Thanks! Ultimately planning on making Boldoza, Quamzin Kravshera ("Khyron" for those only familiar with RT) and perhaps expanding the bridge. Would also like to make Claudia and the Bridge Bunnies (to finish out my 4-inch "miclone" series, and the SDF-1 Main Bridge for them to "man". (and the lower Bridge display/ "stage" that Minmay used in DYRL) Nice!! Do you plan on getting Magnus, Kup and Blurr as well? That would rock!

Jonny Quest Dragonfly Supersonic Transport: This was a royal pain to paint freehand (not happy with it; inaccurate, but the best I can so nowadays): nose and aft: Scale compared to spray can and ruler:

This is why I insist on physical media (books, cd and cassette). If I pay for it, it's mine.

Yeah; I suspected as much, but it was the only other one I could find.

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next
pengbuzz replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I wonder if some kind of deal could be struck to allow that? I know HG had some bad blood with Hasbro, but since Jetfire is a recolor of the VF-1, perhaps BW could work something out with Hasbro/ TakaraTomy?- 17117 replies

Thanks Thom. I started this one after my visit to the ER the other day (CT and MRI scans ╪ fun) . She doesn't stand very well on her own, so I plan on doing a base for her that resembles the platform she performed on on the Macross bridge. The one she was photographed on doesn't work well for her, and it broke shortly after the photo shoot. I still need to detail her face and stuff.

1/48 is too small: in building a 1/48 Legioss, it was only as big in soldier mode as a VF-1: At the 1/32 scale, they would be able to do better detail (personally, I would redo the cockpit and put a 1/72 scale fig into the 1/48 myself, but what do I know?) and more convincingly. Some mechs just don't translate well to some scales.

More like 1/11 scale.

Thanks everyone!! Yeah; nice to have that one finally done! Meanwhile: I came across this one recently at a flea market dirt cheap: May build it or trade it; don't know.

Finally got the blimp done: Replaced the solid plastic gondola with a transparent custom made one: Other side: Ended up printing the Goodyear lettering and tail decals at the library on regular paper, cutting it all out ( royal pain!) and gluing it to the model kit. The lighting system (bulbs and all) went to crap, so I simply tore it all out and soldered in the guts from a Harbor Freight LED light (blue one with a"strip" of lights down the center) along with the battery enclosure, and plastic-welding it to the old battery compartment in the center of the "message drum": The stand is a custom-made cradle, specially designed to hold this (since the kit has to split in half to change messages/ batteries): Closer look: Custom-printed plaque on stand: Live test of message system on blimp:

Hmm... interesting way to get rid of an enemy: attach a fold booster to them during a fight and set the jump coordinates for the heart of a star or black hole. (might work better on capital ships) -

Right? Just saw it last night; definitely not as good as the original, although I did get a kick out of (and perhaps I shouldn't) when: -
New Macross Animation Announced, to be animated by Sunrise
pengbuzz replied to seti88's topic in Movies and TV Series
If that's the case, I'd just as soon rewatch the old series with those "aces" in it. A bad writer can ruin an established character just as easily as make an all-new one then ruin them with bad writing. At least with the new characters, you can forget them if the writing sucks; but when you ruin an old favorite hero by shoe-horning them into a new story (and the writing sucks), then you get The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. Yeah, I think we're good on that. -

I'd honestly rather see all new people and no cameos; M+ and MII didn't have any cameos (aside from mecha) that I can recall, and they did just fine. The original SDFM didn't cameo anyone (as they had no one) and had to depend on the strength of the characters and story alone. Admittedly, I used to want previous characters to continue on, but I feel now (after some discussions with Seto) that it can detract from the heroes actually shining in the story and all leans too heavily on "what's been done before". Example: Roy Focker wasn't a badass because his VF-1S was that much better than everyone else's or that he had someone always bailing him out who was a hero from a previous series. No; he was simply that good and it took a Zentraedi ace to finally bring him to his end(and even then he only died after ignoring his wounds for a considerable time afterwards). Hikaru, on the other hand, had to grow into the role, and then took over after Roy had died and he inherited Skull-1. Max Jenius was something of a prodigy, but even he had a learning curve before he was considered the best of the best. And I think the main characters in the next Macross series deserve the same chance they did: to shine with their inherent abilities, and rise to the challenge and succeed/ fail on their own merits. And if they fail, to overcome it, learn and grow, and try again until they do succeed. I love the past characters as much as anyone, but as I've learned in the last few years: it's time to let go of them as far as future productions, and let them have their "ride off into the sunset" moment. Even M7 kind of stomps on Max and Millia by showing their family kind of splintered and their marriage on the rocks.
