  1. That will give me nightmares? Thanks for the pictures.
  2. What's the issue? I usually don't click on facebook links but I really don't want to break my Quan[t]. Has it something to do with the outer armor bits that can be removed?
  3. So Flame Toys showed off some new prototypes for their Tarn and Star Saber (IDW). And I need those: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/flame-toys-idw-tarn.1110765/page-6 http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/12/14/flame-toys-03-star-saber-prototype-355371 I think I'm gonna buy Drift too. I just need to find a shop in Europe that sells these. Otherwise I'm stuck with BBTS. Maybe I can just buy Star Saber and but him next to my Reformatted bots but he would probably look out of place.

    Hi-Metal R

Nice work! It is a shame that it doesn't look that good straight out of the box.
  5. I second that. Also I would like to see a DX Elysion from Delta made by Bandai.
  6. You mean with Koots transformation? For me the Fans Hobby bots do nothing for me. I'm the complete opposite of Kuma because to me the Power Baser look unappealing from every angle. Every release of Fans Hobby invokes the same reaction from me: resentment. I wonder why this is. At least we should be able to agree on if it is a quality toy or not. This is probably a hard thing to do when discussing about pictures and not having it in hand. Which means at some point I need to buy Fans Hobbys Archenemy maybe this will change my opinion on their releases. For me I need to have a toy in hand to evaluate it completely. Something that looks good in images might be a complete turn-off when it feels flimsy in hand. Maybe the other way around is also true.
  7. After watching the trailer I would say the movie is roughly based around the Hugo/Makaku ark so the Berserker body should show up at one point I'd assume. Ho man I really need to dig the manga out during the Christmas holiday. I have a strong urge to read it right now.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I'm really grateful that I was a kid of the 80s growing up with all those awesome fighter-jets. Even if most of them where introduced in the 60s and 70s. I know that the Delta move is a compilation movie but due to the reduced runtime Hayate is probably already an Delta Squadron ace to begin with. It would be possible that he starts out with the Kai. I don't think it would be much work to replace the textures of the animation model since it is a 3D model. You need to re-render the scenes of course. It seems like the VF-31 Armor Parts will take the role of the VF-25 Tornado Parts in the first Frontier movie. So they will have to render a bunch of Valkyrie action scenes that weren't in the TV show. Speaking about fighter jets and the Tornado parts. I wonder if Kawamori got the inspiration and design for the rotating engine nacelles from the VJ-101: That might also explain the name of the Tornado Parts because the company (Messerschmitt-Boelkow-Blohm) who was involved with the development of the VJ-101 was also responsible for developing the Panavia Tornado... ...ok that might derail the thread too much.
  9. I'm not really interested in the new smaller VF-1 from Bandai. It would have to perform some stunning engineering magic to make me buy it (like an source material accurate leg transformation). I have too much Arcaida VF-1 toys to switch them for Bandai releases. The "Soul of Chogokin" 1/35 VF-1 was much more tempting because I could justify having just one as a centerpiece for my collection. I guess it will save me a lot of money that way. Money I could invest in a VF-31J Kai or the YF-25 that is the glaring hole in my Frontier collection (I shouldn't have bought the VF-25A to begin with :P).
  10. No, I wasn't aware of that but I see how it could work. On other news transformed FTs Apache today. I have no idea what people mean when they say he is easier to transform than Koot. To me Koot was a breeze to get through compared to Apache. It is definitely doable but its almost a full workout for the hands. I think I will have sore hands tomorrow. The good thing is he has lots of tabs to keep everything together. There are a few important things I noticed during transformation From bot to car mode make sure that the torso is collapsed all the way. Otherwise you won't be able to peg the butt flap into the back of the thighs which leaves a bigger gab where you can see most of the thighs in car mode. You can transform him without that and I was puzzled on how to get the taps into the thighs. Again for car mode the foot assembly actually pegs into the inside of the back fenders. To secure it even further you can peg the spoiler fins into wing pylon bits. This only works correctly when you have the hinge assembly in the foot lined correctly. This makes the transformation in car mode much less of a hassle. Took me still some time to line everything up. For helicopter mode it is important to slide the the thighs inward completely otherwise you get too much pressure in the leg assembly in the forward fuselage of the helicopter which makes it hard to peg everything together. Sans the transformation I dig him. That is not a fair assessment though. FansToys does some neat tricks compared to other Springer lookalikes. The way the legs swivel around making the underside much cleaner and bring the wing pylons that fill out the legs and car from the back to the front. Helicopter mode is clearly the superior alt-mode but even the care looks enough like Springer even if it is elongated. You can only do so much without magic. The way FansToys solved the mass-shifting of yellow shoulder armor between modes is a clever trick. I like Apache quite a bit. The green paint they used to paint the hood intake is visually stunning even if it is not a vibrant color. I wished they used it on other parts like the thigh area. The paint is not as much of an issue with Apache than it is with their Spindrift (Seaspray) but the yellow plastic just looks bad without paint. I would love to have more paint all around. To me he is clearly the best MP Springer homage that is out there. I was thinking about waiting for MMCs Saluts but lately the Masterpice lookalikes from them weren't up to the task with questionable decisions for engineering, fit and finish and quality control. From the TFW boards their Omne (Cosmos) seems to have a high breakage rate and I wasn't satisfied with their Terraegis (Trailbreaker) and the buzzard cassette bots. Even if a better Springer comes out (there are like two or three others planned for release) I can't see me replace Apache. He is also a good triple changer so I'm looking forward to their Berserker (Blitzwing) and Hydra (Sixshot). [edit:] Forgot to mention that I got a broken part on my Apache straight out of the box. Nothing major; a screw head broke off in one of the shoulder blocks. The shoulder seems to be holding together just fine but I might need to replace it in the future.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I wonder if the Kai will be Hayates main Valkyrie in the Delta movie. If so I could imagine that Bandai will sell a bundle with the Kai and the Armor Parts. I looked at the key visual for the movie and couldn’t determine what kind of Valkyrie Hayate is flying. Looks like the regular Super VF-31J to me. Maybe he gets an upgrade for the final battle (if the Valkyries play any role at all that is :p)
  12. I've got a few FansToys bots in last week: Apache (Springer), Spindrift (Seaspray) and Koot (Kup). I haven't had much time with Apache but he seems nifty so far. Only real issues I could see is the non existing outward shoulder movement when having the arm forward. Haven't transformed him yet. Sprindrift is pretty cool. I hadn't planned on buying him but I tossed him into the order on a whim. I have two issues with him. The first is paint: he needs more if it. In my opinion yellow and red plastic looks often terrible without some sort of finish to it. I really wished they would put some yellow paint on the yellow plastic. I can understand if you don't want to paint parts that rub against each other so I would loved if they picked up some highlights with a red paint. My idea would be to paint the details on the legs and knees, the nacelles for the propellers or the head with a yellow color to give him some extra premium touch. His feet are painted but the rest of the hovercraft pontoons are not wich is a missed opportunity and none of his weapons have any painted details. On the other hand I'm not sure if this would bode well with most of the Masterpiece crowd since they seem to want the flat look of the animation. Otherwise I like him much more than I thought I would. The transformation is actually pretty cool if you are familiar with it. Out of the box it seems a bit problematic to peg some of the panels in but after a few rounds of play I got a feeling for it. Now to Koot. Koot is an almost perfect toy. There are some nitpicks like not enough painted details (see above). He has a bit of a backpack with flaps on the side that pronounces the issue even more. The transformation is actually pretty good (with the exception of the thing I talk in the next section) the only issue is a sliding rail that is too tight. I've heard it will get less of an issue if you work the sliding rail in. Now onward to the big issue of the toy that might make or break it for you if you are interested in it. The front wheels have a part of the fender attached to them. The pieces can rotate a bit around the wheels but not enough which breaks the transformation completely. You need to force the flanks of the abdomen around the fender pieces which doesn't feel good. This would be a none issue if the fender pieces would rotate around the wheels some more. It really baffles me why this is an issue at all. I'm pretty happy about Koot and I hope the they to a Blur so I can complete the 86 movie bots. FansToys Rogue (Arcee) and Hoodlum (Hot Rod) are a must buy for me now.
  13. Maybe this will force Arcadia to reissue their SSP? I have two Arcadia Valkyries that need theirs. On the other hand no other VF-1 from Arcadia is missing their Super Parts with the exceptions of the first two releases. So maybe there is no incentive releasing them again. If this is the case and the KOs are comparable in quality I might have to get those.
  14. Man I hate LEDs features in the toys I own. At least on the Quan[t] it doesn't look bad when the LED is not switched on. Does the review mentions if the toy is solid with al the armor parts being able to swing out and be removed?
  15. Wotafa reviewed the toy as well a fed days ago: That looks like some crazy engineering to me.
  16. My todays choice goes to: Fighter: VF-2SS GERWALK: VF-31F Battroid: VF-25S with Armor Parts
  17. I'm intrigued since the Manga is one of my all time favorites (reading the Mars Chronicles at the moment) but GitS left a stale taste in my mouth.
  18. The Metal Build Quan[t] was dropped in my PW. Yay. Sadly I will have to wait a while for the next PW shipment. I wonder what Bandai has planned after the Strike in the 1/100 scale Gundams. It seems to be that they are trying to diversify the line even more. I'm not into the FMP and Mazinger releases but I will buy the MB Eva units if they are good.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I‘d say that the Kai is the one on the left.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Are those missile packs on the booster units the ones from the VF-171 Armor Pack? I hope they open this time!
  21. Maybe the proportions are designed with the Strike Packs in mind and the Strike Gundam will look better with the add-ons equipped. Nevertheless I‘m glad that Bandai decided to do more Seed Metal Build releases so I can keep my hope alive for an MB Justice Gundam.

    Bandai DX VF-31

It is a color variant of Hayates regular VF-31J that he used in the final version of Macross Delta. The difference are a unicorn knight logo on the back and added black highlights which were blue on the regular VF-31J. It also comes with two pair of reaction missiles for the forearm shields he also used in the final episode. They seem to be exclusive for this set. There probably won't be other Siegfrieds who get the same treatment since this is the only Kai variant shown on screen (or that I know of).

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

If this is the same mold as the VF-19Advance I’ve no interest in it. Maybe if they release it in light blue as VF-19A.
  24. With those terrible Fin Funnels? Those are the bane of my existence!
