You hit the nail on the head with that statement. That's exactly the overall feeling I got from watching all the "making of" documentaries. -

So I just finished up watching all 4 Alien movies on Blu-Ray and made it through ALL the extra stuff as well. Very well done interviews and thoughts put forward by everyone involved about all 4 movies. Makes you realize just how convoluted this franchise has been since the beginning. If you are a fan of the series, you need to pick it up. I had never seen the "special versions" of 3 and Resurrection. Still not great films, but better in my opinion than what was released in the theaters. Especially 3. I believe if Ridley AND H. R. Giger set out to make a prequel, it will be well thought out and probably pretty good, as long as it's not a re-hash of everything else. I will probably go to see it. Although the 3-D thing they could leave OUT. just my .02. -
I really need to finish watching 7......bout half way through..

Got my Finemolds 1:48 Tie in the mail yesterday. VERY simple compared to the x-wing. DO NOT have to mask off and paint the canopy's on this one!!! Great detail on the wing/solar panels.... -
Thanks Agent! And there's nothing glossy about the finish on the thing whatsoever.
-
Nope. Just using Pro-Modeler's Dark Dirt Wash. Fill in the lines with a paint brush, let it dry, and wipe away the rest with a slightly moist finger tip, or q-tip.
-
agreed! I need some of those. Anyway--had a chance to do some panel lining/detailing on this thing this weekend...not finished yet, but here's a few pics up to this point....the more detail you add to this thing, the better it looks!

EXACTLY. Giant decals would look horrible on this thing. It needs very small subtle decals if any...refer to the excellent 1:2000 custom thread. I for one am GLAD they didn't include any stickers. And could you IMAGINE the whining, moaning that would be going on if they had included water slide decals with this thing????

Favorite VF pilot? (not necessarily the best)

I just used everyday Testors plastic model glue...you know...the orange tube.. hint: use a toothpick to apply it to your piece and then glue the piece on. Have a pair of small needlenose pliers handy as well. Also, depending on the piece, you might want to apply the glue directly to the model instead of the piece itself. Makes it easier on some parts.

This looks kinda cool. Brad Pitt usually isn't attached to sucky movies these days..

Just picked up the 1:48 Finemolds Tie Fighter from starshipmodeler.com! The 1:72 scale Falcon seems hard to come by. HLJ has some, but it would be well over $200 by the time I got it to the states...no thanks! And something like 900 parts??? -
WOW! Fantastic work! great job!

I have to say, YES! this Finemolds kit was probably the best model I have ever built. It all goes together very well. Couple of tricky steps, as I had to skip around for painting purposes and the instructions are in Japanese, but the pictures are good. Everything either snaps firmly or screws into place. You don't have to use much glue at all. I didn't. Only on a few steps here and there. This kit isn't cheap, but I highly recommend it. The decals are also very, very good. I had to trim just a tiny bit off of a few, and a couple were hard to get off the backing, but all in all, laid down with decal set they look amazing. The sticker sheet I used only for the two tiny rebel emblems on Luke's helmet as the decals just didn't adhere to that white paint I used. You do have to cut the stickers out if you wanna use them, they are not pre-cut. Weathering was done with a combination of Pro-Modeler's Dark Dirt Wash for panel lines and the "Snow, Soot, and Rust" Tamiya Weathering Kit. This was my first time using this stuff and can I just say OH MY GOD! where has this stuff been all my life??? I only wish Finemolds made a whole line of Star Wars ships in 1:48 scale, I would attempt them all! Do they or did they make a Falcon???? -
LMAO!

Actually, when I was little, I always thought the city part was in the middle, didn't have a clue it was suppose to be in the legs. And if it helps, Eugimon, mine has the same tiny gap on the bridge glass too, which i hadn't even noticed...until now....thanks! but my paint aps are perfect!

Negative. Just the one side.
-
Yes, that's what I meant. And thanks---I had read that in Graham's review, I had just forgotten! Anyway--all pieces on! now on to panel lines.......uhhggg....

Anyone find a place for part # 30, and 32??? Can't seem to find anything in the manual about them. Graham??? Also, you might wanna mention to Yamato that there's nothing in the manual about how to "pop off" the leg place to see the city. Simple for those of us who aren't scared of breaking something, but it should be under a "gimmick" heading of some kind. Just my .02. Loving the Macross otherwise!
