Captain America: Brave New World - February 14, 2025
Big s replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I’ve been hearing that as well. Basically not as good as the greats, but far better than the majority of the films , especially the recent ones. I didn’t think as many people would check this one out, but family, friends and coworkers have gone out and watched it. I guess not much to do on the long weekend or something. Most of them really had fun with it, although there were a few that I talked to that weren’t too impressed but no one that hated it yet so far out of the people I know.- 105 replies

I remember the toy versions being very thin looking. A kit may be better, but those legs are supposed to be fairly chonky. They’d probably have to swap those out for fighter mode to keep it looking like the line art. I kinda wonder if it might be something that Max Factory is planning since they did the fire Valkyrie kit and might do the 17 variants at some point

Yeah, alclad looks amazing under other clear color or under clear plastics like the backing of clear sensors or headlights. It’s one of those things that often looks absolutely amazing in person, but can be really hard to photograph to show others how great it turns out

My daughter went with her fiance yesterday and said it’s not a perfect movie, but they had fun anyway and liked it. I may check it out, but probably will still wait for D+. They sent me a picture of the popcorn bucket and at least it’s not pervya little weird that its like your eating his brains- 105 replies

The 'Hey look at this really cool model build I saw' post

Yeah, not only the roughness of the colors, but all the individual extra scribing for added panels and those extra sensors. It’s a lot of added work -

That’s a good one. Really made it his own -
Most of them sort of have careers that are active. Maybe not all in great spots, but they don’t look too bad mostly for their ages. Are they going to be the main characters? And will it leave the planning stages?

Nice and crisp. Kinda realistic since he only used the armor once. It probably would’ve looked brand new -
They did for some of the Dougram stuff, but I don’t know if they’re gonna be that nice to Macross fans

New Bandai HG Macross Kits To Be Announced on 14Feb 2025
Big s replied to Graham's topic in Model kits
I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be more vf-19’s coming since they’ve never touched emerald force isn’t too different than the Kai. Hopefully not web exclusive -
Luckily they’ve dropped those years ago They do some surprising classics lately, but I think moderoid would beat them to kits, but hmr is an odd possibility. But it’s a long shot since they’ve never touched the franchise

I think the only big issue is durability, and the aqua clear should help, just make sure to test it first because it does take away some shine, but not a lot. Save some sprie

Macross DYRL in 4K UHD with English Subtitles
Big s replied to GGemini's topic in Movies and TV Series
I watched mostly on a worn out videotape of the U.S. release and I remember the more greenish look, but that all may be due to inferior quality of the video tape on an old school tv that may have had color issues or just a poor master copy that was given to American distribution. It wasn’t until the later dvd version I had where it looked a bit more blue. -

Meh -
That’s mainly because they require a gloss black enamel base coat to work
-
It’s mainly because it’s not really a true lacquer. There are some chrome paints that are far more durable, but they can be pricey
-
Alclad goes on very easily and looks amazing, but can rub off with a little touch. I tend to only use it on parts that I’ll never handle, like the back of lenses. They do make aqua clear that can seal the paint to make it more durable, but it will lose some of the shine. Other top coats can totally ruin it. Just be aware of its limitations and how to use it.
