That could make for a very interesting weapon... Fold a large chunk of atmosphere (and/ or a target such as a military installation) right off the planet into deep space, like a fold bomb or something. *Disclaimer: don't know if that's ever been developed in Macross; I know it did a number on South Ataria Island.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
pengbuzz replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
I gave up on groups entirely on FB after wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much drama. Looking forward to that project! Hmmm; I didn't know there was anything Macross on Discord (and here I have an account I hardly use on it!). -
Then the original series would have been very short.

I would have to contend that in doing so, they made it special by making it unique. And while they did make more battle fortresses (especially look-alike of the movie version such as the SDFN-01 Global), none were like the original Macross is being a gunboat rebuilt into Earth's first starship. No other ship will ever be that first one, a hybrid built from a wreck salvage that fell from the sky and became humanity's last hope.

Except of course the fact that Earth rebuilt it and used it to destroy Boddole Zer's base ship.

Maybe it would stand a better chance on the moon. Meantime, wish Hasegawa would so a New Macross class model (both modes).

Thank you; I'm sorry that you had to come in. I think the next Macross series should be a new one that revolves around the "Lady M" dilemma and ultimately resolves it. Leave Delta out of this (it's something of a joke in my mind now), and have a new cast of characters deal with the fallout of her machinations.

Comments reported for political content, violation of board rules. Already done. As to the topic at hand: Agreed. Rules tend to bind only those willing to adhere to them, which is why penalties are needed under the law for those who won't follow it. I think in Lady M's case, she apparently thinks she is the law, while Cromwell's opinion is that they can stuff the law. AKA "Throwing out the baby with the bathwater". And I assume the reconstruction of that DNA would be "hit and miss", given that they would have to do trial and error to find what wasn't working? So in essence then, the "moral high ground: is going to be a bit ambiguous, given the players, right?

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!

I thought as much; with what was being asked of it, you would think they would have to. -
I was thinking more along the lines of so no one loses their footing, slips off, and busts a half-dozen bones.

Like any technology, Overtechnology can be used for benign or malevolent intents and purpose. I do think that the brain implants though were pushing it (not a big fan of anything wired into one's skull, TBH). And yeah: having finally seen this (favor from a friend), Cromwell never argued for all-out deregulation. Right? I remember that scene in Evangelion, and was horrified at the outcome: Also: Admittedly, I didn't quite realize that, so I went back and re-watched the parts in M7 where they found the Varuta iceworld. To think that all of that could have been prevented, although in the end, Basara's singing allowed them to generate their own spiritua, and freed them from an eternal prison. Now this one from charles88: As Seto said: Charles88: no one in Macross wanted any restrictions removed on time travel. I think you're combining a bunch of stuff here to create the aforementioned "strawman". and somehow paint Lady M as a "good guy".
