I'm handling my Roy toy right now and it is very good with one glaring exception.... fighter mode is screwed by those little metal pegs meant to hold the arms up at the interior of the elbow. The fit is so tight that when the arm is pressed up into it, it comes shooting down a moment later. It's the absolute worst way to even try to hold the arms up. I really hope ThreeZero addresses this going forward (but have very little hope they will). I was able to work around it by pressing the arms so far forward that the peg doesn't line up with the slot and then doing a little bend at the elbow... probably causes my arms to droop 1mm lower so not the end of the world. Still, such an easily fixed flaw on an otherwise very good toy. Ways this could be resolved: 1) Put small pegs on the arms that are received by slots into the legs. Bonus points, have a peg and slot on the otherside of the arms so they lock into each other also 2) Yamato V2 style, put pegs that pinch the arms into the right spot on the exterior of the upper bicep 3) Shape the existing metal peg like an "L" and have the arm slide back onto the "L" thus elevating it and locking it. For true perfection, they should redo the backpack the mold to make it thinner so the extra beefy arms could tuck up higher and not droop below the legs in fighter mode.

He's the one with the damaged shoulder right? Love that they're giving that to us.

My point is that there's no discernible benefit from them getting a distributor. They're a small company making products so niche that the people who need to know about them already do. Having them be available for 50% off at GameStop after a year of people looking at it and saying "why would i pay $300 for this things i don't recognize?" doesn't do therm or GameStop any good.
-
But the people who would buy their expensive and limited toys are already importing them.

The computer and electronics super geek thread
jenius replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's like a drink company touting their newest product as having 3x the artificial flavoring. -
I thought this was a kids logic collaboration, not Kitz Concept. There's a thread for it.

NEVER trust my pronunciations! They're always the least researched part of the video.

Bandai is so random, it's impossible to say. They teased doing more Macross7 toys so maybe a 17 or 11. The 11 would be a great segue to Macross Plus toys.

I appreciate his passion. I'm sure if a toy sells like a turd or there's enough of a negative response, he'll get the message. Though i remain worried he went silent after the Kickstarter and he still hasn't shipped me my battlepods!

They put them both up at the same time? Why they gotta attack my wallet like that?

I absolutely adore the Yamato YF-21 in fighter mode (ignoring the stupid landing gear that don't lock in place). It looks a little plain compared to the DX toy with its paint applications but otherwise, it's great. I don't love the DX toy in battroid mode as much as I love the Yamato in fighter mode. I do LIKE the DX in battroid mode, it's defintely a big improvement on the Yamato, especially when it comes to handling, but it's still not an amazing battroid mode. It has the giant shelf that makes the back look like an afterthought and the backpack is too wide (just like the Yamato) . Also, battroid mode requires a brace, which is cheating. I wish Arcadia would refresh the Yamato YF-21 with all new joints and optional legs for GERWALK/BATTROID utilizing the detachment that delimiter allows. I can't believe Arcadia gave us an updated SV-51 over the YF-21! The Yamato 1/72 Macross Plus toys are fun because they were the first transforming toys but yes, it's like comparing your middle school work to your college thesis at this point. Still, if heft is a major criteria for you, Arcadia products usually won't scratch your itch, they decided long ago that metal generally introduced more problems (paint, weight negatively impacting joints) than they fixed. Bandai has done a really good job identifying where metal can help without introducing big problems, like the feet on most their toys.

Seems that way, same as they did recently for the VF-4 reissue.

Lol, i have zero desire to revisit the PS1 or Saturn days. I like going back to old 16 bit 2D stuff but the early 3D efforts were rough. I'm sure there's a few diamonds in the rough though.

The Yamato is not glossy, it might even be more matte than the DX.
-
I remember that pic... I hoped it was a tease, but i think it might have just been coincidentally there and that was a long time ago now.
-
They never even teased one. It doesn't mean all hope is lost but with the DX just having been released, it seems unlikely.
-
Arcadia looks like they're not considering PF at the moment, likely due to exchange rate issues driving up costs. I suspect that's also why they have slowed way down. The yen just isn't with what it used to be and that's tough on a Japanese based toy company.
-
There aren't many VF-2 toys to speak of but it is easily the best. It's relatively small, which works against it a bit, but also means you won't lose too much shelf space.

I don't know, the fan ratings are much higher than Acolyte, so what are you all arguing about? Not a lot of people watched it, but those who did had a much more positive response (there are numbers for that too). It's wrong to say only SW megafans watched it and will love anything because they didn't love Acolyte. Seems unfair to say that this space goonies story needed to be so good it made everyone forget all the misfires... I don't think anything can be that great. Time for the great SW reboot!
