Who took care of Michael Blanc after Jessica Blanc died?
Big s replied to MomoHibiki's topic in Movies and TV Series
Thanks for clearing that up -
Well, not that much of a surprise, we sort of knew it was inevitable. Tomahawk better be next. I don't know what comes after blue-balls.

Decals are on. Now it’s time to panel line, detail paint, weathering and do washes. I already see some areas that need more attention but I’m moving on for now. Have to admit I’m getting excited!

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Seto Kaiba replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
Nah, they've been mixing and matching versions of events and designs pretty much the entire time. Macross runs on Broad Strokes Continuity, which Kawamori has sometimes attempted to explain as all Macross titles being dramatizations that emphasize or deemphasize parts of an unseen "true" history or that they're all equally true. In practical terms, it just means Macross has a multiple choice approach to the past and that designs from all versions coexist so they can use whatever they feel best fits the new project they're working on. We saw a fair bit of this in Macross 7, where the in-universe Lynn Minmay Story special that Fire Bomber was hired to work on mixed and matched a DYRL Vrlitwhai and a TV Quamzin, and of course the in-story version of DYRL? having scenes that aren't in the real version like Max and Milia's wedding. It's very prominent in Macross Delta as well, where Berger Stone's historical summation shows things like the TV series ending of Frontier, but with Alto using the YF-29. -

Who took care of Michael Blanc after Jessica Blanc died?
Seto Kaiba replied to MomoHibiki's topic in Movies and TV Series
"Yes." You see, we're dealing with a character who has a nickname that is a variant form of his given name. His given name is written ミハエル (Mihaeru) which is the katakana rendering of Mikhail or Michael. His nickname is ミシェル (Misheru), the katakana rendering used for his name's French variant "Michel" (but also the feminine "Michelle"). Back when the series was being fansubbed, this naturally caused a great deal of confusion because his name was being pronounced inconsistently by different characters. Some fan subs went with the assumption that he was Russian based on the Russian sounding pronunciation of his given name and that his surname is spelled/pronounced "Buran" (ブラン, Buran, which can also be used for the French "Blanc") like the Soviet spaceplane/space shuttle program. Some fans assumed he was French and that his nickname was his actual name, and rendered his name as Michel Blanc instead. Official materials (e.g. Macross Chronicle) and merchandise have since cleared the matter up, that his given name is meant to be written "Michael", that his surname is "Blanc", and that the French variant we hear "Michel" is an affectionate nickname. That's generally incorrect (see above). A lot of fans have guessed about what the nationality/ethnicity of his Human parents might be, but AFAIK there has been no official statement on the matter. The few books that do talk about his family generally stick to mentioning that he has Zentradi, Zolan, and Human ancestry. Sometimes they get as specific as to say the Zentradi is in his grandparents generation, but that's about as specific as they get. -
There goes, probably, the chance of a reactive armor. Was expecting Bandai to reissue the VF-0S in bundel with the armor since it is the only variant animated equipping it.

Next release: the VF-0S again.... this time with QF-22000D B https://tamashiiweb.com/item/15468/?wovn=en

Here's a better closeup of Iceman's head sculpts. The ginning face in the low quality ones looks goofy af. The clearer photo looks excellent though.

I honestly dislike the effects parts for Ice Man quite a lot. They could have done so much better.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Big s replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
I kinda figured that, but was just wondering if maybe there’s was something more to it, like certain fleets had a different uniform or something. I guess not -
When there are a lot of runners, I usually make a few alphabetically ordered stacks if the runners aren’t made just for specific sections to make it easier to get to. there are a few kits that have parts separated for certain steps though, like their VF-1 battroid that mostly had them set up that way. It made it easy to organize that one. there’s also the option of reading the manual for the section you’re working on and just grabbing the necessary runners for that particular section.

Master Dex replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
The explanation is basically the old Kawamori standard: All versions are true, from a certain point of view. When every entry is a dramatization of that unseen real events the designs can and will go back and forth and change multiple times. Generally the DYRL stuff is more popular, and it's supposedly also newer (which is why it's used in the in universe version of the movie, they used newer tech for a historical film because all the old stuff was not available anymore). It's not that most satisfying answer admittedly but it is an answer lol. -

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!

I’ve been rewatching Frontier on Hulu and noticed something I either forgot or didn’t pay attention to when I watched it as a bootleg years ago. It was the episode where they go down to that planet and Temjin hijacks a Queadluun Rhea. The thing I didn’t notice was that the Zentraedi weren’t just in movie style designs, but a mix. Most including seemed like they were wearing movie style body armor and those seemed to be with Temjin’s revolt. The others mostly had Tv style light body armor and maybe a guy or two wearing long coats like in the og show. I guess I had always assumed they just went for Dyrl designs for them from 7 on. But this kinda threw me off a bit. Was wondering if there’s an explanation behind all this or not? -
bloody hell... I've been clipping and sticking stuff together (as well as panel lining on the head) for almost 2 hours and only came this far with the VF-19 Fire Valkyrie. Head and piece of the body. The instructions have 139 steps. I am past step 15 now. This thing as so many runners, a perfect grade Gundam is getting jealous. From A to Z and then AA to AH. That is 34 - PLUS... a few of them are double... So man runners ... I'll have nightmares of this one hahahahah.

Is it Michael, or Michelle? been rewatching frontier lately and my old bootlegs were a bit confusing over spelling. They’d waffle back and forth. The Hulu subs spell it Michel and it sounds like it’s pronounced like Michelle. I know here in the States it’s extremely rare to be named Michelle and be male, but he does seem to have a French last name, so I wasn’t sure on which name it’s supposed to be. -
That's one thing that irks me in regards to Heppoko Samurai's post, no further explanations on why so and so doesn't work and there's no proper explanations on how to fix it. I get this is first impressions, but its like he's condoning that this version of the revival 27y is not up to snuff.
