEX Unicorn (¥23,000) didn't have all the gold plated bits, but it did have a full LED kit built in. Probably in the ¥15,000-¥20,000 range? The fully plated normal release MG kits (Phenex ¥12,000, Hyaku Shiki ¥6,800) aren't that expensive. Though the P-Bandai and Expo ones are usually quite a bit.

Sounds like at least part of it is changing the head laser to a shallower angle.

They seem to have been putting in a single green tea KitKat recently. Got it in 2 of 3 things I bought from them.
