Yeah I know. My favorite Lego set, the 8880 Super Sport Car, has printed side mirrors and head lights. I bet they would be stickers if the release the kit today. In fact I got also his successor the 8070 last year and it has stickers all over the place.

I have a Nu Gundam Ver. Ka in my warehouse. I haven't decided what to do with the stickers. A part of me wants to paint it but this will lead to a couple of other problems like finding a matching paint already mixed up in a spray can since I don't want to invest in an airbrush station. The Nu Gundam was planned as a kit that gets me into model building again so I probably will stick to the decals. A question. Does Bandai has some kind of patent on the multi colored runner molding process. I watched a Transformers review yesterday and the reviewer was complaining why some part of the robot is painted and not molded in the right color. For me the answer was simple. The parts in question where the only ones in that color on the whole toy so Hasbro didn't bother to create a new runner just for that color. That got me thinking. If Bandai can mold a runner in different colors why are other companies not able to do it. To expensive for a $10 kids toy? Keep in mind that I'm no expert for injection molding but I would be grateful for some insight.

So I got the Jedi Defender Class Cruiser from The old Republic line as a present. It is a cool piece but I wonder what is going on with the stickers. Most of my childhood sets have the details tampo printed on. I assume it is a cost saving measure by Lego but it just looks cheap. Now I would love to see a Lego Ebon Hawk next year. With Darth Revan, his cool mask and the rest of the party from the RPG. Merry Christmas

The Nu Gundam has also stickers to color a piece of plastic differently. I think one are in a light gray and the other in a powder blue. I think the reason for that is that it would be to expensive for the powder blue parts because the color never appears on the Gundam ever again (then again I have seen runners with 4 different colors cast in translucent and opaque). The gray parts might be not feasible since they are so small. I don't think Bandai is half-assing their most valuable line.

Did you order them individually? If so they will send you two packages because they never combine orders until you ask them. I asked them once to combine orders and their answer was that shipping will be more expensive when I combine the orders. Go figure.

I think he means rotating like the shoulder gun on Warmachine in the second Ironman movie.

Was there an Gerwalk-Mode designed for the VF-14? wasn't the VF-14 Vampire was shown in the background of Yang Neumann? This would be a great addendum of the current Macross Plus release of the YF-19.

I would say relax. I had this "issue" several times where it took a while until it moved anywhere. Here is a scenario that might explain it: It could be that on Friday they packaged your toy and placed it on the "to ship" pile and it was too late to be piked up by the mailman. NY updated the status to shipped anyway because their part is done. So on Monday the package got picked up at NYs facility by the Japanese post. Then keep in mind that even if Christmas is not that big of a holiday in Japan there might be extra mail around to be processed. That might slow down things additionally. As far as I know NY are a few guys in a basement so they do not operate as professional as say hlj or amiami. Here is what I think the tracking messages mean: Arrival at outward office of exchange means that it arrived at the airport and is scheduled for transit. Dispatch from outward office of exchange means that it is on the way to your country Arrival at inward office of exchange means it arrived at the airport in your country In Customs means that it is processed by customs Final delivery means it is delivered by a local carrier to your home and you should get it in the next few days I don't know where your at but if Christmas is a big deal in your area then it might slow down the process on your side of the ocean as well. I'm waiting for a fairly big package from hlj but only if I'm super lucky I will have it in hand before New Years Eve. This package left hlj on the 20th of December and will be sitting in customs for at least two more days and I also had chosen the 3-4 days delivery. I don't know if you have experience with importing stuff from other countries or how customs are in your country but expect to wait a bit for your package. There are things that NY has no influence in. That a package is lost in transit happens not very often. If you choose the express delivery than your package will be insured so even if something happens you should be on the safe side. If you don't receive any update after the Christmas holidays you should contact NY. The fastest and most responsive way is by phone (don't worry they speak English) or via their facebook page. Email is another way to get in contact but that is usually slow and not very responsive. If something is wrong NY is the best place to get help since they can ask the Japanese postal service. End of the wall of text. Merry Christmas!

I don't know if it's just me but the plastic does look a little bit translucent. So it look more like a toy compared to any my Renewal Valkyries. Something about that shade of beige is not good looking to me. Perhaps it looks better in hand. So it comes with a printed SMS logo on the stand? Why didn't the YF-29 30th Anniversary came with one?

It is a clean lining job. To me the lines look a bit too dark so if I would've done it to my own drones I would've used a gray/dark gray color. If you like it that great.

Thanks for the info I will try it when I have the time to fiddle with it.

Yes this bad mother-Focker (too harsh?) has already landed in my country so I might be able to have him in hand after the holidays. Cant wait to swoosh around with him. This will be my first VF-1 from Yamcadia so I'm not gonna look at the tail fins so it won't spoil my experience with it. The Arcadia white of the toys might be an indication that we might get a Max VF-1 or even a Kakizaki in the future because you cannot create a Skull Squadron with the off-white the Yamato VF-1 had mixed in.

I opened my RVF-25 Super Parts (the one from the VF-25G as well; sorry no additional small thruster nozzles) and I must say the Ghost drones are looking great when you have them in hand. Of course the ball joints on the stands are terrible loose as well as one of the tiny thruster nozzles on the engine pods. Bandai seems to have a problem with ball joints in general. [edit: ] after inspecting the Ghosts a bit more I found out that one of them has a paint splotch behind the camera eye on the top where they tried to fix a mistake. It is visible when you take a close look but since they come in threes I guess I can put that one in the background.

Has anyone tried to remove the outer fin of the Super Parts? This is the upwards angled fin with the SMS030 marking and the position light. I'm trying to fit this trident into my display cabinet but cant attach the wing boosters because that would make the Valkyrie to wide. So the idea is to remove the wing that is facing away from the viewer (you wouldn't see it anyway) and get it to fit that way. The fin seems loose and can be moved up a little bit so it seems it is only pegged in. I don't want to force anything so I'm asking is someone has experience with this part. I know some of you customized the set so I would be grateful for any information you have to offer.

The fold crystals are normally purple (blue on the Isamu Custom). They clear parts where less busy on the previous iterations of the Durandal. Mostly purple with a green visor (and green sensor array in the nose of the Alto Custom). On this one it looks really busy and distracting.

From a man greater than me : "The geek is someone who paradoxically drives fun from taking an activity that is already designed to be fun, like a hobby, and turning it into an activity that is not fun, like a job or a religion. For example everyone likes to get stuff that they like. The geek collects stuff that he likes and stuff that he doesn't like or only kinda likes because is all connected somehow." (Full quote after the spoiler tag) I definitely feel the urge to collect everything. Like every model with every add on set and every tiny bit of exclusive stuff I can get. I can see me definitely buying a toy I don't like just to get an exclusive effect part. As an example for the VF-25F I would buy 12 pieces. 3 Super Messiahs, 3 Armored Messiahs, 3 Tornado Messiahs and 3 plane ones plus one Valkyrie and one of each add-on set for storage in case something breaks. And I would display them all in a giant room dedicated to them. And I'm not even liking the Tornado variant of the VF-25F. And while this sounds really awesome to me it is just not viable for me because of funds and the room to display them all. So I enjoy pictures of Kickers and MasterofMarcoss' collection and also enjoy my small collection of Valkyries that I like. On the other hand having five VF-25s is already kinda obsessive. But I need them to display all the variants of the Messiah and Bandai forced my hand to not only buy the VF-25A but also Lucas and Michaels Super Packs because they decided not to release the Ghost drones separately and no word for Michales Tornado Parts..... *shakes fist in anger*

Speaking of Yamatos VF-19 I guess the center of mass is around the egress hatch in Fighter-Mode there the gun pod is touching the fuselage so I assume there is only room for a stand adapter that looks like a fork similar to the Gerwalk support piece of the Bandai Renewal Stand and not a piece that wraps around the gunpod. I'm not sure it can be a save connection because it looks like a fork but if it is combined with the adapter that comes with the toy and both connected with a support strut then it might work. It will be a ugly stand similar (again) to the Bandai Renewal stands.

To come full circle Basara should wear one of Sheryls outfits.

I have to agree with you that the Gerwalk-Mode of the YF-19 destroys the look of a plane with feet. All you could do there is to not transforms the arms at all. Do you feel the same way about the VF-11. Because the Thunderbolt has the same fuselage design in the rear where the arms, legs and shield make almost the entire back of the plane. I think it is not that pronounced due to the thrusters on the back. The reasons why the design looks unbalanced in my opinion are the legs. The toys illustrate that pretty well. If Yamato included another click on the Gerwalk-joint and designed ankles that can be tilted a hole lot more backwards than you could bring the legs way more forward. I think that is what people describe as 'aggressive' a-stance. I think that legs with the range of motion of the Renewal Frontier Valkyries gave the VF-19 toys a much better looking Gerwalk-Mode. The YF-19 seems to be able to achieve this kind of pose. I saw once an image of that in the VF-19 thread I guess. Thanks for giving a reason for your opinion I much appreciate it. Much better then just listing three Valkyries.
-
I agree. I mean I would rather now why jenius doesn't like the YF-19 Gerwalk-Mode then flying over another list of three VF-1 Valkyries.

That is a very ungeeky way to collect stuff. Bad approach!

Probably yes.... I think the Sazabi looks great but I don't like the use of polycaps. From what I heard the MG Sinanju has no polycaps whatsoever and I would favor this design for any MG kit. I think I will decide if I build the Sazabi after I put together the MG Nu Gundam.

Sorry for reviving an old topic but I have a short question that goes in the same direction (storing toys) but doesn't has enough meat for its own thread. So I have a few Robot Damashii and S.H.Figuarts toys. Depending on the toy they come with lots of accessories that are stored in clamp shells who are a pain to open. Since those toys are my desk play figures I decided to free all the parts from their prison and store them in a box under my desk in small zip lock bags. As I said I play a lot with these toys so I'm not to worried about paint scratches, scuff marks or wear (nevertheless I'm sad when stuff like this happens) because sooner or later this will happen anyway. Now to my question. I was thinking if I could store the extra parts of my Yamato/Arcadia/Bandai collector toys the same way. Now they are stored in their slots or bags they come with put away in their boxes and put away in the storage room. So every time I have the urge to transform the armored VF-25S I need to get into the storage compartment find the box, open the box and fetch the small bar the keeps the legs together. Because they are collector toys I fear any kind of damage to the parts. An example: I think problematic are the small bits you replace for the shoulder missile pods on the Renewal VF-25s. They have tampon printed detail that might be scratched when stored together with the big stand pieces or are stored together with other bags in a box. I also think white parts might yellow when they stored in a sealed bag. So I want to ask if you have any experience with storing that parts or have an opinion on the solution with the zip lock bags. Thanks in advance.

I don't get that extra piece to attach the Gunpod. On my YF-29 it looks like there should be more then enough room to accommodate the bayonet. I never understand the need for the attachment piece on the RVF-25 either. Why not design an arm like the VF-25G has? The base model/deisgn of the VF-25 Renewals is nearly flawless (minus the floppiness of the joints). In that regard I think you can include the YF-29 because I think that's where Bandai tested the ideas the had for them. However the unnecessary stuff Bandai insists to include are infuriating. Does anyone know that they say when the shoulder pauldron popped off in that video? To see how they are handling the toy in that video sends shivers down my spine. So painful!
