Interstellar - In cinemas and IMAX November 7, 2014
Dynaman replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Saw this today and I am *SO* happy I did not see this in the theater. What a stinker.- 197 replies

I'll put my hat in the ring and go with Sheryl. Especially after her crises of faith in the original series, when she thinks she is washed up and sings just to try and cheer up the other people stuck in the bomb shelter with her.

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
Dynaman replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
If you are referring to the 8000 contestants. 7900 will be eliminated right off the bat. Out of the remaining 100 probably 10 or less will get to a third audition when a couple finalists will be selected. The writing and planning can continue without a lead VA singer chosen though a few final edits may be done to match his/her voice and personality.- 2715 replies

I've not seen any of the max films in a first run theater (saw Mad Max and The Road Warrior playing as a double feature in an arthouse theater though) so missing this one till it comes out on BD is no problem.

Rather good news, if anything Sony corporation might be able to sooth some ruffled feathers. If the movie comes out then great, even better if it is a good movie. Sadly with the writer from 300 I am not holding my breath.

I'd say it is more like cemented them, but I think that means we agree on my intent!

The "tech" shown in the original Tron was so unreal it didn't matter what it was supposed to be - it was simply an action movie with a computer theme. Even trying to make real world sense of it is an exercise in futility. As for The Last Starfighter. The computer graphics are unwatchably horrible now - and since it has a paper thin plot there is no need to watch it for that either. This *IS* one movie that screams out for a remake though.

I have to admit I am confused. Is all the animation going to be the style of the clips at the end? Shortly after the 25 they showed some computer animated stuff but I think that was from GitS 2.0.

Live Action Space Battleship Yamato
Dynaman replied to capt.actionjackson's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Double checked, it DOES have an English dub and it is not bad. You can also watch in Japanese with English subtitles. Not many extras, a VFX documentary and some trailers and advertising spots. The copy I bought was fairly cheap (Amazon) so well worth it even without extras.- 450 replies

Live Action Space Battleship Yamato
Dynaman replied to capt.actionjackson's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I thought it was dubbed and subbed and been surprised since I heard the Kodai actor did not want to be dubbed over - I'll have to check again, I've been known to remember things that are not true.- 450 replies

No, but the idea of a zombie working at the morgue is pretty good.

I think I read somewhere that in modern buildings a door like above is not considered safe - in the event of a fire people panic and push on both sides and so nobody can get out. You still see doors like that but on either side will be regular doors as well.

Make it go. That episode had my friend point out that although in the 24th century most forms of prejudice were dealt with it appears that TV writers in the 20th were still quite capable of making sure the stupid, vicious, and ugly aliens were also fat.

Babies make noise, noise is death. I don't think the show has made any reference to it. My guess is that infants are a pain in the butt to work with on a TV show - which is why Judith is off screen so much.

Back to 12 Monkeys. Anyone else watching it? I really like the characters (especially the scientist) and the plot twists so far. To say anything more gives away too much really.

Sarah Brightman, a possible Minmay prototype, to sing in space
Dynaman replied to Saruta's topic in Movies and TV Series
> The style might be a bit familiar too, but thats because 1978 and 1982 are not that far apart. Here it is: It might only be 4 years but it is FAR FAR FAR apart!!! (Disco, blech!) -
The blurays from Japan work fine in US BD players. The SB 2199 episodes are practically the same and were running about half the price of the Yamato releases - but they do not match up since they are 4 episodes each and the first Yamato disk is only 2 episodes. If the current prices are about the same then go for the Yamato named ones.

That spinoff idea actually sounds good. I'm glad they dumped the "backstory" ideas that were floating around.
