    Bandai DX VF-31

Here is my shipment. Maybe the order number helps figuring out in which order they ship: I'm not gonna lie. Tracking said it left Japan on the 4/12/18 but no movement detected by the package tracking. I usually don't care when an item arrive but something about the VF-31A situation makes me really antsy and nervous. *knock on wood*
  2. Uh I wish Sentinel would do a Riobot Priss with Moto-Slave. Heck, I would be in for all of the Knight Sabers.
  3. The image of the Sazabi seems to have more details in the shoulders than the MG Ver. Ka so maybe that is a hint what size it's gonna be.
  4. For me an item is overprices when I take it out of the package and feel disappointed.
  5. Probably the ones that don't have faces.
  6. I like the idea of Phasma as the hacker. In a universe with helmets and voice changers she could able to disguise herself as another species/gender/something else without Finn noticing it is her. Maybe a scene where the audience gets a hint that something is wrong with the hacker which Finn doesn't pick-up would have been great. The question remains is why Phasma would be disguising herself as a hacker to lure the Resistance in... maybe she was demoted, maybe because of her ties to Finn? @Knight26 your post made it clear to me, what is so wrong with the movie: the time line and the First Order. The movies (7 and 8 ) totally fail to make the First Order a threat. Kylo Ren, Hux, Snoke and the First Order always come across as Galactic Empire fanbois of the worst kind rather than military geniuses. To me the feel like cosplayers dressed in make-believe Empire uniforms that somehow got their hands on the best military force in the universe but without any context or framing of what to do with it or how to behave. Kylo Rens anger issues are played for laughs and Phasma doesn't behave like a high raking military when she gives away the codes for the Starkiller base without any resistance. General Hux gets distracted by Poes prank call so that they loose their dreadnought through sheer incompetency. They drew out a swift kill of the reminding Resistance into a (months/weeks) long chase. Probably because they read a comic on how a military force should behave. At the end of episode 7 the First Order looses their most powerful weapon and base of operations to a guerrilla force that is almost as inept as they are. Yet we, the audience, need to accept that this band of imbeciles managed to take over the whole galaxy between two movies (at least that is how I interpret the title scroll of The last Jedi). In a time spann that feels like it took a single day. That it is not clearly stated how long anything takes in the movie is problematic in my opinion because it stretches my suspension of disbelieve. What time has passed between the movies? How long does the pursuit take? How many days does Rey spend with Luke? How long took it to find the hacker? To me it felt like these events are happening in real time during the movie with only mere hours between between episode 7 and 8. This dissonance of how long it feels and how long it should have taken is really jaring to me. One could say that The Empire Strikes Back has some of the same issues with how much time is passing. However the rest of the movie is so compelling that it never drew any attention from me while watching the movie. In addition the Empire was the established power that ruled over the galaxy for a long time before the events of A New Hope. So while the destruction of the first Death Star was a major setback for the Empire a swift and devastating retaliation attack on Hoth was fairly believable with all the Star Destroyers they had. The whole deal with the First Order feels like a clumsy attempt to bring back the Empire because the screenwriters don't know what to do with the Star Wars universe besides Rebells vs. Empire and they where in a hurry to establish status quo. Sure you can say that there is a vast amount of additional material like books and comics that explain why the First Orders is so powerful and why they where able to take over the galaxy so quickly. However that is lazy/weak writing that I don't excuse for the Bayverse Transformers so I certainly don't give Star Wars a pass on that.
  7. Maybe they are testing what color the chest should be and what looks best. Or are these already production units? The black hands are weird but maybe they just had a second pair of Thundercracker hands lying around and used those. I hope this will change in the final version. Ugly wrist gaps are still ugly!
  8. Was there an announcement that the SHF Jedi Knight Luke was reissued? I came home from work today and everything is sold out already.
  9. I prefer the teal highlights so I would go with classic Nemesis Prime. Nice Sunstreaker review. He can do cool John Wick shooting poses. It makes me a bit sad that the MP Transformers I care about are not as nice as Sunstreaker (Star Saber, Shockwave, Tracks). Speaking of Star Saber, the Flame Toys version looks superb. The prototype alone made me buy into the line so it must be spectacular.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I watched Charles video about the VF-31A issue. I don't think that NY and other shops are selling their stock on the secondary market because there are not many listings on ebay (a quick search yielded 3 complete auctions and 1 listing at the moment). If the numbers Charles mentioned in his video was true there must be 500 units from NY alone somewhere out there. Also the fact that this seems to be really rare might indicate that there are not many units out there. Maybe NY is covering for 95% of the market and they haven't received a fraction of the units and maybe they messed up their orders with the Tamashii Web Shop resulting in a massive shortage in stock because NY messed up. The VF-31A seems to be the rarest TWE releases from Bandai to date since the DX Chogokin craze started with the Renewal VF-25F. That indicates to me that there was an issue with the production run and Bandai wasn't able to fulfill all the orders. It is weird that some shops (CDJ and AE) where able to fulfill all their orders, some could not fulfill any orders (MK) and NY is fulfilling some orders and is certain that they can fulfill the rest. The issue is such an enigma to me with as little information as we have here on MW. Since some of the MW members are actually in Japan I would assume that they would let us know what the situation in over there is. It is a mind-boggling situation.

I was thinking that there is no indication that NY has the same stock issues that other retailers like MK have they could very well have all their stock secured but have another issue with shipping them out. We just have no other information besides speculation. NY is clearly to blame for not providing us with the information what is up with the delay in shipments for the VF-31A. Since they are based in Japan I assume that they can speak Japanese and are able to contact Bandai to get some information what is up with the stock. So they should be able to tell us what the actual situation is. If their claim is valid that they will ship out all orders than clearly communicate that you have the units and why you can't send them out. If it is an issue with the availability of the product you need to communicate that as well.Of course it could also be the case that Bandai is not stating clearly what the issue with the units is. From the reports here on the board there seems to be something not right with the production of the toy and we don't know what exactly. Since NY shipped my unit earlier this week they seem to get units in. From that situation I think two scenarios would be possible: Something went wrong with the production of the VF-31A. Maybe Bandai found an issue late in production which caused a higher rate of rejected product from the factory. Which means Bandai is not able to fulfill all the orders. Maybe they communicated this with the buyers of the VF-31A that there was an issue and will be produce more units but that will take time. Thus NY is sure that they will be able to fulfill all their orders but it will take time. NY messed up their orders of the VF-31A and they will try to acquire additional stock through other means like buying up local stock from other retailers like they did with the Renewal Valkyries. That orders are being send out at random times seems to be an indicator for that. Either way that NY doesn't communicate the current situation properly is leading to speculation and a loss in trust in NY as a reliable retailer so I'm not sure why we don't get a clear statement from them. I really hope for all of you that are still waiting for their orders to be fulfilled that NY can deliver as they claim in their responses from customer support. If not hopefully you will get your money back and maybe Bandai will release Arads VF-31A down the line with less hiccups.
  12. I just watched your video review of the Generation Toys Gorilla and I must say he is pretty spectacular. When I saw an image of the gorilla mode I was thinking that this is probably just a re-shell of the MP Optimus Primal. It is really impressive with what Generation Toys came up compared to MP Primal. Primal seems like a refinement of his old toy from the 90s while Generation Toys came up with something different which I like about transforming toys. Something can have similar modes but the way to get their might be totally different which intrigues me (this is also the reason why I have a collection of black Prime repaints). I just like to see what a designer can come up with. Thank you for all the entertaining videos Kuma.

NY shipped my VF-31A today. I ordered on the 10/7/2017.
  15. I ordered him but haven't received the package yet. I will try to write down my thoughts down here. Kuma, if you know someone at Flame Toys let them know that I want a Nemesis Prime from that Kuro Kara Kuri Optimus and they should hurry up with the announcement.
  16. Well since it is advice time here we go: To me it was important to figure out what a collector I want to be. There is so much awesome stuff out there that no sane person has enough money and more importantly space to own and display everything. When I started toy collecting as an adult I saw so much new items I had no idea existed that I just bought everything I could afford. Now a decade later I pinned down what I want to collect and it helps me to keep myself restrained most of the time. While I am not a fan of rules that are a) set in stone and b) arbitrary they helped me to keep my collection focused. For example: while the Hi Metal R line is cool (love the enemy mecha stuff) I knew the size is not for me so I said no Macross stuff that isn't in the 1/60 scale and not a transforming piece. As others said it also helps to have a set budget for each month as a guideline on how much you can spend. I have a handy Excel sheet that helps me with planning and also to keep track of my collection (and as paperwork for my insurance). Sometimes I like to test out other toy lines so I make up more arbitrary rules on the way. I want to check out the Super Robot Chogokin line: only (Great) Mazinger/Mazinkaiser toys in the Kurogane line (which there are two items). See what the Soul of Chogokin line has to offer: only mecha from Gunbuster, which is only the Gunbuster. Want to test Gunpla, only the MG Ver. Ka kits. Of course it is hard seeing reviews (reviewers are the devil!) of the SoC GaoGaiGar or the Seninel Ironman line and not buy it immediately but after my rules helped me to withstand the initial buying impulse the desire to own it slowly wanes and mostly goes away. At the moment I'm super tempted by the Transformers MP Beast Wars line but I have to say no! If you really really really want the item after that initial impulse is gone you usually can buy it on the secondary market if the desire is still there. Sure the item price is usually higher but I made the experience you save money on the long run if you're not buying everything you fancy. As a bonus that means the purchase will satisfy you on a deeper level. Once I was a more disciplined collector I could soften the rules a bit. The transforming Koenig Monster from Bandai does not really fit with my 1/60 collection since it is roughly 1/100 scale but it completes my Frontier collection very well. Same thing with the SDF-1 but it is only one ship and acts as the center piece of my collection. My rules also help me to get back once I notice I went overboard with purchases and I feel I need to cut back on it. I'm not suggesting that a system like that is for everyone (maybe it is just for me) but I had to learn that the hard way what works for me. I have many items from when I was beginning to collect toys that now have no place in my refined collection that clutter my storage space and I wished I hadn't bought on a whim. Maybe this will help a new collector making toy collecting a more fulfilling hobby where you don't have to worry about the food budget next month or paying back your student loans.
  17. They also announced a Optimus Prime in their Kuro Kara Kuri line. http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/04/06/flame-toys-kuro-kara-kuri-optimus-prime-prototype-361969 It looks good but since I'm a Nemesis Prime collector I wonder if someone can ask Flame Toys if they do a black repaint. I'm interested in that Prime but I would rather have a black and teal one instead of spending $300+ on a blue and read one just to find out I need to spend the same amount again for the version I really want.
  18. Gale Igniter. Saw the movie had a blast. I can recommend watching it on the big screen. To me the CG looked excellent compared to Black Panther which was the movie I watched previously in the theater. There is no complex character development in it and some characters behave weirdly but not off-putting to me. One criticism I have is that the movie has too much going on. Especially the last action scene was really convoluted. I don't understand the issues about the movie catering too much to Chinese people. For me it felt more like people from all over the world working together for saving their planet which I like. The main Chinese actress had a big part in the movie but that is fine. I really hope they do a third one.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Well they have my money since the 7th of October so they can keep it a bit longer.
  20. Flame Toys released new pictures of their Tarn and he has all the beef: http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/04/04/flame-toys-kuro-kara-kuri-tarn-official-images-361838 That and Kumas review convinced me that I need to get into this line so I went ahead and ordered their Drift (even if I would have preferred Deadlock)
  21. Man I really wished Arcadia would release a VF-1J from M7. The added black highlights look really slick.

According to their website NY is based in Matsuyama which is a good bit away from Akihabara where this item is placed according to ebay. So if this is true it seems unlikely to me.
  23. Seems like the X-Men wave has been spotted in retail: http://news.toyark.com/2018/04/05/x-men-marvel-legends-build-figure-apocalypse-assortment-found-295136

As @jenius said it could be an issue of NY employee Bob handles TWE orders and he is sick/on vacation. So you get a generic waiting for stock reply from customer service until Bob returns to collect all the items and bring them to the warehouse. Were other TWE items released at the same time and did NY ship those alteady?

It might be a left hand right hans issue. The customer service staff probably don‘t know what a TWE item is. They can just see that the stock is not in their system thus a generic reply. It is a bad customer service for sure but you can find the same issue all over the place when dealing with help desks. NY is to blame here though.
