It was god for its time, but age really shows. Lots of awkward shapes and such. The hmr blows it away easily. Although, I would love to see a new hg kit of it along with other Macross 2 designs

General 1/18 Scale Figure and Toy Thread
Big s replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I’d be way more interested if they do Samurai Showdown since they have that snk logo. Storm did a few figures from it, but kinda left out a lot of my favorites and honestly, I’d have more space for them in this scale. -
It’s always fun to have a chance to try something new. I like how the armor looks like that old fashioned iron kinda look rather than smooth manufactured steel.

Aren't we being too pedantic about "official toys"?

And Serena isn’t a character in Sailor Moon -
Yeah, that’s with all the extensions. There’s a bit more than I listed, like the ankles to get better articulation around the armor and the hip gimmick that allows for a higher kick and helps in downform. Basically it’s not to extend height, but to allow for more anime style poses with the all those extra joints moved around, it adds significant height when you extend everything outward.

The legs are for the downform, the arms are for the punch and forward reach and the waist is for forward articulation.

I didn’t even check think it was odd that they pretty much redid the joints on theirs more like G.I.Joe, except for adding the elbow joints and a waist articulation. The other joints go some petty good upgrades, but if they just went that little bit more, these would’ve been tough to pass up

Turned out really great. Thanks for sharing. id love to see something like this on the hg kit as well.

Totally agree. I didn’t even check who it was that did the voice, but he was pretty great here. Overall it was kind of the type of plot that easily could’ve failed if not for the talent behind the character and the circumstances pushing things in that direction.

Just watched last week’s episode. Was a bit behind on tv. This one was one of those episodes where you know pretty much what exactly is going to happen, but still shocking to see that it actually happens.

I’ve never had much luck on brush painting lacquer personally. When I used to use acrylics for brush painting, I did really well with citadel paints. I kinda like the army painter ones these days since they seem to level easily and they have a similar product to the contrast paints for the slap chop thing.

Are you gonna try brush painting the lacquers on it? Most of Lincoln’s kits seem to use that painting method

New Macross Animation Announced, to be animated by Sunrise
Big s replied to seti88's topic in Movies and TV Series
I’m kinda thinking a more interesting story might be something like an independent label that gains access to bands and arts from several genres. Like a rock band, a pop star, maybe a rapper, a country band , maybe a blues band and maybe some kinda techno industrial thing. And the plot uses an enemy that doesn’t just have one mood requiring alternating uses of the different genres of music maybe even coming together to put their backgrounds aside to try and do a we are the world type final moment for the climax of the show. but it could just all end up totally stupid -
Honestly, the best way to look at it realistically is what it actually was. It was a tool to bring shows like Macross to the world. And honestly, it was a bumpy road, but we’re finally at a place where several Macross series and movies can be viewed by a much much larger audience. The trip isn’t finished and there’s still the og stuff to settle, but we’re much better off without Robotech in the way. Macross isn’t perfect, but Robotech after the original shows ended was a huge mess. I’ll never forget that without Robotech anime in general may have taken a lot longer to become standard viewing in a majority of households these days, but Robotech was never really its own thing. Maybe one day they’ll do something with it, but it would be better if they did like Battletech and distanced themselves from non original aspects.

It probably will never be totally forgotten. This year it is still remembered as an international speed bump to getting og Macross and Dyrl streaming outside of Japan. Beyond that it never really was its own franchise and was just a way to introduce people to Japanese Animation. Similar to Battle of the Planets or Star Blazers.

Please no! That was still the worst soundtrack I’ve ever heard. It was like a bunch of preschool kids music class had a horrible New York traffic accident -
Another G-Line kit, this time the light armor. The standard is one of my favorites and I can’t wait to get this one as well

That’s really disappointing to hear. I never bought any due to price, but had always been tempted. I guess I’ll stay clear for sure

From what I’ve seen on YouTube when they interviewed them at a recent toy fair, they’ve redone the figures. They may be slightly bigger. Kinda sounds closer to G.I Joe size, but have more articulation than the og stuff while keeping to the looks of the classics. The vehicles have similar design and transformation to the originals with newer tech and new gimmicks and effects pieces. They seem to be brand new toys and not just reissues.

Death is inevitable at this point, but the important thing is how your live your life. Not all of us will be immortalized in celluloid dreams, so we owe it to ourselves to live life to the fullest and try our best to leave this world with a bit of hope for the next generation.

Definitely don’t see them in that condition often , if ever
