  1. I'd rather have the blazer valk. Better wings, no face etc..
  2. hehe now people finally understand what we crtics of small hands were on about. Totally improves the look of the robot when the hands are larger. They still look a bit chicken-ish but better in proportion than before. Now if they can just slim down GBP when it comes out. So the valk doesn't look like it's wearing a sumo suit.
  3. For skinny robots it's hard though. I'm handling my transformers Leader Class Brawl right now and loving the ratchet joints on the hips. Click click click. And they can do the same range of motion that a balljoint on a yamato would do. ..So I do still think it is possible to have good poseability and clicky joints (well at least on fat chunky robots) but that since the robot modes of valks are generally skinny, it would spoil the look of the robot and people would complain about ugly joints appearing in robot mode. Can't have it all I guess....
  4. I'm a fan of the "peg in the gun handle and hole in the palm" system. This figure would have benefited from that. Good to see yamato used that on their sv-51 imo. Yeah my wrists are a little loose too but not loose enough that they just move about freely. I was surprised however that the actual finger joints were pretty tight but 'smooth' to move them. (as opposed to tight but so tight that it feels dangerous to move them for fear something will snap) I didn't notice huge amount of friction which is good for something that small. Too tight and the finger itself might snap since it is a skinny piece. If the hand could come off I would have used some blutack or something to tighten it. Yamato should allow that part to come off. Even the shogo figure can remove his hands and that doesn't even really need to do that. I guess this is a good buy if you're a fan of a garland and want that shogo figure but are too scared to buy a red garland to have him. If you have a choice between the red and this, then I would just get this. The metallic paint looks cool. I don't plan to apply any of the custom stickers on this as I like it plain as it is.
  5. That's good news. How are the hands? Do they feel brittle and wobbly when holding the guns?
  6. The destroid cheyenne from macross zero wouldn't be too bad.
  7. Received the factory colour garland. I love this scheme. No breaking shoulders/arms yet. Everything is tight. The figure can just squeeze into the cockpit in robot mode easily. One tricky thing is getting the gun to hold still in the hand. You've got to line up the thumb just right to it meets up with the index finger and have the gun at a angle in the palm (since the handle is at a slight angle) then squeeze all the fingers together all while having the base of the stock sit flush on the forearm area. (the base of the gun is flat and the forearm is flat so it will help keep it still once lined up) But apart from that, I am happy with this at the discount price I got it. I love the clicky joints and agree with the collection dx review. Still got to get the protogarland though.. I actually like the garland as a mech design more than I do the ride armor from mospeada. What the garland really needs in bike mode is a hardpoint for the gun like the valkyrie in macross where it stores it somewhere. (either the part that becomes the leg or the part that becomes the arm)
  8. Ok here's the thing: I like small toys. I like the VF-1 banpresto valks' sculpt. They are like my "Chunky Munky" in terms of me liking them despite them not being all that great in terms of durability. (because they are so simple yet look good if you don't touch them) If bandai can make something similar to the banpresto valks but not falling apart that would be cool. Like if it actually perfect transformed and stuff I would be interested in it. Is that what a 1/100 toy was going to be like? Because that would be really cool. Or was it just going to be stuck in 1 mode?
  9. I actually like the chubby thighs on the yf-19. Although if the yf-19 were 'real', you would imagine the legs being slim. (the banpresto type skinny not the toynami 1/100 type skinny)
  10. Sounds pretty cool.
  11. Here are the links to download the videos to hard disk: Fighter to Battroid Part 1 of 2 SV51FighterToBattroid.part1.zip Part 2 of 2 SV51FighterToBattroid.part2.zip Battroid To Fighter Part 1 of 3 SV51BattroidToFighter.part1.zip Part 2 of 3 SV51BattroidToFighter.part2.zip Part 3 of 3 SV51BattroidToFighter.part3.zip Instructions: 1. download the set of files (part 1.zip, part 2.zip, part 3...etc) before moving to the next step. 2. rename the files' ".zip" file extensions back to ".rar" file extensions. 3. Use WinRar to unrar the files into the same directory you saved the ".rar" files in, to make the .flv movie. 4. delete the .rar files and keep the .flv file. Open the flash video in a movie player with support for ".flv" files to view.
  12. Dont forget a VB-6 one too thx! Altough these videos are more convenient to a lot of people I like the HTML guides with arrows and stuff pointing directions to push stuff much more. Much easier to take transformations in steps than to watch a person transform it in front of a camera. There is also less pressure on the person transforming it to do it very quickly and accidentally push the toy out of the field of the camera's vision. For example in the yf-21 vid there was a bit where you couldn't see what was going on because your hands were in the way or the toy wasn't visible where you were transforming something. ..however it's good to have choice.
  13. Ditto. Could you do the yf-19 too?
  14. For those who want to actually download those videos, I've attached them to this thread. Might be handy for the 56k people or for those with a strict limit to their monthly DL from their ISP. Just check the update in my earlier post: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?s=&a...st&p=609267
  15. That's a nice pose. Can the legs really hold up like that? This is going to be important for when the 1/60 vf-1 wears the GBP armor on it, and you try to make it look like it is floating in space. A test to see if yamato can make stiff enough joints to allow for the extra weight to not cause floppy limbs syndrome. Hopefully the weight of the extra armor doesn't affect ability to pose like that. This is the next thing yamato should work on - better joints. Takara should do some alternator cybertronian jet vehicles that are similar to valks I reckon. The transformers have got to fight in space too!
  16. I love the meatier hands on this new 1/60. Like the clown hands except blocky and robotic looking. Mr. March is going to be pissed at those. Dont forget to include... Sideparts Sideparts Sideparts Sideparts Sideparts Sideparts ...to stay as close to the anime as possible. And yeah when 1D is made: minmay + hikaru in civilian flightsuit.
  17. Love that gerwalk mode on the cutlass.
  18. That's strange, I didn't get a confirmation code request. I'm pretty sure savefile doesn't use it.. Try clearing the browser's cache and then refreshing this page so you have the most recent version and then click on the links to go to savefile again. You can also get the attached version if it's too much trouble using the file host. ...not sure what is appearing on your screen.. You might want to take a snapshot (go to the page press PrintScrn key, then open up ms paint and press CTRL+V to paste the snapshot image into an image file. Save that file (as .jpg type will do) and then upload the image to imageshack for us to see what you see on the screen.) download from either of these two links: http://www.savefile.com/files/1598158 http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?act=...st&id=54312
  19. Lucy's tits are in the movie version though. If only they could combine the good bits of the movie with the good bits of the ova (rogue zentradi fight scene) to make an ultimate fan edition...
  20. BGC was cool. The old one had a dark tone which the new one took away by making things too bright. Old Bubblegum crisis is like terminator 1 in terms of darkness of tone. They even have a song that rips off the music in the tech noir nightclub scene. Although I agree the movement is what counts.. If a tv series can have things that move realistically, which almost looks like an OVA or movie, then that is good. Use of CG models for dogfights was good in macross zero: so please old school 2d guys, don't think ALL CG is evil. Just that the skills haven't had a time to mature as much. Some of my fave 3d animation is from the hentai I've seen of the females' breasts. That's what they need to do with the CG objects: give them breast...er no I mean, make them more jiggly or soft like the 2d art which could sometimes bend a little and flex a little that gave it a bit of character.. I know it might sound silly, (because these are robots) but there was just something cool (stylised movement vs realistic movement) in old school anime that I really miss. Robots sometimes benefit by having organic flesh/skin physics even though it might not seem natural for it to do. (like how cel-shading isn't natural to add to 3d objects in videogames because they are not even hand-drawn flat objects anymore but which is used just to make things look 'cool') Argh...nevermind..just don't pick on bubblegum crisis. It's darkness and shadowy future world is what made it cool, something japanese people are not used to having in their science fiction because they are optimistic about technology being the do-gooder/heroes' ultimate solution to save everyone, when in fact it has both a dark side and light side to it, creating a grey. It's not just about who has the best weapon. It's what you do with it. The graceful movement of the knight sabers in juxtaposition with the slow mechanical and heavy movement of the bigger robots, is sort of like the difference of the old animation (it had character/attitude) to the rigid CG objects of today. (look like toys fighting sometimes! ) I like a bit of jiggly/wiggly softness to objects like the breasts on the females in hentai animations I've seen. Just because an object IS hard in real life, doesn't mean it's cooler to have it act too realistically instead of giving it style like the 2d animators would for objects in typically hand-drawn environments where people move just a little bit more impossibly than normal to remind you that it's a fantasy fictional world and not real. (like the stylised kung fu fights in movies designed for entertainment vs real fights grounded in rules)
  21. I've subscribed so I can view it when needed. EDIT WED 11-Jun-2008: I've attached the movies to this thread for those on slow 56k connection who can't be Fq'd visiting Youtube every time they want to watch it. (yes yes I admit, I love to download my redtube porn this way and burn it to disc! ) Fighter to Battroid: Part 1 of 4 YF21FighterToBattroid.part1.zip Part 2 of 4 YF21FighterToBattroid.part2.zip Part 3 of 4 YF21FighterToBattroid.part3.zip Part 4 of 4 YF21FighterToBattroid.part4.zip Instructions: 1. Click to download ALL files first. You MUST have the whole set before the next step. It's a single file split up into pieces. (I had to do this because the forum seems to have problem with bigger sizes for some reason) 2. Rename the files' name extension from ".zip" to ".rar". You have to do this step because this forum doesn't like other file types so I had to rename the ".rar" files to ".zip" when I first uploaded them, just so that they wouldn't be rejected. Even if you don't want to watch the movie right now, just rename the ".zip" back to ".rar" as soon as they finish downloading to avoid confusion. 3. Use Winrar to unrar (uncompress) the files (part 1 to part 4) to the directory you saved these files to. (go into windows explorer and rightclick on the ".part 1.rar" file and choose the "extract here" option on the menu if you wish. This is a nice shortcut to extracting to the directory the compressed files are in) WinRar will gather all 4 parts and combine them into the single ".flv file which is the file you need to open to watch the movie. 4. delete all the ".rar" files after the movie is combined into the complete "YF21FighterToBattroid.flv" movie file. You'll need a video player that can view the flash video file format, to watch the movie. Me? I already have a codec pack installed on my media player that supports the ".flv" file format though, so I just use media player classic to view like I would with any other movie type. Battroid To Fighter: Part 1 of 3 YF21BattroidToFighter.part1.zip Part 2 of 3 YF21BattroidToFighter.part2.zip Part 3 of 3 YF21BattroidToFighter.part3.zip Instructions: Use the above instructions for the first movie as the guide for this movie. IE 1. download all files to hdd before anything 2. rename the the .zip file back to .rar which is what they originally were. 3. uncompress/extract from .rar files to create the full .flv file. 4. cleanup/delete the .rar files and keep the .flv movie file for later viewing..then view it. If you have any problems getting it to work, let me know..
  22. After reading about all the "be careful or you'll wreck it" comments in this thread, a yf-19 safe transformation guide would be cool too.
  23. Depends on the valk imo. The more complex it is, the more I want it upsized.
  24. Looking forward to it... Keep us updated.
