  1. Its going to be another year before I can get out of my little place and into a bigger house with space for detolfs, but in the meantime, I'm running out of ROOM (so everyone's in battroid):
  2. Been on a Macross kick this year. Hi-Metal VF-1J's (Max and Hikaru), a couple Hi-Metal R regults, Arcadia's VF-4G, Toynami Green Battlepod... My latest *(before the VF-2SS that showed up today):
  3. Got one off Mandarake that was pre-opened for $180 shipped. Love Mandarake! First thought opening the box is that it's very big and very white.

    Macross figures

Ok, yeah, the head sculpts and painting were atrocious. The rest looks pretty standard from what I remember of GI Joe figs of the time.

    Macross figures

I'd argue that by comparison to the technology of the time, the shoulder joint on these looks worse than the old Matchbox figures (even with the metal rivet). Even Milia has the broad shoulders of a man. I collect Marvel Legends figs also and these look terrible by comparison. Regardless, the head sculpts are REALLY bad, especially for the males. Its like they referenced some custom Robotech art rather than the actual Macross pictures they put on the cards.
  6. Why's that? The MSRP of the VF-2SS and the separate SAP is pretty similar to the MSRP of the VF-2SS + SAP. Shipping being the big difference.

    Macross figures

Those are terrible. You're better off getting the originals Harmony Gold and Matchbox made in the 80's. In these days of high-quality action figures, those are an embarrassment. I guarantee they will cost $15.

    Hi-Metal R

If only...would have loved to have the Toynami glaug and now the HMR.

    Hi-Metal R

Yeah, the old versions of the DYRL VF-1A's is around $200+...which is difficult to justify. I want...but I don't know if that much.

    Hi-Metal R

Missed the HLJ preorder on the monster, got it from amiami, so thanks for the heads up. Got my 2 regults from HLJ today. They're awesome! They compare favorable with the Toynami's (still need both standards and the light artillery). Not an army builder, but the price was too awesome and in case the missile pods are add-ons. I can't figure out how to link from dropbox or gdrive, so I'll share links with comparison to the Toynami heavy missle version (which can even rest on the stand that comes with the HMR): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_d9TfExZnozVjAza2NUWVBZQ3M/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_d9TfExZnozTWFvRW0wZU1jVEE/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_d9TfExZnozOGk4MzVXeWVEaDA/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_d9TfExZnozUy1jY19hWVpXLVk/view?usp=sharing

    Hi-Metal R

I just got a couple of the original Hi-Metal VF-1J's (Hikaru and Max) from Mandarake this week. Beautiful toys, sturdy, exceptional for the size. Got one of the HLJ extra Regults a couple days ago also (went back to "Order Stop" after I completed my order). They've got them as "Low stock" currently, can't beat that $68 shipped to the states!!! So looking forward to this line. I will have that monster!
  12. So basically HG would just have to "sell" (or rather Bandai "buy") the license for a toy run for Macross/DYRL toys internationally. Bandai simply pay HG some fee and they can use the names Macross/DYRL. Isn't that about right? The only thing I'm surprised about is that the licenses HG bought were basically eternal...seems like there would have been an expiration date...
  13. I don't get why HG doesn't approach Bandai to get their products into the US. Its a win-win for HG. They can allow Bandai to sell them and just skim a little off the top for licensing in the US. Since the line is dead, its a lost argument. I don't understand a business (HG in this case) biting their nose to spite their face.
  14. I have bought my first Yamato valkyrie in about 5 years, the VF-17S (for $169 shipped, woohoo!). Its a beautiful piece of engineering, I wouldn't call it a toy though. Would definitely label it an "action model". My main gripe...the stickers and lack of a sticker instruction sheet. Did the 17D come with sticker instructions? I want to sticker this thing up. My other gripe is that the UN Spacy kites are too big and too small. I grabbed the kite stickers that came with a 22S to put on it, perfect size. I really wish Yamato would go with die-cut vinyl stickers for these. One of the shoulders is a tad bit loose but I'm going to go through a bunch of my toys soon and tighten up joints with super glue and I will hit this also. Most importantly the floppy 22S and my VF100's.
  15. IMO, but Bandai is dumb to not release the VF-25F right now. The toy is online available for DOUBLE the original MSRP. The iron is HOT, BLAZING. After a while people who didn't get the renewal will lose interest, andif they re-release it then, the reissue/re-release will fail.

    MetalBox's Glaug

RIght, but when they stole those Wonderfest VF-1 battroids to make their rubbery "super poseable" garbage, it didn't take them too long I believe.

    MetalBox's Glaug

So how long til Toynami rips this off???
  18. You guys at the end are talking about different Hi-Metals (as Graham indicated). raven029 is talking about the 1984(?) Bandai 1/55 Hi-Metal VF-1S Strike Valkyrie whilst you are talking about the 2009(?) Bandai 1/100 Hi-Metal VF-1J.
  19. If there are serious QC/glue issues with the toy, perhaps they are changing factories? Hopefully they will reissue the 17S and 19S (at a lower price point I hope) considering both are sold out most everywhere.
  20. So Maiden, before you were "let go", how were the perceived sales on the Regult? How about the Voltrons? I have no interest in the Voltrons, but I love the Regults you did! I'm very sad that the Glaug will probably not come out! I'm just sad it took me so long to get into the vinyl line. There is so much that could have been done with this...
  21. I love my heavy artillery pod, I have it sitting on my PC here at work. I just ordered the DYRL Heavy Artillery from BBTS also. I will get all the versions of this mold (I hate that I have to shell out $50 for the first versions). I really like this toy. Its really a $30 soft vinyl collectible but not everyone is such a huge fan of Robotech/Macross that they need 5-6 of these (especially in a non-canon color scheme...the DYRL ones appear for a few seconds I believe). Really a single battlepod with 2 connectable missile pods and the rear gun for $35 would have been a great idea. A lot of people would have gotten more than one so they could display all variations, and a single BBTS DYRL version would have been more limited and sold better. I think this goes to show the problem with how Toynami (and toy companies in general) thinks. You cannot milk a mold indefinitely and not expect people to get tired of it and tired of the line. They can usually do well to release a version 1, a repaint version 2, and a limited repaint verson 3. That said, I do not see these crowding any e-tailor sites, so they must have sold decently. I sincerely hope they make the Glaug and the 4-6 versions of inbit mecha. If anyone has the 02 standard Regult for under $30, LMK.
  22. Hmm, Bought... 1/72 = 9 1/60 = 2 1/48 = 3 I currently only have 1, a 1/60 VF-22S. It will be going up in 2012.
  23. Why not release it as a color-injection-molded/tampo-printed ABS kit? Just give us the instructions and the screws and I think we can put it together. Not brittle resin, not weak polystyrene, but strong ABS, molded in color, with tampo-printing for different colored pieces. I think this meets everyone's needs.
  24. I like Yamato's toys from an asthetic quality, but as far as materials go, they are shite. I can't believe they have been around this long in the transformable toy market using the materials they do. Hasbro uses much better quality in their toys produced in much greater quantities at a fraction of the price. We're just so desperate for Macross products. Of course...Bandai matched the Yamato quality issues when they decided to make the VF-25, but much of their problems were design issues. Nobody used crappier materials than Toynami on the Legioss/Alphas though.
