Any news on the City Commander Trailer Set for classics Ultra Magnus? Been a while since I've sen anything.
-
Damn, looks really nice. I specially like how it kinda "opens up" so that the figure can get in. Hope I can resist until they do a Rey/Ley or better yet, a Yellow or Houquet.
-
Thanks! Ah yes, those mid renovation additions really do help. Really enjoyed getting a classics Ultra Magnus and a FP YF-19 in the mean time... Damn valkholism .
-
Hope the time flies by fast. I've had my collection boxed for almost two months thanks to the home remodelling we are doing for the coming baby. Technically we are finished but there's so much crap and boxes and touch-ups that need to be done thanks to the useless painters we hired that I haven’t taken anything out. Last pic before the boxing. Before the time vault closed its doors. I got to say that those Yamato 1/48 boxes are fantastic for storing stuff. I have the SOC Gunbuster (minus base) and a bunch of Revoltechs in the CF box and the Fast Packs, a Legios and a Tread plus other small things in the 1J. And that’s not counting the rightful valk owners of said boxes with all their things .

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
Twoducks replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
And now I finally understand the pelvis on this valk design and how the DX's supposed “chunkyness" could change: Look at this proto/production test of the 1/72 model kit: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?act=...st&id=57522 Does it not remind you of the DX? http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?act=...st&id=57525 That pic has the 1/72 model miss transformed in the crotch area (and the head). In the final version there appears to be a mini swing bar there for the legs that holds them in fighter but then swings down when the crotch flips for Battroid: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?act=...st&id=58600 http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?act=...st&id=58595 http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?act=...st&id=58598 I can't make out if the mini swing bar was there in the proto of the model and just forgotten to transform or if it was added later, but you can plainly see that the end result of that part really changes how the model looks. Now the DX has no indication of having said mini swing bar or other such system to lower the legs in Battroid nor does the 1/100. Could that part of the design be prone to breaking? Did they not want to break the fighter design by having that part under the plane? Did they not find a way to hide it (yet)? The 1/72 model custom of the VF-27 shown in klam1020 scans has the legs hanging up instead of down so maybe it is a bit tricky to pull of or very fragile. http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?act=...st&id=58631 If they do rework something, the one change to the DX proto that I thing would change the final look the most is a reworked crotch area. In other words: Aim for the top (of the crotch) Bandai!! -

I had forgotten about that series. I loved it as a kid. So, could Cowboy be Basara's father? -
Macross Frontier Final Episode Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*

I was falling into the “things are being rushed” camp after episode 24 but this episode is one word: Intense!! Plenty of great moments. I love Bobby's character (you know what I mean ). Macross attack earns extra awesomepoints. Bilrer's disappointment so nicely reflects that SDFM’s time has passed and that this was Frontier's story (but one can still wish someday we'll get to see the Megaroad again...) Verdict: It isn’t SDFM but I really enjoyed MF. BOMBAA!! So we are getting a MF movie. Freaking great! They can tease us with the love triangle all they want like they did in Dynamite but I do hope they develop the MZero connection or any other part of the M universe. -

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
Twoducks replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It's been so long since I last logged in (damn house painters)! Oh goody! 8 more pages since I last came; must be something good iside! *reads...* Surprise! A few unfinished product pics, people rabidly bitching about them, rare sprinkles of members saying in a normal tone that so far they like it or not and Eugimon and his kooky "those never ending legions of evil Bandai fanboy hoodlums" rants... Guess I haven't missed much -
No. I would pay for a partsformer or swapformer (like the GN-U Groizer X and Braiger): http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT34524 http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT34523
-
I just love my GN-U YF-21. The plastic quality does take it into a whole new level compared to the Revy. You really could make a partsforming fighter with some work! It would be perfect but the articulation wasn't up to what the real GN-U frame shows possible. Just a little swivel joint in the middle of the hips (where you see the black line) would free it up a lot. This little toy has shown me that I like the 21's anime magic robot mode over fighter. I'll probably dump my 1/60 YF-21 since its Battroid hasn’t grown on me and I just find the toy too expensive to just keep in fighter mode. Yamato's cute 1/200 fixed pose gasapons can satiate my fighter hunger a lot cheaper.
-
You can say that again! I've only done a transformation cycle on it. Nice complex and fun transformation (a lot more enjoyable than the 21), but the REAAAALLY loose arms dampers this. The right one can't have the shoulder angled. Posabilitty is weak (specially due to the looseness) when compared to the 1/48 king. The non locking cheast is REALLY anoying. Another thing, I feel like the wings should lock better in fighter but I can't. Haven't tried the FP in plane mode yet.

Mikimoto has changed his style a bit. I wouldn't have guessed this is based on his designs.

New arms design/rethink for VF-0S new release - Overdrive rep talks to
Twoducks replied to ruskiiVFaussie's topic in Toys
So the VF-0 will be fixed, for good, FINALLY. Yamato should put something on the box for future rereleases that have the fixed arm design. Some sellers will probably want to dump the old ones before offering the new ones. I guess investing time and money to fix it is a good sign for a possible 0D (Yamato pleeeeeeese). Or an armoured buldle... -
Looks like a race car with all of that text But is ooooh so puuurty! Me want.

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
Twoducks replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
One could say that getting the joy of multiple product lines for MF has actually bitten us in the ass. Since Bandai has three VF-25 lined up (three transforming VF-25 to be exact), they branch out their effort and centre on a different aspect in each one instead of focusing in just one toy to give us the “jack of all aces” or perfect valk. The chances of a Macross purist being let down are big. Since I only buy what I like (be it made by X, Y or Z), I don’t care if it deviates from the CG models or drawings of a famous designer. The more line art accurate model kit I don’t like so I don’t care about it. The take on the DX so far I like so it’s still on preorder and the 1/100 line, if done right could be my favourite future line. -

Twoducks replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
You have Kawamori "official line art" for them; the same line art people cited when talking about their plane modes. Neither the 21 nor the 19 look like it in battroid mode. A selling point of the GN-U's is "line art accurate". As I said, different objectives different looking products. Yes, faithful, which was Yamato’s objective. Said objective has its own draw backs; those being a fragile/unstable toy more aching to a very durable model kit, or a “collector display piece” as some people like to call the Yamatos in MW. The 1/48 is a more solid design so it can still feel like a toy. Bandai is already doing a thinner looking product: the model kit. They are also making two "toys", two transforming toys to be exact. One PT made to last and another line art accurate to play thanks to getting rid of the complexities of PT. See, different objectives, different looking products. Actually, I do have an idea: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?s=&a...st&p=650485 -
Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
Twoducks replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah, but the SV-51 does not invite you to pose it a lot. It's slenderness is there to show how pretty and perfect it is but not to touch it unless you have the patience to have the chest unlock, the weight balance get in the way and the fast packs popping off. If I can play with the DX and pose it like I do a 1/48 or even better, then its total win for me. Shouldn't this thing be judged first for it's fighter mode like the Yamatos? The YF-21 is gorgeous in fighter but really, I put my GN-U YF-21 and my 1/60 side by side and the big one’s battroid mode looks like it come from a weird distorted dimension. No one is saying that Yamato can’t design a valk for that, but still, the 1/60 Batroid is far from "line art accurate". And while your at it, the 1/60 19 isn’t line art accurate either (where are it’s chunky legs?). Do the Yamato GN-U's look like the 1/60 or the 1/200? No. They are different takes on the same designs by the same company with a different goal in mind (line art accurate action figure, PT, display piece). Same way as Gundam designs from different toy lines (MG kit, HCM-Pro, MSIA……..) will look slightly different from each other. Bandai has gone the way of three lines with different goals: One that is a sturdy PT toy (the "chunky”); one that is skinny and PT minus the landing gear (the model kit) and one that incorporates the two giving us a partsformer that so far looks good in proto and has pretty good chances of become a fun little toy since it doesn't worry about PT. -

Awesome news!! Yamato, make me a VF-0D soon cause Bandai is pushing hard for my money! And of course, this has to get quoted again: -
Thanks for the info! And yep, it doesn't sound bad at all. I like the take on the proto and being part of a whole line of other valks is a nice plus.

Please do so. I'm starting to really hate that model kit
