Had a bit of a setback on the SDF-1 today....tried to take a small shortcut and spray paint the nose gun portion out of the rattle can just to see if the color was going to be right and put it on a bit too thick. Went out to the garage to try to remove it however no one really told me that off-the-shelf lacquer thinner would more or less melt not only the plastic a bit but also the glue that was holding the two parts together and then when I tried to take them apart it basically ripped the plastic not at the seam, patched and puttied as best as possible and re primering, but it is definitely not going to be as good as it would have been. Have I mentioned I FREAKING HATE these old 80s kits??? SMH. Apparently God never intends me to have this kit completed properly. Uuhhhhhhhgggggggg

The Beagle rider armors are....challenging to say the least, I did one of mine a few months ago after a lot of years not doing it and it took a good 45 minutes..All other brand of Rider Armors will never be attempted again..MegeHouse and whatever the one small Red Bartley one was -- good God, that thing was/is terrible.

I watched this for a second time over the weekend, hoping I would like it more at home than I remembered when I saw it in the theater. I just didn't get into it...which is a shame, because I really like the new crew, it's just the writing I can't deal with I guess. Need better plots and I agree with Mommar ..better BAD GUY! Eric Bana was great in the first one. Still my favorite new Trek movie by far!- 466 replies

I need that on my phone wallpaper NOW!!! -
I tell ya'll something -- the TomyTec 1/144 pilots fit in the seats of the Monster real good! And in my mind, wouldn't be that far out of scale in the real world, I'll post some pics later if I have a chance.

The devious part of me wants to just buy a couple and keep them in the closet to sell to people later on down the road when and if Arcadia goes away, and they become harder to get than the old Super/Strike parts.

It is. Fact. If Hasagawa did a new TV version, I'd be first in line. I really thought about not building this after getting the Megahouse one a few months ago, but the inner kid in me won out as I really want to see how good I can make this look now that I have a little bit of skill!

That's cool if that works for you, I'm old and have fat fingers..LOL. I wish Bandai would adopt the Tomytec method of parts attachment to sprues, It's the best I've seen. I was shocked by how well the method they employ works! I really hope they give us a VF-1D and lots and lots of other stuff as well!..enemy mecha???!! These little buggers are addictive!
-
Just as a tip, check carefully before you cut the parts off the sprues for these! 95 percent of the parts make it possible to snip off from the back/bottom of the part, not leaving any visible cut mark. I still recommend a good pair of Xuron sprue cutters for this.

It is one of the best painted pictures of TV SDF-1. It's just always bugged me how the bottom two rail guns point down!

Next up.... some proper vintage Macross nostalgia! I have a bit of a history with this kit.. built my first one back in 85 or 86 on spring break at my grandparents house when I was 10 or 11. Kept it for years and it fought several wars and amassed much battle damage. Mom threw it away a few years ago along with all my other teenage kits that I had done.. grrr.. Bought another one from a guy on another forum a year or so ago, but he took my money and disappeared. Jack wagon. So here we are.. 3rd try and 30+ years later, let's see how it goes!

They need to drop the 2 seaters!!! They would sell like hotcakes! VF-1D, normal and Virgin Road, Elint and Ostrich! MIc drop on Arcadia re-releases! BOOM! Profits!
