Does lineart exist of the two connecting together? It was always so mysterious how these two things linked up to me. I wish they had a hands-on demonstration of the beta being transformed and linked up. Anyway: toynami, just bring over the cms version as a "toy" (not under masterpiece collection title) for mospeada fans outside of japan. It's not going to compete with the robotech versions because everyone who ever wanted a robotech alpha bought it already and it's not as if the beta will ever come out. Come on already. It's been yeeeeaaarrs. I remember ages ago on the forums they said: "Buy an alpha to get a beta" Then when everyone bought one, the beta still never came out. lol "Coming soon!" my ass. About the heads: Fifibeat: There are new heads for the treads.(noncanon? don't know and don't care) and there are exclusive "more realistic" head for the beagle ride armor. In the video, the "head on a stick" you can see is the exclusive us version for beagle ride armor. I don't think it's crap or anything, but it would be cool if they just let us have it "free" packaged with the normal manga head.

I actually want it to happen and would prefer it over the 1/60. I find that because the VF-1 is *popular + it's *"milkable" plus the fact that is IS smaller than the other newer valkyrie designs, it deserves a higher detailed release with improvements. If they can cram more detail into a smaller space for 1/60, imagine what they can do for 1/48? But...... I would want better joint system with clicks and stuff. Maybe leave out the diecast FP and make them plastic, but improve joints so they don't just rely on friction from the rubber inside the shoulder and hips. As you can see with the bigger mecha like the VB-6 monster and the 1/60 Qrau, you need those clicky joints for these bigger guys. Espceically if you like to display them in battroid mode flying or floating with limbs spread out to the sides or whatever. That should be the main selling point to upgrade from old 1/48 to new 1/48. Aside from better sculpt and improvements like the shoulders "hanging so low from the bottom of the fighter" problem. Two seater pilots (minmay and hikaru in the vf-1d, or DYRL hikaru and Misa in the Super Ostrich) would have more detail so it would make it worth doing. *as in it had a popular tv series based on it, plus is recognisable to many generations of macross fan due to exposure and also had so many paintscheme variations to justify many releases.

But collectors won't be able to buy both if the 1/48 line starts getting harder to find (like how some people still like to buy vintage chunky munky of the rarer valk types?) in future. That's all I'm saying. It could be yamato lied when they told graham that 1/48 wouldn't be getting any new releases or reissues, (since 1/60 is their focus now) but actually change their mind and intend to re-release and reissue new 1/48 but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that 1/48 DO one day get discontinued at all stores like the 1/72 or any older yamato toy. And if collectors (who like owning stuff for the sake of having all releases of something) come in at some later date, that is probably when the price goes back up in future. So what might happen is all those angel birds that are floating around out there might one day be the one thing the collector still needs to buy to feel complete. These people have too much money and just buy everything. One of the reasons I don't collect is the doubling-up of releases. Toynami's 1/100 is an example. They are releasing fast packs for the non-fast pack 1/100 and then now they are going to release valks with fp boxed inside them. So it feels like they "double-dipped" and made you buy more than you wanted. Instead of just releasing 1/100 with FP in the beginning you were tempted to just get non-fp toys earlier. Urgh. alaska base tv green valk! someone should make one imo. Would be good for noobs who still haven't bought any yamato before and want to take advantage of these new bargain priced 1/48s vs the new cheaper 1/60 vf-1 so they can make a choice. As I said the only reason they are cheap for now is because stores want to clear stock imo. Then over time, when the numbers of them out there dwindle, the collectors will start wanting to find and hunt the few they didn't or couldn't buy because they were too busy buying other stuff at the time. As an example: the CF SV-51 might be going cheap now, because "it's just an unpopular cannon fodder and doesn't look as good as the ace pilot valks" but ..... to a collector that might one day be the one valk they wish they bought when it was available. (assuming yamato will never ever reissue it - but there is no reason to think that, I'm just using that as an example of how prices might go high again after stores clear it, when something is vintage/rare/hard to get in future to all those people who are mad collectors) The only reason I don't buy the CF SV-51 is "other stuff is out right now" not because I think it's not a bargain or anything. I like cannon fodder. Who cares about popularity? I think Shin's grey vf-0A looks cooler than the white roy vf-0s. (except for the head turret) Just because roy is popular, doesn't mean much to me personally. Generally I see 1/60 vf-1 as an "upgrade from 1/48" to a lot of people. Maybe not lovers of larger sizes. Because it will -be in scale to so many other toys out there, -better posability, -playability, -two seaters -may get better-proportioned gbp (just speculating here because the old 1/60 gbp looks better than the 1/48 one)

Yamato will be coming out with more weathering 1/48 types. See here: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=26955 If I were you I would wait till a price is announced and get them. Buy the FP cheap when everyone offloads their old 1/48 on ebay.. Is that what everyone is going to do now that 1/60s version 2 has made it obsolete? I think the whole reason you;re seeing them go cheap is because yamato has finished with it and people are going to upgrade to version 2 1/60. So they are getting rid of old stock to bring in new stock. But after they become hard to find later, (discontinued) the 'collectors' may be willing to pay a higher price for them if they have way too much money and want to complete their 1/48 line. (these are the people who never open their boxes!) But that's just me. If you've never had a FP roy, get the cheap 1/48. These may actually go up in price after the initial trend to sell them off quickly, due to yamato eventually phasing it out so that there is no more 1/48 releases. ...But if you want something new: maybe wait for more news of these 1/48 weathered specials or the TV series VF-1A max. (assuming yamato isn't going to make them super duper expensive for no other reason than "they are weathered". I mean low vis was normal-priced right?)

youtube wouldn't allow that. Maybe redtube, but I don't see much gay pron on that one (nor would I be looking for it unless its the girl kind).

QFT. The magazines have got to have something to talk about each month so bandai must show something in stages. Doesn't mean the final thing will look anything like it. They could be just pretending that's how far they are and in reality they've already finished it. What MW needs is a graham for bandai news. "Ahh so greg, What can you tell us about the vf-25?" Greg: "Once you see the final thing you won't be disapointed. I am playing with it now but can't show you anything. It's all very accurate to the lineart, it's going to cause you to upset your girlfriend, and everything locks together good and is virtually indestructible after I dropped it out the window and almost accidentally killed a small child with it. Diecast parts didn't have any paintchipping where the toy hit the floor either. I'm selling all my toys on ebay now to buy multiples."

Maybe there are casual macross fans who are actually vintage toy hunters. So they want the old school stuff? (like how people buy transformers 25th aniversary prime?) OR..could just be that the fan is a dad and thier little kid likes macross and after watching it, the only child-safe valk is the chunky munky. Seriosly though: bandai. It's time you upgrade the vf-1 already. Maybe you guys can make your own version of the 1/48 VF-1 and push the yamato 1/48 VF-1 toy out of the market? -Make it have the twoseater cockpit. -make it have tampo printing everywhere. - -Give it really strong quality ratchet joints. - -Improve the sculpt so the chest isn't so wide. -Man Hands! -cheaper price! FP included cheap. -leaner GBP armor -small boxes -all missiles able to be kept on the valk in battroid mode while the wings are swept down all the way without being obstructed -swappable heads for customs -side parts Then get toynami to release it. And by the time yamato makes V2 1/48, you will have the head start. You got to be like bruce lee in fifibeat's avatar. Use your speed to your advantage!

Err.. guys go watch the collection dx youtube vid. The us version of the beagle gets a different head. Not sure if that means it's "extra", or just replaces the japanese original manga-esque face or not. vid here: summary of what's in vid: http://www.collectiondx.com/node/2685 Would love both of them though! either way fans of either robotech or mospeada....you will.... http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=kfwj2IVc4OI ....WIIIIIN!!

It'd be cool if they could bring over the CMs as mospeada toys. (I talked about that in the mospeada thread) toynami;s gbp 1/100 looks pretty cool. See I think it's better they focus on the smaller stuff first, profit from that, then slowly work there way up to larger stuff. What you want to do is attract the casual fan first who has just watched all those robotech dvds, but isn't hardcore enough to buy collector toys, and then after squeezing as much money out of that, come up with improved versions. So instead of non-transforming superposeables you have smaller transforming valks, and then the more expensive MPC. But in the meantime, bring over what is already available overseas. And you know, there may actually be some japanese buyers who want to buy the ROBOTECH versions of toys too. If they can get a vf-1d chunky munky or TV VF-1A Max they can gloat about that to all the other collectors who never knew about that. I'm sure there is some extra money to made from those. (although they will probably think it is a bootleg or something hehe)

Starfighter Justification, your ideas
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Knight26's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Drones but they may act too predictable and easy to trap. In many movies the drones just head straight for the thing they want to kill and never notice what else is around them. A combination of drone and humans might be the answer. This reminds me: http://www.cracked.com/article_16338_8-cla...-their-job.html heehee I think skorponok was my fave LA Transformer if only because he was mindless yet deadly because he hid in the sand. Like the stealthy rambo of the bunch. I think he is a good example of how a mindless robot is in fact more competent and less useless than smart ones in some way. Animals don't think about what they do before doing things just reacting on instinct. But maybe that is what is needed to get the edge in combat? Just forget about your purpose and react to something quickly to survive. Terminators were slow, let themselves be seen, and got owned by another machine because they were ignorant of the situation. But think about the scary dumb robot able to sneak about as if hunting something? (no warning, no need to alert people to your presence, patient etc Instead of going in a straight line like Arnie, they will go around, find the best place to attack from, then suddenly attack) -
probably already posted but: http://www.collectiondx.com/node/2685#comment yeah the toynami cyclone = scrapped. Fans of that one might be pissed. You guys buying the US beagle ride armor/cyclone version with "exclusive head"? (shaddup). What is wrong with the beagle's original head? I'm scared the US version head of the beagle ride armor will fall off or something now.. I just want a non-robotech ride armor under 'mospeada' title, not necessarily as a robotech toy.

The parts that cover up the gap between the chestplate and backplate. It was a piece you got with the 1/48 GBP parts set. But it also would have been handy if that part was actually standard with all valks for those who like to have that gap sealed up like in the anime. It's not a MAJOR flaw or anything, just that we all wish it was included so we don't have to buy recasts. This is similar to how some people wish "clown/bubble hands" were included with all 1/48 valks (not just tv series ones) because they like that the grip of the hands is strong and the size of the hand looks better than the default robot/chicken hands. The covering up of gaps makes a real difference to the battroid mode's appearance. Almost as important as the "shoulders hanging too low in fighter mode" complaint that people kept bringing up with the 1/48 that turned them off. It's all about accuracy and a sense of completness I guess.
-
Yeah but technology has gotten better. That's why it's ok to bash the old toys from the past like the macross 7 1/65 toys since our standards have gotten higher since then. Vintage toys were cool for their time, but if we didn't expect them to outdo themselves we wouldn't have awesome toys like the transformer binaltechs or the masterpiece primes. For some people it's accurate sculpts, others it sturdy construction (CMS legioss), others want a fighter mode with no gaps in it, others want solid locking mechanisms and yet others still want perfect transformations (this is what caused me to get into the 1/48 over the old 1/60 for example. It's part of the appeal) etc . The ideal would be to try to satisfy all the nitpicks if possible. Anyway, if it's not too late yamato: side parts for 1D. Thanks. If it can't be helped then it can't be helped. In the end QC is the most important one to work on. These minor things can wait. I think bandai can pull off a great toy. Just that some nitpicks (if they can be solved) should be noted about in reviews. Just to maintain some sort of objectivity and hope that future toy manufacturers can use the criticism as a guide to looking for new ways to improve existing things. (for example the chunky munky is getting the better head sculpts - which is good news! hooray)
-
I'm happy with yamato actually. So long as they fix the problems in future releases for some of their more expensive toys. At the end of the day they need us to complain. It's a symbiotic relationship. When they do get it right we praise them too. The manufacturer doesn't want us to not buy their products. They want us to be happy. When we are happy they are happy too. I hope yamato are reading this: You didn't include side parts for 1/60 vf-1. Boo to you. All reviewers should mention that imo so that when they read the review, they'll be pressured to include more extras in their valks. Don't let them step all over you! Let them earn your respect.
-
what about the 1/100? You going to buy some of them?
-
What's so bad about it? Surely it's better than the original 1/60? VF-1 is yamatos cash cow since the shape is the same and there is so many variants of the same mech just with different paint schemes. Hopefully yamato can one day give me the variable glaug and vf-4. I'm getting sick of vf-1 all the time.

I like the idea of just the CF brown to be honest. It just matches the CF from SDF:M. The thing with the anti-un is they didn't give the SV-51 unique head unit for each valk they made to make the CF look more average than the two aces. Maybe if they had 1 more episode from the OVA they could have shown a bunch of low vis grey vf-0a types fighting the sv-51 brownies. Oh well. Maybe SK can make a movie edition macross zero with a scene of vf-0a and sv-51 attacking each other, destroid cheyenne fighting octos, while the big birdman concentrates on the ace pilots. All while this is happening the Monster (with claws) is getting to blow away everything in its path.
-
They will probably allow the arm to break off "VF-0 style" to mimmick Hikaru getting the arm shot off in the tv series causing minmay to fall to earth.
-
Has anyone done an english transformation guide for SV-51?

http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?show...49&hl=guide There's the older thread on this. Very handy to keep around. If you want to save to hdd, I attached it so people can watch the video offline if they need to. -
Wow I thought the 1/100 were scrapped. So those above pics are the smaller toys? These will look good near the 1/100 koenig monster. IF bandai make 1/100 koenig then yamato is doomed!

Because you would unleash the flood and xenomorphs from their home planets and bring them to earth for study meaning we would have to rely on the predators to save us and from aliens that feed on us for food, but which results in making the problem worse and allowing for pred-aliens to be made? -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
So all the japanese fans of MacF actually prefer the gundam style kits? I think the gundam fans view macross more as a robot show where robots turn into planes vs planes with a robot mode. Maybe that's who bandai want to cater to for now? Where other companies like yamato wanted to get closer to being fighters with a robot mode. I've always thought bandai likes the chunky robot approach because it kinda suggests power. Does this mean we won't see hasegawa models of vf-25 in the future or is it only for now? -
Mainly because of the price really. Why don't Toynami distribute the CMs Legioss And Tread and bring them over as mospeada toys? I'm sure people who bought the mospeada dvds would recognise this thing and want a proper toy of it. Their timing is off. By the time they get their own robotech beta fighter thing out, people will have forgotten what the mech was from. There could be new fans of the show they're missing out on, not just old fans from the 80s. Anyway it would be cool if in robotech the dark legioss was like the vf-17 and due to RDF laws they were banned from use or something because people on the good side of the invid alien race felt threatened by them. Officially they were seen as being a threat to relations between invid (who are peaceful) and humans. (possessed by the need to expand and push their powers further out into invid controlled territories which the invid use to feed on the protoculture weeds which allow them to go on magic trips to other dimensions like DMT) But secretly the invid can evolve and magically shapeshift into human form to act as spies, so the humans feel the need to spy on the invid with this technology. The thing is this: what I want the dark legioss to be is a black ops mecha that isn't used in plain sight for all to see. Only for special missions. That way they can bring back the colourful Legioss types for future shadow chronicles shows as grunts. (like the VF-11 in macross 7) The invid are obviously the good guys fighting the shadow people but the humans are like the guys caught in between, not knowing if they could properly fight against the bad guys themselves but not caring because they were raped by the invid from the third robotech war.

Congratulations. But if you do want to get an ivanov the only real issue is tiny and that is to do with the missiles I think. Plus he has been reissued with the fix now. Show us pics of it if you can. I probably would have got this if I had not worried about needing to set aside money for other things.
