    The problem is that Vader was not only in close proximity to Leia for a considerable period of time he also grabbed her shoulder and NEVER noticed she had the force. Considering how others go about and can tell just by looking at them - long before said person (Annakin, cough) manifests any power - that is a continuity problem.

    Vader NOT knowing Leia (and Luke till Empire) was his kid and is strong (*) with the Force is another one of those little continuity problems, best not to even try to explain it away... (*) - though we never actually see her do very much at all in regards to using the force, at least on screen - knowing Han died is about it. (novels and comics, don't officially exist)

    I work in Air Traffic Control, I don't know that is why they did it but when I started working and re-watched it again the reason why clicked.

    In a year where the Mad Max film DID get a nomination for best picture I don't think it really matters.

    Just a quick note on the bridge personnel talking in English, it was for realism - all air traffic control in the world is done in English. (well maybe not in third world air forces or the Russian air force but all commercial air traffic control and most military as well)

    No, but if Luke has the power to see them in a vision he will also have the power to feel when they die. And if the plot to capture Luke on Bespin was a bust having Leia for another try or info would be useful. Or maybe Vader just had a vision of her in Jabba's palace...

    Movie wise R2 started blasting sentients (if that cackling thing in Jabba's palace is sentient) in "Return of the Jedi". I don't think Asimov's laws apply in Star Wars in any case. In the original Trilogy combat droids were just too expensive to put on screen...

    He saw R2's dome in Star Wars (or could have)... He did see 3PO in Empire Strike Back when Han is getting the Carbonite treatment.

    They could use the music from the Buster Crabbe serials... I would like to see FG redone, or maybe even Buck Rogers - the old TV show wasn't exactly good but it wasn't total trash (ok, some of it certainly was, second season worst of all) but it did have Erin Grey who would have been a great choice to play Misa...

    I saw on a talk show segment that BB8 was everything from a puppet to the robot in the movie. The full robot one is just for the publicity tour. As for R2, the shot where he is heading for the escape pod shows the problems they were having with it - it is clearly going to run into the set if it continued moving.

    This is Star Wars we are talking about, no need to go too deep. Ren is almost certainly related to Luke (or Vader) in some way shape or form.

    I saw Star Wars a total of five times, never seen any other film at a theater more than once.

    I'm just happy that the outer space SciFi dry spell is over for a while. Granted we had a few here and there but this year we have SW7, Star Trek, Independance Day 2, and another Star Trek to look forward too. Back to the theater on Saturday to see Star Wars again, first time I've watched a film at the theater twice since the original Star Wars.

    Doesn't matter, it looks great. As a comparison, the week before we saw "In the Heart of the Sea" and it looked terrible. No idea if it was filmed for Imax either but the 3d effects in that one looked terrible while Star Wars looked incredible. EDIT. My actual word usage was "well filmed for the format". NOT " filmed for the format"

    We have an excellent IMAX near me, best seats in the area, best sound, etc... If anyone has a top notch Imax theater nearby see this THERE! It was well filmed for the format.

    I'll answer for me with a list from years past. Star Wars and Empire Strikes back. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Saving Private Ryan. Gone With the Wind (even though it is before my time I can easily see why it is one of the greats, it transcends the time it was made) Aliens Superman (the original only) Star Trek II Letters from Iwo Jima. The Green Mile. To get things back on track "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" is my vote for best spy movie. But I've not seen Spectre yet. The advertisement for "Spy" is my vote for worst...

    And well he should, they usually want to know too much to begin with. Plus if it is a good story then go with it (not saying they are all good stories mind you). Especially with Dr. Who were Timey Wimey is the law of the land.

    Until he actually makes it on screen there is no official, even when there is. > That's quite interesting. Everyone that I talk to (myself included) say that Star Wars is an action movie. Never said anything different BUT action movie pacing has changed a lot since Star Wars came out. Although a slightly different genre the Bond films are a good example, the first entries seem to downright drag compared to the latest ones.

    I hate to blame Hayden Christensen for it, he might not be a great actor but those lines were so terrible that Laurence Olivier would not have been able to make them sound decent. When given the classic Star Wars banter lines he did pretty well.

    Have to disagree IF the differences in what is expected of a movie is factored in. The MORE MORE FASTER FASTER pacing of movies today is unthinkable back in the seventies in anything but, perhaps, grindhouse films. Star Wars is a more sedate film but it has to be judged in the context of the time, Lucas himself said that it is a sedate film but people did not react to it as such due to the amount of STUFF that was actually being shoved at them and not explained - like other scifi movies tripped over themselves doing. Star Wars was something totally new (granted - just as a repackaged batch of many things old) and that has to be taken into account when considering how good a film it is compared to others in the series.

    Me neither but since I just saw Pan and the latest Mad Max movie I will gladly nominate them for worst movies in whatever categories they can be slotted into. Best Action Movie is Star Wars, even with my reservations about the bad guys being a bit too cookie cutter it ended up being what a Star Wars movie should be. Best Movie of the year - In the Heart of the Sea (Like I said I have not seen many but it is refreshing to have a story that does not involve super heroes beating each other up for two hours)
