  1. Not Macross and he's in the background, but Mutavore joins my other PR kaiju
  2. I haven't owned the Bandai (yet), but I'd recommend staying away from the Yamato. It uses a peg-locking system in battroid/cannon, and despite gentle handling the pegs sheared off into the peg-holes. After that it wouldn't lock into place anymore. It was pretty terrible.

That sucks. That piece on mine falls off very easily.

HLJ has it order stop. Picked up a couple off amiami. I think the main reason hlj gets so much business is that their layout is more simplified and pleasing to (my) western sensibilities.
  5. The HMR are awesome! The only parts swapping NEEDED between the 3 modes is the canopy/heatshield. The gunpod handle also has to be removed to attach in fighter. To make it look better in battroid you CAN use the better hands and smaller wings. The toys are very posable and look and feel solid in all 3 modes. Definitely not cheap and worth more than their MSRP IMO. Especially when compared to the Arcadias, which I've started collecting also.

Got my Fokker from NY! With the stand! I preordered it 20 days ago. Maybe they all come with the stand? I'll get 2 CF VF-1A. One for each configuration.

Would also need to include "001" stickers, color-matched to the plastic. I'm all for it. Also, they should throw in the "black"/chromed feet with the VF-1A CF. They're on little ball-joints, so it'd be a no-big-deal switch.

Ah, thats what I have (both), I assumed the others were the same.

I know. Looking at the HMR releases, apparently they don't come with clown hands (I have only had the VF-1S Hikaru for a week now), but the old HM line (which I'm more familiar with) came with BOTH sets of hands. So yeah, it was my bad. There's so many pieces I haven't touched in the HMR toy and there wouldn't be a reason to put the SDFM hands on the DYRL toy.

Yeah, clown/DYRL hands are already included in the HM-R toys (I think the original HM i have also). Due to the price I'm sure we aren't getting fast packs. I am willing to bet they will release a set WITH fast packs. Bandai is gonna milk the **** out of this.

Ugh, Harmony Gold. To make things worse they provide us really poor imitations of the awesome Macross stuff coming out of Japan. The only good Macross products they have given us through Toynami are the vinyl regults. At this point I wonder if they haven't LOST more money than they've made by not trying their best to negotiate with Big West. On the plus side my HMR Strike Hikaru showed up today (EMS from Mandarake). First impressions...It's blue (well greyish blue). Weird choice of base color for this toy. Second impression...its TIGHT, like SUPER tight compared to my HM VF-1Js. This is both good and bad. Great for posability, but a bit scary for transformation. Keep it coming Bandai!
  12. I will wait another week or so, if it hasnt showed up I'll order another. Worst case scenario I'll have 2 to display in both modes. A friend suggested shipping things to my workplace also. Usually I use EMS which I have to sign for, so if I'm not at home I can go to the post office and pick it up (which happens a good bit).
  13. So I accidentally had mine shipped via SAL from hlj. Looks like most of the people in the US have received theirs from hlj. I have a feeling some MF stole the shipping box from off my doorstep today (no tracking to know for sure). Postal carriers are so effing lazy now that they don't even knock, they just put boxes down and run. Anyways, I was home working upstairs and I swear I heard my glass outer door open, my dogs were barking like crazy. I hurried downstairs and no postal carrier or anything, just a blacked-out car making a lot of noise as it drove away. If so, that'd be $70 down the drain simply due to lazy USPS and SAL. Can't wait to move in a year. Will definitely have security cameras in my next place. At least EMS makes you sign for it.

Can't wait for the HM-R missile versions. I'd definitely prefer if these were add-ons though (like the Hi-Metal super armors)...

Pre-ordered the VF-1S Fokker of NY for $119 shipped. W0_ot
  16. I'll probably have it in "storm attacker" most of the time.
  17. Parts swapping. Namely the central section.
  18. I put some clear nailpolish on the backside of the intake section holes for locking in fighter (like 2 applications). Now the legs stay locked in fighter, sweet. Gerwalk is pretty solid as long as you lock the other uper intake holes with the pull-down tabs on the back of the chest. Ratcheting joints on the swing bars would have done wonders for the toy. My worry is all the tabs. I still have nightmares of the back tabs from the Yamato VB-6 breaking and the thing becoming a floppy mess. Locking tabs are not a good way to go as there usually ends up being too much stress on the tab. Especially if the tab is inserted into a hole rather than using a small divot and some other mechanism for keeping things rigid. Overall I still like the toy. I wouldn't pay $200 for it without the SAP.
  19. I dont have any of the CMS mospeada/cyclones, but they keep going up in price. The lancer/blowsuperior is $200, and these are small toys. The legioss and tread (especially) are very plastic, but have very rigid clicking ractheted joints. The non-ratchet joints, especially the feet which are super loose and there's no easy way to tighten them. Overall very satisfying nostalgia toys for the hundred or so I paid for them. The toynami alpha is a decent sculpt, but the hands are garbage and there's a lot of problems with them. The beta is more solid but the hips have a weak ratchet mechanism. The overall failure of that toy is the diecast lower legs, they're huge and heavy and a real drawback to the toy. I don't own the toynami alpha anymore, sold the 2 I had. Both have wonky/badly designed link up mechanisms.
  20. Thoughts after a couple transformations: Pros: The plastic isn't as bad as everyone says. Its thin but pretty sturdy. Its pretty reminiscent of the CMS EX gokin series. I think the fighter mode looks sweet, but the legs are floppy, will do the nailpolish mod on the leg to backplate peg holes. Gerwalk is solid and I like it a lot. I cannot get the body (back to chest) to completely come together in battroid. The swing bars are in the way of the back connectors and I can EITHER have the head locked in place or both shoulders, but not both. I must be doing something wrong. Anyone have any advice? Complaints: I've already lost one of the little rubber screw covers from the swing bar. The pin in the feet doesn't go all the way through and I bent it pulling the foot out too far. Was able to straighten it and get it back together. The part that holds the feet and slides SHOULD be diecast. The chest swing bars are attached to VERY thin plastic, I can see BAD things happening there in the future. The pegs that the legs and arms use on the backplate in various modes should be diecast, I can see these breaking. Also, the swing bars should have ratchet joints IMO. Looking forward to the SAP!
  21. Thanks! I love the Hi-Metals. The CMS Legioss/Tread are very cool and difficult to put down. I love the small "action figures" also (as you can tell)...Revoltechs, Robot Spirits, Gnu-Dou...all fun to pick up and play with. Still a lot to get, but very low on room...
