1. They don't anymore. The feds ruled that ANY suppressor is illegal without at least a special permit. Local fields around here don't even allow you to bring them on the field any longer (PA, NJ, MD). I had a suppressor and a barrel extenender for my old PMI-68 magnum. I put them on before the game to psych out the newbies, took them off during the game since they actually made the gun shoot worse and broke balls like crazy.
2. First thing I noticed in the Blue Ray preview is the girl - was she Gantz's daughter? (Pluto Base commander, I probably used the wrong name). If it is, and the Yamato crew have to make a moral decision regarding civilians then this show could go from excellent to wicked gnarly (I'm stuck in the eighties you see)
3. Yeah, "Dagon's Dragon" was FAR scarier then Event Horizon (and no, I'm not kidding - but most of the episodes, as discussed in another thread, are pretty wooden and suffer from seventies scifi syndrome) Lovely model!
4. I don't remember that line, is that from this season's first episode or a different one?
5. That didn't bother me, perhaps it should have, but the idea that Spock could see Vulcan be destroyed - without any technological help - from a star system away (say a light year at least) less then a day after it occurs is interesting to say the least. In the theater the Lense Flare actually hurt my eyes - the last time a movie made me slightly ill like that was Dick Tracy with all the primary colors. (Batman and Robin only gets a pass on this since I did not see it in the theater, but even on the small screen that one made me quesy)
6. It doesn't even have to be quite as good - as long as he tones down the lense flare...
7. I like both episodes so far, and next week's looks promising as well. Dalek chick - I don't think you have the correct person, it was from the first episode this season. Wasn't the red dress lady in a cyberman episode, christmas special if I remember correctly. The two robots from "Snakes on" er make that "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship". Are they based on a comedy team in the UK?
8. I guess we just have different definitions of anatomically implausible females (I can't say impossible Dolly Parton swears hers were real...)
9. There is a huge difference between "fit" and "lifts weights like Arnold would all day long". Far too many of them fall into the later category (not all though, so not quite as bad as Shadow Chronicles in that respect). The women though, they all have huge "talents" as Bernie Tenaka would say (or perhaps it was Mel Fujitsu)
10. Movies - yes, source material, RH had not gotten to that phase of his writing career yet... I don't know who did the character designs but they are as bad as Shadow Chronicles IMHO.
11. Maybe it is a sequal to Van Helsing, that howl at the end is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
12.
I have only seen him in Green Mile (that I remember, and how could one forget?). He really did deserve the Oscar for that role.

13. Yeah, and I was really looking forward to what SA could do with the material too. What a letdown.
14. I finally saw this last night- I expected MUCH better from Shinji Aramaki. Far too much casual nudity and sex, horribly cliched characters, and boring action sequences. Character design appears to have been done by Tommi Yume as well. On the pluse side there is a twist in the usual formula - on the negative side - by then I didn't give a rip (I decided to read a book during the movie, thr ultimate insult for my first watching of a film...) Final word, better then the last 2 movies, on par with the first.
15. Why not, can't be any worse then the first one! (which I watch every year, used to live in Blaine and I get a kick out of seeing all the sites in the cities)
16. I was going to say it might have just been that someone dropped the negative and put it back wrong, but that would just prove I'm old...
17. And comics fans wonder why the rest of the world doesn't take them seriously?
18. I'm on the second disk of "Speed Grapher", from the name I was not expecting much but the show is pretty decent. I'm hoping it does not lose focus or have a stupid ending, but good so far. (not anime, but TCM had a Akira Kurisawa film festival I taped a while back, they were all great - currently finishing up Seven Samurai, the movie just keeps getting better every time I see it)
19. Oh heck, up till now I was looking forward to a Blake's 7 reboot, now it is going to either be great and cancelled, or really really suck and never end... http://blastr.com/2012/08/that-blakes-7-reboot-has.php
20. Here in the US it is 9pm eastern on the 1st as well. Woohoo!
21. > A bunch of people sitting around commenting on what they like best is not my idea of entertainment. (Unless it is Joel/Mike and the Bots of course) Now that IS a good idea, time to call up Steven Moffat and pass along the idea...
22. The wife and I saw it last weekend, enjoyable popcorn flick. Well enough made, not too many duh! moments (building the "Fall" in the first place counts though, as Roger Ebert said - there has to be a cheaper way to get cheap labor to the UK...)
23. That happened in the Japanese Army (and a LOT), not in the navy. At least not on a capital ship. Beating up inferiors, don't know if that was as commonplace in the WWII Japanese navy as in the army - but in the army it was practically required.
24. Times have changed, the blatant disregard for chain of command is missing from the new show as well (at least so far), all the changes for the better IMHO. I don't miss Kodai's hot-head ways either, looking at the old show now those moments are actually cringe worthy at best.
