  1. I don't understand what's not to like about the trailer. It's just a teaser, has a lot of action, has some good actors in it. That's why I would guess it's just review bombing. People going "I hate Disney, you ruined Star Wars" thumbs down. I wonder how close in time the girl Jedi saying "I see fire" is to the events that follow. Maybe she's a bad little Jedi? Honestly, I'm so burnt out on Marvel and Star Wars. I haven't caught up on all the shows for either and don't know if I ever will. For Star Wars, I think I've only missed Andor and Obi Wan.
  2. The designs are probably the intellectual property of TRex and the toy companies lease them and pay a fixed development cost plus a per unit produced amount. Trex probably reduces the fixed cost of some of the engineering that can be carried forward. For the VF-171, Bandai allegedly specified they wanted the you to be as unique as possible and probably paid the full engineering price. They probably have some period of exclusivity included in the initial design work or maybe even a exclusivity ongoing charge they offer.
  3. I think everyone really ought to stick to Acolyte conversation here and not let this prequel teaser clip veer us back into discussions of what was worse, the prequel or sequel trilogies. That has been litigated and re-litigated numerous times on this board for people to go back and skim through. I think that can be summed up as "there are valid arguments in both camps for why both are worse, and elements of both that we can argue are better, so it's okay to be in either camp."
  4. Not surprising Chirico is a little on the small side, the cockpits are very tight for pilots with standard dimensions.
  5. I just heard that Vernor Vinge passed away. If you haven't heard of Vernor Vinge, you likely love some scifi that was heavily influenced by concepts he brought forward regarding a technological singularity. He also wrote several books that won Hugo awards. I've only read Fire Upon the Deep but I plan to catch up on some of his other works. His depiction of aliens which are truly alien to our experience (Skroderiders and Tines) challenges the reader is some very fun ways. There's an audiobook available if you're looking for a fun listen while you take a flight or something. Rest in Peace Vernor and thank you for your contributions. -

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

I think you're just buying a fold booster, not the DX YF-19. You can select a YF-19 but the price jumps.
  7. I grabbed mine from anime-export but I saw it also at biginjap last night. Since it's P-Bandai, the window at least should be open a bit longer though prices will be a bit higher.
  8. And ordered at the same time I shipped my first HMR scopedog purchase.
  9. Yeah, we have force users that don't get trained by the Jedi, Black Jedi, Gray Jedi, and maybe some Sith fan-boys/girls. Or, maybe at the end they'll say "Well, there was only one of 'em, so it couldn't have been a Sith" and just leave it open-ended to lots of groans.
  10. I assumed that this would be the case from the pricing. The special pods are significantly cheaper.
  11. Many years ago, I asked someone at Sentinel about her. They said that they wanted to find a way to make her. They said she was in the same category with the red and green Treads, they knew a few diehards would love them but that they probably wouldn't sell well enough for a full retail release. They were pondering if they could figure out some sort of an 'exclusive' release... like sell them at WF. Again, this was eons ago so it means nothing today except that the desire was there.
  12. Here's how that came about: 1) Start doing review of VF-171EX toys. Pull all of them and their armor parts out of storage 2) Remember that the missiles from the armor parts fit on YF-30 toys so I pull that out too 3) Test to see if the missiles work on VF-1 toys. Then start using VF-1 missiles on other toys. 4) Get a bunch of pictures of the YF-30 with some other missiles and go to add them to my YF-30 review and realize that it's not up to the standard of my more recent reviews 5) Update the YF-30 review with lots of new content and, seeing as it only had a transformation guide in one direction, make one of those also 6) Finally put the YF-30 toy away and turn my attention back to the VF-171 i was SUPPOSED to be reviewing all along. Shorter answer: It's new!
  13. Bump so people can discuss the upcoming fugo God of Flame
  14. I think this thing is looking better than I expected.
  15. Better than putting tabs on the backpack though.
  16. Yep, they always had a hard time believing it would sell enough units to be worthwhile... seems they're still struggling with that. Once we started seeing new prototype pics I thought they were finally over that hurdle but I guess not. I ordered the newest ride armor but I'm not shipping mine until the 0A Hi-Metal R hits shelves.
  17. As producer guy would say: Wow wow wow... wow

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

If anyone else goes, I could use that tiny session metallic exclusive!
  19. Can they get the Rock to play the Boulder? My kids loved it so I loved it, in for two more seasons.
  20. I saw it today too. I agree that if you liked the first one, you'll probably like this one. I'm not a huge Dune fan but my wife and her entire family LOVE it. I read the first three books and then I had to give up. Dune for me is "miserable people behaving miserably." I don't need happy books, I loved Consider Phlebas, but Dune crushes itself under its own mass. So getting back to this movie: One thing I really hate is the depiction of the Harkonnens. They are cartoon bad guys, so over-the-top they are unbelievable. Then they're rendered in black&white to try to invoke WW2 nazi propaghanda. Houses at war with each other can consider each other evil and treacherous, and the actions of the Harkonnens largely do that, so why do we need all the ultimately silly ultra evil moments? I'd say it's a decent 7/10. Visually splending, paced decently, and I don't know how you make a better Dune movie than these two stitched together. That said, any 'movie' that takes nearly 6 hours to tell shouldn't be a movie in this day and age, it should be a mini series on a streaming network. I haven't seen the original Dune mini series but I've heard great things and would think that's the way to go again.
