  1. I never saw the Robotech Veritech Fighter toy before - so I never knew they went with the super deformed version for their toy. I think that shrug at the end of the interview spoke volumes...
  2. You know, I was looking at the lineup on TV one day (the modern version of channel surfing, looking at the titles with the on-screen guide, anyone remember TV guide? - but I digress) and saw "Fist of the North Star" listed on one of the premium channels I have. I turned it on thinking "Cool! they are showing an Anime show". When I actually saw it was a Live Action movie I was disappointed but kept watching for a bit - ten, fifteen minutes tops before I turned it off. That thing was rock bottom.
  3. I was thinking that was just a bad translation. I think it was 6 shots and then had to do the normal recharge, which is what appeared to happen in the original cut of the movie.
  4. Much much better, the sad part is that editing often makes or breaks a movie (often terribly so) and a fan did a far better trailer in less than a day, with footage only available from the publicly available footage...
  5. Maybe, but this one looks more like a guilty torture. The black lady's character being the worst of the lot - only way they could have made it more cliche would have been to cast a white woman in black face.
  6. Looks like a bad Role Playing Game idea, I say this as the one who ran said game.
  7. I watched the whole thing hoping it would get better but it never really did - but I'm still reading your blog!
  8. Looks like a solid Netflix rental. (not a slam, I don't see many films in the theater and my kids are taller than I am)
  9. I'll take it one step further than what that guy said, we KNOW the physics in the Star Wars universe does not operate the same way as ours - there is sound in space and apparently atmosphere of some kind, both of which are impossible in our reality. As long as it stays reasonably internally consistent I'm good with it.
  10. Well, some folks have said I look like a bear after a month. Little sister aged about a year, maybe 6 months. The training sequence would have gone better if it had shown any training rather than just tests that remove the candidates. The bit where the Sniper was aiming at the girl (I think it was the Girl) - take that scene and show it a few times with the candidate getting better and better each time - as an example. Or showing them actually learning to fight, etc. Would have taken an extra 10 minutes of screen time at most if done in a collage type format and the film would have been much better for it. In addition they could have added a little extra over the top action to it.
  11. > You can certainly argue that Lucas deviated from Arthurian legend when they started working on Empire. I'd argue that there are certain similar tropes and leave it there.
  12. It was not quite as bad as I thought it would be (just saw it). Darn glad I didn't waste money on it in the theater though. Way overdone bullet time action sequences, goofy and cliche training/selection bits(*), are almost offset by heads exploding in a fireworks like display and Samuel L Jackson's lisp. Also on the plus side is that they did the Evil nut environmentalist way better than Tom Clancy did in the Rainbow Six novel. (*) - which never has any actual training of any kind being shown but there must have been something since the kid went from NO skill at all to super killer...
  13. Lucas has said a lot of stuff, a lot of which is demonstrably untrue. Star Wars being based in part of Fantasy is most likely true, any connection to the Arthur stories in particular is strained at best. Sure you have the young knight's Journey, but the part about Luke being the son of the great Darth Vader (the CHOOSEN one) did not come about till Empire Strikes back (and the actual chosen one malarky comes along even later).
