  1. I don't care about the paint scheme. Just give it a different head turret and I'm fine.
  2. I think it cannot beat the VE-1 because the Elintseeker hat more stuff going on. Custom Fast Packs, Wings, it is a two seater and has more antennas then the RVF-25. The RVF-25 just looks like a normal Messiah, the VE-1 is more unique looking. The RVF-25 has drones though. And I hate the head of the VE-1! It is just terrible. The RVF-25 looks like Gogo Dodo and that is awesome.
  3. Brace yourself Winter is coming! So now that the dim and dark season is right around the corner I though I should stash up some supplies before I can't leave the house because of all the snow. So instead of spending countless hours of surfing the interwebs I decided to do something different. You guessed it. Build some Gunpla. So, I'm planning to build the MG 00 Raiser. And I need some advice abound the finish. Now I did some plamo as a teenager and spend years of building and painting miniatures for miniwargaming. I even did one Gunpla kit before but then I get into a hiatus for several years. I don't want to paint the kit completely just want to do some detail work with the Gundam Markers (shadows and panel lines). I want to clean the stress marks where the gates meet the parts and do panel lining on the frame and the armor plating (all of them). After that maybe finish it with a coat. Now what markers do I need for that. Does the standard set with six markers match the white, blue, red. gray and yellow on the kit or do I need different colors. Also what kind of pens for panel lining should I use? And finally what kind of coat can you recommend? Thanks in advance.

    Display Case

Meh, I do like pretty display cases. It gives my toy collection a degree of legitimacy that puts them on the same level as china, teddy bears or collector plates.
  5. I think both gun-pods from the VF-25 and YF-29 have the same handle but I'm nor sure. Now I'm seeing the hard points too.
  6. *sigh* It definitively is good looking with the Super Parts on.... but I'm not sure I like the color of the CF. May change when I have them in hand so maybe I'm in but I think 3 Super Messiah are enough. Well I have to pay the sales tax in my home country when I import stuff from Japan which is way higher then 5 or even 8%. Oh and custom fees. Why am I laughing?

    Display Case

I snatched mine from a shop that redecorated his display cases. They where free and custom made for the shop so I was lucky. On the other hand they are pretty small and only hold 3-4 Valkyries (and no YF-29 with Super Parts). I think IKEA is the place to go. I made the experience that display cabinets can be way expensive especially when you buy from shops that are specialized for serving business customers (and/or are pleasing for the eye). There is a reason why almost every collector had one or more IKEA Detolfs at some point.
  8. It is very cool looking just not from the side or the back..... I can deal with that. Hope that the missile pod opens to reveal the missiles inside but after the disappointment that where the VF-171 Armor Parts if thin that this is a pipe dream as well as switchable modules for the missile pod. The pod itself looks small so it might not droop backwards but I fear that the hinges for the connection strut might be two week (i.e. wear down) to hold it in that position. Hopefully there will be some support piece that locks it into the upward position. If the missile pod itself doesn't have any gimmicks then it might be light enough to hold its position. I don't like that you can see the cockpit from the side but maybe the add some a canopy cover like they did on the Renewal VF-25s. I assume that the gun-pod can slide into a slot in the missile pod. I think you can see two indents in the shot from below.
  9. I think some of this design choices come from the CAD design process for new Valkyries. So no mass shifting like the wings of the VF-17. To be honest the side skirts on the YF-19/YF-21 look fragile as hell. The tail-fins on the VF-17/171 and YF-21/VF-22 where even used as shields against incoming enemy attacks. On the other hand it would be an easy fix if the tail fins attach to the forearms (like the SV-51) or the legs or slide them into the backpack. On the VF-25 the weren't nearly as awkward looking because the fold flat to the rest of the wing assembly. This and the YF-29 just look messed up regarding the tail fins. Overall the VF-1 did the best job of hiding the wing section with the tail-fins folded up against the inside (!!!) of the backpack and the wings somewhat slit up into the rear fuselage (again some anime magic involved) so that the back of Battroid-Mode resembles the shape of the front. Then again a fighter jet very fragile not sure this will change just because it can transform into a mech.
  10. Or if it will be a Tamashii Web exclusive or a regular release. I tend towards a regular release but we will see. Or does it state Tamashii Web Exclusive somewhere and I overlooked valuable information AGAIN!
  11. I think the Tamashii Nations event starts on November the first not the preorders. I assume the will show a prototype there (hopefully) as well as an announcement for the VF-25 Tornado Packs and the S-H-Monsterarts Vajra.
  12. I think that is due to the YF-30 still being in the development state. I'm sure they will add the missing marks because the YF-30 looks really bland without them. Don't let me down on this Bandai! Honestly I can't imagine Bandai releasing anything that differs from the in-game appearance. For this they need all the recognition from fans that they can get because:
  13. From the side view the backpack looks really odd. I assume it will look better in person when you don't have to look at the straight from the side angle. The tail fins are similar in design to the ones from the YF-29. I don't understand why Kawamori didn't engineered a mechanism that enables the fins to slide into the backpack and thus allowing for a sleeker look. Is it possible that Bandai will offer more modules for the giant weapon rack on the back? I've never played Macross 30 so does the YF-30 has other accessory than the micro missile launcher in the game? If I get one the beam gun-pod will be closed all the time. It just looks more wicked closed in the black color scheme then the one from the YF-29. It also helps to differentiate it form the Durandal.
  14. Ha, I overlooked the DX in the text. I was probably distracted by the images. You can't blame me for that! Cannot wait to preorder it since I already have a place for the Valk in my display cabinets (the VF-27 Super Parts have to move!). I'd love to see more images from the back and the side. The renders look a bit funky. I'm getting a SV-51 vibe from it. Need a better picture from the head. Hopefully the final product will look like the model from the game. There are a few markings missing in the render but I'm not worried. I wonder if the preorder madness will continue. I hoped for a VF-25S reissue before that to test the water a bit.
  15. Well, mine was a VF-25F Renewal.
  16. Don't let it be a model kit, don't let it be a model kit...
  17. Canceling my Arcadia VF-1 preorders in 3, 2, 1...... Honestly a glossy VF-11 MAXL with sound booster would be nice in addition to the VF-19K but only if they make the green VF-17T also and glossy to go well with the Fire Valkyrie and the J-Rock attitude. I'd have to buy a Karaoke-Ninja Valk though....
  18. I assume if Macross was a Saturday morning television show phenomenon then Arcadia would never be able to produce any toys at all because Bandai would grab the license and never let it go (or, god beware, HG and Toynami would produce merchandise that is worse then retail TFs). It is a walk on the razor's edge basically. Now the older Macross shows are not very recognized which allows small companies to make excellent but pricey collectibles for the few fans that value the quality of the pieces over the price. The alternative would be a lot of o.k. toys for kids and a collector line (dare I say Toynami Masterpiece?) that brings once in a while some old beloved character back. I'm not even sure that it would work that way for Macross because in the TF universe the cast will mostly stay the same. *hugs Rodimus Convoy* So I prefer the small collector fan base and I love the quality of the toys but it is dangerous when the products are as expensive as the new YF-19 because then the market might be too small to make a profit out of it. I don't know how merchandise would look like if Macross where like Transformers but I have to say when I held my first TF Masterpiece in hands I was a little shocked and disappointed about the quality of the toy. My first high end Macross toy was (and is) pure joy having it in my collection.
  19. Cool I've never seen this before. Is this preproduction stuff from SDF-Macross? I'm sure this was mentioned before but it really looks like a Gundam in Waverider-Mode.
  20. I prefer the current color of the canopy and I would prefer any degree of tinted blue canopy over a completely clear one (even if you cannot see the pilot) but that is just me. I assume that the canopy of a space fighter would always look somewhat like the visor current of space suits. [edit: ] Also Gundam toys are clearly superior to any other form of plastic toy collectibles that are made for grown-up man-childs. *takes his hat and runs away*
  21. From my knowledge all the Valkyries of Soundforce (VF-11, VF-17 and VF-19) have the Kai suffix. According to Wikipedia Kai in Japanese can mean recovery/restoration. Since the sound energy is capable of restoring who suffered from the Spirita-drain of the Protodevilin I assume that is where the Kai came from. Maybe someone who has some deeper knowledge in the mystery that is M7 can shed some light onthis topic.
  22. I think he didn't took apart the LERX. The way I understand it he rotated the forward fuselage perpendicular to the LERX. That way it is possible to get access to most of the LERX but not the area around the rotational joint. That's why he said he didn't shaved down the area near the joint. Maybe I' getting all this wrong but that's how I understood it.
  23. At first I was intending to write that you have to judge the design on it's own merits. That people are biased because the VF-4 has now an official Kawamori-approved Gerwalk- and Battroid-Mode. That the YF-4 Veritech follows a different design that branched off from Macross after SDF-1. Then I looked some more at the pictures and realized that it was really derpy looking.
