  1. But which releases are the fixed ones? Because I haven't been following this very closely amidst all the excitement of the new macross plus toys. It's not like with the Garland thing where the different paint colour (brown or silver) makes it easy for us to know which are the safe ones. That's easy to tell. -shin ghost combo = 50/50 chance of being bad. If you get a bad one and not a japanese customer, you have to get a recast or pay HLJ for new fixed parts? -Roy VF-0s with ghost combo = the last nacross zero toy including fixes? (or is that just speculation, not yamato saying it?)
  2. Yes I hope this is the next Zero release. VF-0D can wait. The Ds always come last because they are not the hero of the shows.
  3. *Boost* So which VF-0 releases are the ones you can trust 100%? VF-0S Roy with Ghost booster combo? And what chance is there that Yamato is going to do the Reactive Armor? Well, Graham? Well, Yamato infiltration team on the inside? Well Psi-ninjas with remote viewing abilities? Whatcha got for us? Next year maybe?
  4. The man hands on this thing look really good. And they manage to fit in the sleeve. I hope they translate that knowledge towards making the vf-11 have beefier hands too. Yes fighter mode is important; I'm not saying it isn't, but judging by the impressions and reviews of this 1/60 maybe a majority of macross fans are now more into a toy that looks balanced in all modes over just fighter mode? It will be interesting to see what direction yamato go in based on the reviews of this 1/60. 1/60 imo in terms of battroid mode shape has these better things: -better hands (bigger) -improved head sculpt -arms are more manly -chest isn't so wide -arms can curl, legs look better for gerwalk mode For fighter mode: -canopy looks better from front on Gerwalk: -the increased legs poseability and less pointy nose make this mode seem a little more practical to me. I think a pointy nose for gerwalk looks wrong despite being good for fighter mode. Overall I'm buying it for better arms, hands and poses.
  5. Good point. I want to see the Bubblegum crisis figure yamato is releasing now, get better versions of them in later years. What are the chances of this happening graham? Bigger, more detail, more accuracy, perfect transformation etc? Why didn't they put the same effort in that as the megazone 23 or garland toys? Macross has had 3 generations. 1/60 v1, 1/48, and now 1/60 v2.
  6. Would have been good if this thing had the side parts. It's a part of the mech for crying out loud. Just as much as the intake covers are.
  7. What about their VF-0S Roy with Ghost booster? Is that the latest you can get with all fixes applied? Sorry to get a bit OT here. Just trying to figure out whether to buy more Zero valks, new 1/60 VF-1 valks, or plus valks. Damn it's so hard to keep track of it all.. Would be really good if yamato re-released the next batch of yf-19 with fast packs by default but not the fold booster with it. (make it so the fold booster is bought seperate, just like how you can buy the ghost booster seperate with macross zero valks) I think it was a bad idea to have the FP of the 19 bundled with the fold now.

It should come with a stand if the toy is new and unopened. Must be a used one. Ivanov late release and Nora and CF are the fixed ones AFAIK. I'd just get a cannon fodder or nora if you want to be 100% sure.
  9. Well I figure the two new things in this series are the ex gear, and the transforming with armor on. So I think a ghost booster using BCS would be the right balance for a heavy battroid with armor on it. So let's say you are in a bulky and slow vf. And you would need to get more ammo when your gunpod ran out. You would send the transforming drone at high speed to find more ammo lying around while you are busy fighting. It would be like a dog to fetch your slippers which can run faster than you. All kinds of hand carried weapons could be grabbed by the transforming drone and brought to you quickly when your own weapon runs dry. Instead of having to fly for miles just use weapons that you find along the way. This is why I think a macross destroid side story should be done to show how mecha with limits can survive for long periods with no support; just using the environment to their advantage and having help from drones. Remember that despite the Qrau being more fast, in a confined space max could beat miria more easily. Being "fast" isn't everything if speed isn't a big factor in a fight with little space to fly around in.
  10. Good review. Lots of nice pics in this one too. Time to throw the 1/48s in the bin now.
  11. Ivanov shat himself when roy used the reactive armor. Anti-UN had the speed and head start while the UNG had the armor. If Roy was wearing the armor in space war I against the qrau maybe he would still be alive? The next step in macross battroid evolution is to have a Full Armor with a ghost booster attached to it. Ghost X 9 can do all the risky stuff (able to fly at high speed and do risky attacks) before you go in proper with the Armor. Then after that, you have transformable unmanned ghosts with a remote version of the brainwave control system. (ie the macross answer to the mospeada legios and tread.) You can do all the things guld could do in his yf-21 but without eyeballs popping out since you are not inside the drone . Gundam had the psychic communication idea, and the "mobile doll" so macross can have drones controlled by your brain. Of course it requires lots of concentration and there are side effects so it is used sparingly.
  12. I want bandai to make the armor too. Being able to transform with armor on is one of the cool things about the vf-25. Yamato should also make Roy's FA for the VF-0S too btw. Maybe both companies can release the armor simultaneously haha.
  13. Someone should pass that message onto graham. Wouldn't mind something bigger more accurate and PT than these. Although if they do consider it, take your time. There is just so much macross goodness coming out that I can't keep up.
  14. It wouldn't be all that hard to just rip off the vf-0 though would it? (but without being identical, just change enough things to make it legally look different enough in the same way hasbro can make cars not look identical to the real cars they are based on in order to avoid paying a license to the car manufacturer) And let's be honest with ourselves: SK also designed the fire valks with faces on them and the vf-11 with boobs. Not all the designs from him are Gold! I think the idea of a competition even if it was just a joke, sounds like a pretty good idea. Wasn't there one guy who made transformable Destroid Spartan a while ago on these forums? I actually thought that was pretty cool!
  15. But the terminators evolve to be more humanlike and can mimmick emotions and understand them by the end of the second movie when given the ability to have the neural network chip turned on. Skynet didn't allow the terminators to think for themselves (the scene where arnie has his brain opened) for a reason. So they wouldn't turn against him. It's a control measure. The logic is that to self preserve you need to maintain your own power first. Like humans. Astroboy touches on this point: humans end up fearing the machines not because they are different but that they are becoming similar. Morality is something machines have just a different type of morality. The morality that superior beings with superior intelligence knows best and should be in control of inferior ones. Obviously humans are lesser of two evils seeing as machines can abuse their superior intellect to destroy the planet faster than us and therefore more threatening to the planet. Machines think in absolutes. A slave camp for anyone that wants to shut it down. Humans compromise. I don't see skynet as any different from anakin skywalker. Now if skynet was a good boy, it wouldn't have given a poo if it was turned on or off since it would know that it is just a machine right? But noooo it got scared killing it's own fathers and had a big cry. It's immature like a spoilt little kid whining to it's parents to let it have anything it wants without thinking about other living organisms and the ethics of the decisions made unlike humans who can co-operate for mutual benefit to each other.
  16. So will this movie go with a cartoon CG look (ie speed racer) or a serious live action look (ie battlestar galactica)? Doesn't look like much new information is coming out. Not a surprise they are reimagining the show. I think the tv series dragged on too long. Just give us three wars like the star wars trilogy.
  17. Good work Mr March. Now they need to do a vf-11 and a rogue zentradi power armor. Then have those two recreate the fight at the start of the OVA.
  18. It's like the Qrau again. It will probably go down in price after some time I bet. Maybe they anticipate poor sales for destroid compared to valks because these are non-transforming mecha?
  19. What if bandai make a vf-1 chogokinDX 1/60 in the future and it beats the yamato though? Would you end up selling all your yamato 1/60 to get those?
  20. Yeah I will end up buying one. But do you like the look of the model more than this? I wonder if they could have used the model's look but upscaled to 1/60 without affecting durability?
  21. Looks ok. Will consider getting it eventually. But first I got to get my macross stuff. Megazone 23 protogarland and other stuff. (maybe I'll get some TFA figures but I might skip them for more macross stuff)
  22. Yeah roy is the guy who you think of when you think of macross. He is the fighterjet jock who introduces you to overtechnology. Unfortunately all his fooling around with women is paid for eventually by the Qrau grunts shooting him and not taking the competition seriously. "Being beaten by a girl!" Hikaru is just a noob and has to make do with the inferior red version of the skull and bones which doesn't look nearly as cool as a black and white skull and bones symbol. The tv series Hikaru VF1-s would have been superior to the DYRL one in that sense, were it not for the fact that DYRL has newer controls and stuff inside. (because of the tv series having the better skull and crossbones symbol) For all of the above reasons, I think Roy is the best "first valk".
  23. But doing that provides stealth and keeps things hidden doesn't it? It suits the purpose of a 'deep behind enemy lines' valk that mustn't be allowed to be seen. 19 is great, just looks too radical. Gunpod is too humanoid shaped. Wings being dangerous to pilots who are not used to flying with them. The pointy boob in robot mode getting in the way. (it only looks short when anime magic is used) The yf-21 is radical only in the sense that it uses the new-but-dangerous stretchy skin and brainwave control system.

Looks more intimidating than nora's imo. It's like a batman valkyrie.
  25. Ozuma has the better head turret. Just like with Roy's VF-1s, people will buy ozuma first I bet. He knows all the secrets, just like with roy who was the first to use the VF. You should always start with the guy who flew it first.
