  1. Yeah I think it's less risky knowing what parts of the valk to grip while you pull or push something too. Sometimes it pays to grip a specific point on the toy that is chunkier than another part so that only the chunky part is stressed and not the fragile part. Also there may be hidden clicks inside the toy you can't see that aren't obvious. (eg the fins on the yamato 1/60 vf-1 clicking out before you fold them - all these little things to remember when you haven't transformed a toy for a long time are what I use the guides for just in case I forget) I'm one of the guys that don't transform his toys very often and tend to leave the toy alone for a long time in one mode. So I like to have a quick reference to jog my memory. heh
  2. So to all those who broke some part, was it due more to carelessness or is it just that the breakage came unexpectedly despite being careful? The answer to that is important to me. It's the reason why I always am ultra careful with yamato toys even though people reasure you that it's not as delicate as people say on boards. (for example the plastic nubs on the vb-6 monster which may one day break if you transform it too much)
  3. I would say save all your money on the 1/60 line instead. You should also save some money to get the Beagle Ride Armor from mospeada since you like bikes!
  4. I love the destroids. These look detailed and stuff! I bought the QRau and I liked that but one thing I hope yamato get used to is making good clicky joints. Because these are non transforming robots it shouldn't be that hard. I'm lagging behind everyone in getting everything so I want them to take their time with it and make sure the QC is high.
  5. Thanks for the pics jenius. Looks cool. But I can't be tempted away from the beagle! Hopefully there are some transformation pics of the beagle appearing. I want to see it being transformed!
  6. Anyone getting the CMs Yellow Ride Armor?
  7. That new castlevania ds game looks good. Big fan of this franchise. Still need to get the PSP game that comes with SOTN on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcVXk4jiNQU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzyXjeAuNso Glad they ditched the anime styled characters. I would so like to see a Wii castlevania that is a 2d side scroller. Sell it online just like how capcom has made retro megaman sequel for the wii.
  8. Oh and good news that the mpc beta is coming out finally. "Buy an alpha to get a beta!!!" I'm saving up for the beagle Ride Armor. I might also get the yellow belmont megahouse ride armor with the big wheels. Those wheels being small was the difference between me not wanting the MH to me wanting one. So it was a deal for me to see them beefed up a little. Congratulations MH, for improving and winning a sale from me. I DO hope that one of these companies attempt to challenge CMs and Toynami on the alpha and beta one day. Then later maybe they could consider the non-transforming enemy mecha which I would imagine would be easy to do.
  9. I'd just like to say that I bought the CMs legioss + tread (the red one) but that even though it is overpriced, it's more on the level of what yamato's 1/72 macross toys were on in terms of trying to be accurate and in terms of details and ugly bits. (ugly things can be gaps, bars that appear where none do on the show, exposed screws, weird shape in one mode etc) Look, bottom line is this: It doesn't "suck", but it's not that great either. I own one so I think I can share an educated/informed opinion on it. Now that doesn't mean we aren't grateful they weren't made or that there isn't a big attempt to please us. Just that if you were to review a toy you have to take into account all fan criticisms so they can decide for themselves if the mentioned features affect thier decision to purchase it or not. Just saying it's "good or bad" without actually mentioning why you like or hate it, is more annoying to me than whether you have a rude attitude or a polite manner or whatever. So don't think you "owe companies" respect or anything because they are just businesses not charities! But at the same time, please understand that if you just say it sucks and not give reasons then you are not helping them to unsuck. That's why I like coming into the threads to hear what others think of the toys so I know whether they are really worth buying or not. You can't get independent opinions from people who work within the company or who have a vested interest in it. (or just fans who have developed a sense of blind 'loyalty' to a brand and feel they have to defend the name of the brand more than give us the truth about the product itself) One of the biggest things on the CMs Legioss+tread toy that yamato could learn from is the clicky joint. F*ck I love them! The person who mentioned that they like plastic toys where the joints don't loosen over time due to weight or the friction getting worse from play, I totally agree with. This is very important to me and the reason I decided to eat the cost of the CMs. I want something that can last. I'm not a collector who leaves his things in the box and never opens it. I occasionally transform it and display it and stuff. So this was an important factor in my decision. The CMs Tread if taken on its own merits, (no worrying about the link up to the legioss) is a great robot with great articulation in the arms. You won't be disapointed with it. (except for the fact that the mecha design of it is so simplistic but that is not CMs fault) I think many people who don't care about linkup accuracy will get this for the beta. Just having one is probably the motivating factor for the purchase. No loose joints, floppy limbs, or cracking with these guys! Yamato may get points for their sculpt accuracy but remember their weakness seems to be the joints and stuff. So It's give or take. You can have a toy that looks close to model kits but feels a little fragile in bot mode, or a toy that realises it's not a collectors item only and is able to be handled without stress but which sacrifices some things. CMs obviously went for the latter. The clicky joints, the bright anime colours, how it is all plastic and feels light to hold etc It's definitely more a toy, than a toy trying to be close to a model. (which is what yamato are going after) I think a good example of the difference between the CMs approach vs Yamato approach to things is in comparing their VB-6 Monster to the Beta Fighter. They both act as bombers, both transform, both have a sense of bulk, both don't have diecast in them, both have flaws. (VB-6 has the gaps, VB-6 has no locking mechanism for the cannon in Gerwalk mode similar to how the CMs Tread/Beta doesn't lock the legs to the itself in flying mode) The differences in approach: The monster is a complex transformation and you appreciate the fact it CAN transform into things, but notice the joints seem a little loose in batttroid mode? Notice how the hips are just friction joints? Notice how the the arms seem to need more friction? The CMs Beta/Tread doesn't suffer that problem. The clicky joints in robot mode make it "fun" to pose and stuff because it's a toy not just for display. Sure it is brightly-coloured, but you actually want to hold it in your hands. In the collection DX review the reviewer mentions he doesn't care about accuracy that much so the focus is really the money. How much money means to you will be the deciding factor on whether to buy it. Whether you are a rich kid with lots of money to spare, or a fan desperate to have something that you can't have, your opinion will range from "this sucks", to "it's ok, if you can afford it but could have been much better". But I don't think any one could say it's "great" because imo it feels a little rushed. Things like the locking together of the arms in fighter mode would have been really easy to do. (just as yamato including side parts with the 1/60 vf-1 would have been easy) I tend to agree with the review: better than having a fragile MPC, but not good value for $. You either have to have lots of money to burn, or be despserate to own it, to even consider the purchase, so it's good for mospeada fans that it was made, but it's not the second coming of toys that you should be so excited about it. The only reason to be excited is because you are a thirsty person who finds water in a dry desert so this affects your judgement. To a dehydrated person it must taste oh so good!
  10. As with the yf-21 transformation video I've attached the YF-19 transformation movies to this thread for those on slow 56k connection who can't be Fq'd visiting Youtube every time they want to watch it. This will help those who want to keep it for viewing offline. Battroid To Fighter: Part 1 of 3 Transform_the_YF_19_from_Battroid_to_Fighter.part1.zip Part 2 of 3 Transform_the_YF_19_from_Battroid_to_Fighter.part2.zip Part 3 of 3 Transform_the_YF_19_from_Battroid_to_Fighter.part3.zip Instructions: 1. Click to download ALL files first. You MUST have the whole set before the next step. It's a single file split up into pieces. (I had to do this because the forum seems to have problem with bigger sizes for some reason) 2. Rename the files' name extension from ".zip" to ".rar". You have to do this step because this forum doesn't like other file types so I had to rename the ".rar" files to ".zip" when I first uploaded them, just so that they wouldn't be rejected. Even if you don't want to watch the movie right now, just rename the ".zip" back to ".rar" as soon as they finish downloading to avoid confusion. 3. Use Winrar to unrar (uncompress) the files (part 1 to part 3) to the directory you saved these files to. (go into windows explorer and rightclick on the ".part 1.rar" file and choose the "extract here" option on the menu if you wish. This is a nice shortcut to extracting to the directory the compressed files are in) WinRar will gather all 3 parts and combine them into the single ".flv file which is the file you need to open to watch the movie. 4. delete all the ".rar" files after the movie is combined into the complete ".flv" movie file. You'll need a video player that can view the flash video file format, to watch the movie. Me? I already have a codec pack installed on my media player that supports the ".flv" file format though, so I just use media player classic to view like I would with any other movie type. Fighter To Battroid: Part 1 of 2 Transform_the_YF_19_from_Fighter_to_Battroid.part1.zip Part 2 of 2 Transform_the_YF_19_from_Fighter_to_Battroid.part2.zip Instructions: Use the above instructions for the first movie as the guide for this movie. IE 1. download all files to hdd before anything 2. rename the the .zip file back to .rar which is what they originally were. 3. uncompress/extract from .rar files to create the full .flv file. 4. cleanup/delete the .rar files and keep the .flv movie file for later viewing..then view it. If you have any problems getting it to work, let me know..
  11. I can see it now: the first customs of the 1/60 vf-1d are going to be weathered VF-1D with busted arm and battle damage. The super O should come with 3 pilots. 1 is hikaru 1 is minmay when she goes on the date 1 is misa when hikaru and misa both escape the alien ship and get seperated.
  12. Being crazy means you have an invisible shield that protects you from danger in comic books.
  13. I don't get it..It's just a dirty toy. Why are you all buying something that has been deliberately damaged and abused?
  14. The super packs in the tv series acted in the same way the strike and super packs did in DYRL. You never actually saw the super packs used in the atmosphere in the tv series. So I think the upgrade from valkyrie to super (or strike) valkyrie is very well done in both movie and tv series. When I think about super valks I think of the valk actually NEEDING the extra firepower and speed to deal with an alien enemy that outnumbers the humans, and so upgrades like that don't actually seem so over-the-top anymore. The upgrade is just a cheaper alternative to creating a new fighter by merely boosting performance of an old one. (like how you might upgrade only certain parts to your existing car in a gran turismo type game to save money, before finally being able to afford a new, and much better one) The tacked-on feel of the parts reminds you that it's trying to stretch an old vehicle beyond its limit, and gradually make old ones still reuseable instead of completely wasting them. Not to mention allowing upgrade path to be more free by making the parts seperate so that the robot can be tailored for the mission. (eg gbp armor looks clumsy and bulky but could do a lot more damage than a naked valk. A naked valk however had more options because it's not stuck in one mode) Instead of having three seperate robot you just have one basic one with options to equip it with super/strike parts, gbp armor, or go naked. (for times where all the mission is just flying around in the atmosphere)
  15. Downloading these now. Thanks.
  16. I hope the dvd/blu ray extras shows how the batpod connects to the tumbler.
  17. Just use the designs from mospeada already geez... Just modernise the edges the way kawamori modernised the vf-1 as the vf-0. But make it so that the beta fighter isn't a beta fighter but something like the ghost booster where it is completely allowed to fly unmanned and act autonomously like the motoslave? Its role is as a transformable ghost drone and booster similar to the booster that the glaug uses when it is docked with it. This way if the movie fails we get out legioss and tread toys. I could barely afford my CMs one.
  18. The beagle looks great. That price is steep. I'm going to wait for reivews before jumping in. When toynami brings theirs out, maybe someone can make recast heads from the japanese release so we can put the original on it?
  19. My red CMs legioss and tread arrived. Looks really bright. Not enough locking mechanisms in fighter mode. Great arm articulation. No translucent plastic on the gunpod where sensor is. But nice clicky joints on the hips (this is what I wish yamato would use) and looks to be able to handled without risk of breakage. Not really much to say that hasn't been mentioned in reviews. Overall it feels like CMs rushd this toy. Eg the big gaps on the calves of robot mode, how the missiles hatches on the Tread don't open all the way, (I had to file away a few millimetres of plastic just so the doors could properly open so all 3 rows of missiles had clearance) and of course the connecting piece. I bought this in the belief that no other company was going to make a legioss tread combo anytime soon. But I do feel satisfied that I got it despite the price. It's the only mospeada toy I own.
  20. I won't be able to get the dark legios. Already ordered a red. And to the guy responding to my post saying that they like the masterpiece alpha and beta better, that's cool. Those are robotech toys. They are under the robotech masterpiece label. These CMs brought over would be "Mospeada" toys for fans of mospeada outside japan.. Just like how you got the 1/100 valks as macross toys, and Robotech vf-1 MPC as robotech collectors items. You can have both. Bringing over the CMs won't affect robotech alpha and beta MPC since these are for robotech fans. And yeah the idea of beagle giving it a go and trying to make a legioss and tread sounds very appealing to me. Wonder if it will ever happen in future?
  21. My factory garland seems ok. Remember the red ones were the un-fixed ones so it shouldn't be a surprise. But take a pic of the breakage and see how you go contacting them about the problem.
  22. Green and blue one looks ok. Low vis will probably be the most appealing in the long run though. It would be like the "what if?" plane, where roy had joined ivanov, his teacher, and went on the side of the anti-un as a cannon fodder pilot. (with similar paintscheme to shin's grey cf vf-0) You could even have a modified roys skull emblem on the low vis. It would look similar to the low vis vf-1 skull, but with a few differences. Roy didn't become a traitor though: he just joins anti-un to spy on them. heh
  23. Hopefully they don't get sloppy with the 1/60 destroids after all this attention on valks.
  24. ...and a picture of what part is breaking would be handy. If possible also show us what is being damaged.
  25. He was just confused. He doesn't know that the 1/48 also had removable nose. From now on when you mentioned the nosecone of the 1/60 'version 2' just say "removable cockpit section". Some people who are noobs are going to get confused because of the terminology being used. "Nosecone of 1/48". "nosecone of 1/60". "the nosecone of 1/60 is no longer removable". See what I mean? "removable cockpit piece" would be less confusing I think. It's not just the nose tip that is removed. Instead it is the whole cockpit area. 1/48 was only the nosecone tip. Unless you owned a 1/48 or looked at pics of the removed piece you wouldn't know what people are referring to.
