What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Dynaman replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm a little slow on getting to new releases, mostly waiting on them to hit Netflix or Hulu, etc... Watched the first 3 discs of Stein's Gate - slowest first 11 episodes I think I have ever slogged through and then episode 12 happens. I watched all of disc 3 in one sitting (7 episodes) and will most likely do the same with disc 4. -
True. After I posted I also remembered how badly the PREQUALS messed up continuity (mostly for the worse in the case of the prequals)

Other than the fact they break film canon in a massive number of instances.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Dynaman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Didn't really matter, for the most part it involved staring at the forward view screen. (and with that mention someone is bound to bring out that youtube clip...)- 854 replies

No, only films (and then only where new filmmakers liked the old ones) are cannon now.

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
Dynaman replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
Interesting, that means the possibility for some really funky tech since Frontier was the only fleet supposedly staying "human" in that regard. In reality I don't see it going down that road - not Macrossy enough.- 2715 replies

Game of Thrones Theory Discussion. Books. Show. Spoilers.
Dynaman replied to Gakken85's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Not really sure where to put this but when I saw these on the Star Trek page I thought they should do these for Game of Thrones, you know you need them because "Winter is Coming"... http://www.startrek.com/article/first-look-new-tos-tng-hats-and-scarves-from-thinkgeek I mean, I can't be the only one who thought of something so dumb.- 539 replies

A reboot would be bad enough - they have a perfect opportunity to have agents J and K break in a couple new agents to replace them (and thus start over right where it began). The idea of doing a crossover with Jump Street makes my skin crawl...
-
Looks good to me. Voices sound good and the animation does an excellent job of mimicking that "minimalist" style of the originals...

The enclosure in FTWD is within visual distance of LA, once a zombie swarm starts (and it will probably start when/if the military try to retake the city) they are getting to get swamped.

Yes - It has gotten much better IMHO. Only real let down of the bunch was the first 60 minutes of the first episode.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Dynaman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Godzilla films have been released on official DVDs now (at least some of them). I think all of the Gamera ones have been - and they are simply MUST see TV. If this clip from Godzilla vs Megalon doesn't entice one to watch then nothing will (IMHO this episode was not that funny with the riffs falling flat but this bit is hilarious).- 854 replies

Battletech Thread: Transforming Mechs
Dynaman replied to RedWolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I have to second that. I loved Battletech back in the day (still have almost everything from the second edition including the unseen mechs in cardboard standup form) but ALL of the original mech designs from the game were simply hideous. The recently released pic of the new Marauder design is very nice though.- 21 replies

It is a world heritage site so the railing may well ruin whatever it is they are trying to preserve.

I mentioned the panel lines here - and a higher part count actually makes that worse since it was the seam between two parts that cause the lines in the first place.
-
The thing is not that they are impossibly hard to put together, it is that there was no excuse for their being so many parts. Those who have been putting game miniatures together have an expectation of how many parts a mini of this size requires and the RT ones are way too high. That said I have seen painted up models and they are excellent when finished.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening

I HEARTILY recommend this film, in the MST3K version. One of my all time favorite Riffs are in this one. Captain - "Lets look lively!" MST3K guy - "But shes dead"- 854 replies

Back to the show I give my capsule review of the first two episodes. Episode one - boring till the last half hour. The kind of episode you can only get away with by being a spinoff (maybe...) Episode two - Much improved.

Just watched the final episode. Although this season was, in general, a step up from the last couple seasons(*) that last couple episodes were major stinkers. (*) - This is due to them dumping the cliche alien baby, take me to your leader, and other scifi cliche baggage.

Who's your favorite Macross Character?
Dynaman replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
Misa - one of my favorite characters of all time. A very nicely done rendition of a people I actually know, forceful in professional relationships and demure in personal relationships.
