Wonder what scale that works out to?

1/18 scale.

It would make a bit more sense IMO for a battle pod to open liken this, instead of the "cram-a-thon" special.

It's painted beautifully, no doubt, but I think the rust pattern is kinda bizarre and from a distance  a little too close in colour to the sand - which makes it look like caked on (or a settled layer) of sand, but again with bizarre placement.

Mostly it's  that band on the bottom of the thigh section - then nothing  on the knees - and again on the bottom of the shins fading as it goes up. It just looks weird to me.

Wow! That’s really nice. I just ordered Arii kit the other day. I will be coming back to these images for inspiration.

This guy has some serious sculpting talent. It has the basic silhouette, but just about everything is completely redone

Compared to the starting kit, it looks like with the amount of work, you'd be better off starting from scratch.

You’re probably correct, but I love the effort to try and be able to still say it’s the old model. I think if starting from scratch, the model could have even better proportions though and I don’t think it would have been beyond this guy’s  skills

Totally agree. I appears the OG kit is there just as comparison reference.

Looking at theses pics a little  closer I'm pretty sure @Papa Rat is correct and this is a straight scratch-build with the kit there for comparison.

Yep, scratch! Thanks for posting this, it so very cool seeing the process.

Though, it should be a bit longer, I think, as the plastic model always looks a bit stubby.

I’m going to do a straight build of the kit when it gets here but the idea of scratch building one sounds like fun. Or maybe having a 3d print made.

I began working on the entire Zentraedi fleet sometime last year. I should get back to it. I had a decal rip, so I dumped Micro Decal Film into my airbrush and sprayed it all over the decal sheets. Hopefully that will keep the decals together.

Well here is the complete set of process pics from the IG post.

I simply cropped a few to highlight the scratch building.
