  1. Yes I am aware of those issues but as I mentioned in a previous post, it is just my preferrence. And community-mantained Linux distributions like Debian generally make the propietary bits optional or remove them entirely (as with Trisquel).
  2. Good thing I use GNU/Linux instead of Windows, as I don't have to go through all those troubles such as Microsoft nagging you to install updates and forcing them upon you if you do not comply (see the site Why Linux is Better for more info). I also think Unix-based systems like Linux systems (Android included), OS X, iOS, BSD, etc. are better than Windows in many ways and have a solid track record, which is one reason why I prefer them.
  3. In-universe, the logical reason for the move away from passive stealth design is the use of active stealth on the fighters, making passive stealth unnecessary. Also, the VF-31 (and the VF-19) appear to be inspired by Grumman's Advanced Tactical Fighter Concept 9 proposal, which was supposed to be a "future" fighter that would be in service by today (instead the program resulted into the F-22):
  4. I bet Transformers fans will go crazy over it. It will be better if we get a Macross/Transformers crossover toyline (if Big West and Hasbro agree)!
  5. IMO the best way for them to live the life of a warrior is to join the UN armed forces, and yes there are UN Spacy Zentradi combat units (as seen in Frontier and Delta).
  6. I think he is referring to the podcast, which is now at 40 episodes.Edit: already mentioned in an earlier post
  7. Having just heard the podcast, I really can't wait to actually see everything discussed when Delta airs in April!
  8. With that in mind, is there a possibility that the preview episode is a reference to the Crusades, with a "European" kingdom attacking an "Arab" planet?
  9. Could that be one reason why the A-10 Thunderbolt was selected over the YA-9, as the YA-9 has the same landing gear configuration as the Su-25?
  10. Gintong Alaala by 420 Soldierz (a Filipino hip-hop song):
  11. And we in the Philippines have still been using the OV-10 in that role, for quite a time already.
  12. What's worse is that when the construction of the ships started, it was decided to build them to the CATOBAR configuration, but due to "cost issues" it was decided to revert back to STOVL. CATOBAR carriers have more flexibility with the airwing (as there are several manufacturers of non-STOVL naval aircraft) and thus has more long-term benefits.
  13. As I see it, in real life it got its "SV" designation to state that it is not a NUNS VF (as with the SV-51) but in-universe it is because it could be a Saab product and thus means "Saab Variable" not "Sukhoi Variable" as with the SV-51. Just like with the Bofors Ak 5 and the Kalashnikov AK-47/74/100 sharing the same "AK" acronym but not the meaning (I pointed this out in a previous post).
  14. I have already finished the Shipbucket Uraga drawing. Here is an Uraga from the late 2040's:
  15. A similar situation exists with the Sea Gripen (PDF data sheet), though due to the original design of the Gripen, with its rugged airframe and landing gear, the only modifications needed will be a naval tailhook and catapult tow bar.
  16. There was a planned carrier-based variant of the F-16, the Vought Model 1600. It lost to the F/A-18 Hornet for US Navy adoption.
  17. I don't think so, as the SV-262 resembles a Saab product (J-35) and "SV" in it's designation probably means "Saab Variable", it may be a Saab product in-universe and just shares a similar designation with the SV-51. For example, the Bofors Ak 5 rifle has nothing got to do with the AK-47/74/100 family of rifles, as with the Bofors Ak 5 "AK" means "Automatkarbin".
  18. Here is a design I came up with based on the discussion at the Macross Ground Variable Mecha thread, a Macross-inspired variable tank for my Colony of Corpus Christi alternate universe project for Shipbucket. General Dynamics M10 VMBTM (Variable Main Battle Tank-Mecha): It has a transformation similar to the D-50C Loto but with a fully rotating turret (styled after Destroids), 2 General Dynamics M500 140 mm beam guns and 28 Rafael Spike-MM micro missiles on the arms as well as rollers on the feet (inspired by the Destroid Cheyenne). Other armaments include 2 coaxial Orbital ATK Bushmaster 7.62 mm chain guns, smoke grenade launchers and an optional remote weapons station for various weapons (on top of the turret in tank mode and beside the head in mecha mode).
  19. It is something subjective and depends on the viewer. For example, people from the past will think of our modern technology as magic but we just take it for granted. Sure, Delta's magical girls are ridiculous but if they show what technology they use and explain it, then it won't be that much "magic" anymore. Though my primary (and perhaps, only) interest in Delta are the mecha and battles.
  20. That is exactly the what I really like in Macross. No matter how ridiculous the other elements are, as long as there are mecha and dogfights I will still watch Macross.
  21. An update to my FM-26 Hornet II variable fighter drawing: Boeing FM-26A Hornet II (single seater): Boeing FM-26B Hornet II (twin seater): And for a Macross color scheme, the FM-26A Hornet II in New UN Spacy colors, with the default armament of a General Dynamics GPU-20 gunpod and 2 Rafael Python-10 micro missile wingtip launch pods, alongside with the built-in head-mounted autocannons: And yes, the GPU-25 Gauss sniper gunpod folds for compact storage in Fighter mode, like the real life OSV-96 sniper rifle. This avoids having a long gunpod (like that on the VF-25G) that would impede transformation on the FM-26 due to its placement on the fuselage/leg hardpoint.
