Pontus Posted August 15 Posted August 15 I hope that the statement, "the items will be shipped with the Alus Edition UHD Blu-rays" means that the discs are coming soon. This has been dragging on for a while now. I know there was some extra stuff going on, but these were originally promised by last December. Quote
UN Spacy Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Wow $30 for an acrylic stand… … 😞 I’ll probably just go for the patch. Quote
sharky Posted August 18 Posted August 18 (edited) I couldnt tell from the latest update how big the standee will be. Had to go back and look it up. Originally he was proposing 2 options a 1/10 scale at $20 or a 1/6 scale at $30 plus shipping. He mentions on the latest update that the standee is $30 including shipping. So, I wonder will the standee be 1/10 ($20+$10 shipping)? Or, is he giving us a break and it will be 1/6 at $30 shipped? Edit: I asked the question on Kickstarter. The standee will be 1/10 scale at around 6.5" Edited August 18 by sharky Quote

The only way to sell something if you have absolute contempt for your customers. (Here's a good explanation of why I say that. It doesn't even touch on the standard multi-year delays.) Scyla Posted September 1 Posted September 1 The standee and patch can now be added to an existing backing: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/madoverlord/macross-ii-lovers-again-alus-edition/posts/4472714?ref=ksr_email_mktg_auto_backer_project_update_registered_users Quote

Seto Kaiba Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Lookin' good. The artbook promises to be a bit of a doorstopper. It's 60% bigger than planned, up to 240 pages from 150. Quote
Convectuoso Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Why is Mikimoto-san drawing Ishtar a child's face now? Quote

Hey Seto! First hi! It's been awhile, and second. Do you know how they compare to the Hi-Metal releases? Am tempted to buy the Silvie and Nex versions to complete my little Macross II bluray release shrine. The hi metal look nice, but am not sure as I have never bought one. Thanks again and good to see you!😁 Quote

Thanks again and good to see you!😁 Evolution Toy's VF-2SS is 1/60 scale, so it's about 50% larger than the Bandai Hi-Metal. I'm not a toy collector by any means, but my wholly subjective impression is that the Evolution Toy VF-2SS is lower-quality than the Hi-Metal R despite its larger size. It has some joint problems particularly around the hips and struggles to stay in fighter mode due to the tabs that hold the legs up being a poor fit. IMO the main advantage of the ET one is its larger size + the availability of the Fairy Platoon variant with decals to do the other three members of Sylvie's unit. Neither toy is truly screen-accurate though. They both made the same design compromises to have the removable Super Armed Pack so the pack itself is a lot bulkier and sits a lot higher on the airframe. Neither one has the correct number of Squire bits either. The VF-2SS normally has five, but the Hi-Metal R has four and the Evolution Toy only two. Quote

With that, then I may be learning towards the Hi-Metal ones. I just wish they had a metal siren version. I love that one! Sad that we can't get a good perfect transformation screen accurate one. Funny. I used to write Macross II off, but you were the one here and on the old robotech boards, that made me appreciate it and in the end love it more. Thanks again Seto, appreciate you. Quote

Thanks again and good to see you!😁 The Evolution Toy VF-2SS is terrible. You can watch jenius’s review on his YouTube channel or read up on it here: https://anymoon.com/blog/?p=10212 The Hi-Metal R ones are serviceable but they capture neither the sleekness nor the transformation of the VF-2SS accurately. jenius’s review is here: https://anymoon.com/blog/?p=10337 The one fatal flaw that the HMRs have is that the canopy cover doesn’t sit properly on top of the cockpit so it always looks super odd. I also don’t like that the arms just sit there in fighter-mode and don’t conform to the fuselage in any way. They are also secured by my eternal nemesis, tabs that fold in to hide them. This makes the toy much more fiddly to handle in fighter mode than they need to be. Overall a lot of the negative aspects of the HMRs come down to its small size. It is a good release, much much better than the Evolution Toy ones. But it is not the high end, super fancy and accurate rendition of the VF-2SS that I ultimately want. Quote
