    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

So if this should be the best VF-1 toy ever why are the landing lights in the wings the same plastic as the wings? All my hopes for accurate looking landing gear are gone now that I noticed that they can't even to the landing lights right. Why bother with the lit position lights in the legs if Bandai can't even get that detailing right???? Could be an issue of the prototype though. Back to business: I agree with you. If this is transformable the bumps on the side of the nosecone should be not that broken up as shown in the Battroid-Mode. I assume the leg transformation is accurate and the hip joint rotates around 180 degrees into the nosecone hiding the hip joint and creating the bumps on the side of the nosecone. I don't understand why the nosecone is that long. In that scale they should be able to come up with a mechanism to shorten the nosecone for Battroid-Mode. Maybe split part of the fuselage apart that will fill out the sides of the Battroid-Mode.
  2. What do you mean? The VB-6 has also three modes. I don't think the transformation is probably different to the VB-6 but I think the transformation of the legs will be similar.
  3. I think it might have similar legs than the Koenig Monster. I painted in some areas into the picture: The magenta colored areas seem to be shoulders. Because than you have a nice marking for the Draken Boys squadron on the shoulder. The green part seems to be the lower leg and the blue part has to be the ankle. The outer part of the wing is likely part of the backpack. If they are part of the backpack than they have to be connected on the underside of the Valkyrie. That would lead to a funky Gerwalk-Mode because than the legs could only swing upwards which would mean that the cockpit is on the underside of Gerwalk-Mode. Which doesn't seem that unrealistic since the whole cockpit seems to be shielded to begin with. To keep the pilot with the head upwards it would have to rotate 180 degree around the roll axis which probably inhibit more movements of the cockpit area. That means that cockpit area would stay in place for all three modes just like on the YF-30. Your thoughts?
  4. I don't get my hopes up for any releases based on the images from the show. It could only be a display piece celebrating the history of Macross with a custom made model for every entry in the series. It would be a terrible waste of money but I get exited once we get a release announcement. I'm super hyped for the HMR VF-2SS though.

    luca rvf 171ex

There where no issues reported as far as I can remember. Certainly no reports about broken shoulder triangles and broken legs. To be fair I assume that a lot less units where sold of the RVF-171 than of the VF-171CF so it's hard to tell. However I also haven't heard of any breakage reports of the VF-171EX Itasha Valkyrie so I assume the RVF-171 is save.
  6. So I assume that the guy with the blond hair and the dark blue uniform is the pilot of the leader Draken Valkyrie since their uniform colors match up. I also think that the persons with the blond hair and the two sitting in front are guys while the red haired person is a girl. An indication could be the the ruff/scarf that is part of the uniform. Since their uniforms are all the same color (green as the Drakens in the background) the difference in the uniforms might be an indication of the gender. The collar of the guy in the blue uniform has the same style as the ones from the two people in the foreground so I assume the differences in the red haired persons uniform don't indicate a rank. The person in the background might be the headmaster of the knight order. I think it is the same person we see in the trailer with the gray hairs and the glasses (which would make him most likely male). This might clear up some of the speculations who the Draken Boys are. [edit:] Also notice that the two pilots in the background have feathers with red highlights where the ones in the foreground have feathers with blue highlights? Maybe this gives an indication of rank. So the guy in the blue uniform is the commander and the girl next to him is his second in command where the two in the foreground are normal soldiers. Whats weird is that there are four pilots, and five Drakens If this is no coincidence that maybe the blue Draken is the machine of the headmaster guy and the blue uniformed pilot flies a normal SV-262 (maybe a F-type where the rest flies A-types)
  7. Where there any news if Bandai is planning on reissue the SHF of RotJ Luke Skywalker and the OT Stormtrooper?

    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

I'm not feeling it either. To be fair I was skeptical the second this was announced so I'm probably biased. I prefer the Yamcadia 1/60th VF-1. Overall the size of the 1/35 scale is just too big for my collection space.

The problem with the ball joints is that the assemblies (i.e. the shoulders and the hips) where they're implemented are very small so there is no room for a set of ratchet joints/swivels that offer the same range of movement, So your basically forced to use a ball-joint. A 1/35 scale mode should be big enough to allow for more elaborate joints.
  10. The real question here is why aren't the girls singing Valkyrie pilots? I had my bets on Jamming Birds 2.0 with less annoying U.N.SPACY pilots focusing exclusively on the idols.
  11. Rumors say yes. The only thing we know for sure is that the have the Macross 0 license and most likely the VF-X one.
  12. After watching the trailer I thought the general tone of it was very bleak. Especially with the background music. Since this is all the information I've got at the moment (didn't read the trailer summary yet) I would assume that this is a dark and mature show that deals with serious topics. I honestly don't get a happy-go-lucky vibe from it. Of course the character designs are what is popular these days but I think the makers of the show aiming for a broad audience (which is good for the Macross brand). I think the character design looks ok. I could do with a more grown-up approach but this is no Lucky Star so it could be way worse in that regard. I looking forward to the show and hope someone will fan-sub it (fast). I also hope this is going to be a big hit so we can get a second season out of it. If it sells well enough we might even get a grimdark OVA.
  13. F'in yes. My Metal Build triptych will be complete. Now I have to find a way to acquire the rest of the Gundam Metal Build line.
  14. I know. I payed for my shippment from hlj yesterday. Oh well.... 60 days for the PW is not nearly enough. But now I will have my VF-0A to play with.
  15. I keep wondering why no one is hating on the weird blinking hair extensions of the Draken Boys . Anyhow I think what is missing in the trailer is an energetic Macross Delta theme song. The actual music in the trailer makes the setting of the show more doom and gloom than it hopefully is. That could be wishful thinking by myself though. The fact that the music quality is sub par in the trailers on youtube doesn't help. Since Music/Songs are one of the three pillars of Macross we hopefully get a glimpse of what it sounds like with the next teaser.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I thought it would be a cool design if the wings on the VF-25 folded into the other direction providing additional armor plating around the cockpit. However the VF-31 (and most likely the SV-262) shows that Kawamori likes the angelic wing design more.

    Hi-Metal R

Yeah, that VF100 teaser poster looked very promising.
  18. My understanding of the Japanese licensing deals is that they are bound to a specific scale and style of toy (i.e. PT, non transforming action figure, statue). If this is true that Arcadia could secure the 1/3000 PT license for DYRL? and release it. Personally I would prefer a 1/300 SDF:1 since 1/1800 is too large for my display areas.

    Bandai 1/1800 SDF-1

Yeah but I'm also not interested. The 1/60ish Valkyries are the perfect size imho. I might be interested if it has a anime accurate leg delivery mechanism and integrated filler bits for the chest (in addition to a mechanism to shorten the cockpit to have accurate dimensions and a sunken head.

    Macross figures

    Awesome.

    Bandai 1/1800 SDF-1

I think that is a too large toy for me. Maybe someone is willing to part with their Yamato SDF-1 so that the prices go down on the after market. Nice to see some pictures from the VF-31 backside.

    Bandai DX VF-31

It seems like Kawamori kept the cockpit transformation from the YF-30 but changed a bit. I wonder if the crotch armor is just plugged on top of the YF-30 waist joint. I'd love to see more pictures from the back of the Valkyrie. Ugly stand is still ugly. [edit:] Seems like they done away with the missile hard points on the forearms.
  24. I don't understand the love for Destroids (and their faceless pilots) at all. Especially if the look as awful as they did in the Delta trailer (assuming they where part of the trailer). I like the Koenig Monster but that is a transformable aircraft.
