I get the price arguments.

But all that extra feet in the back of the fighter mode and the tailfins sticking out are gonna cause issues, if they design a Tread to connect to it.

I suspect a Toyrise Tread will have some big differences from the anime version. Aren't these toys 2/3rds the size of the Sentinel? I expect lots of concessions and unique takes. As other members have pointed out, 1/48 is too small for a Legioss... Going even smaller? Wild. Pose+ had the right idea for scale but I have more than a few concerns about what they choose to do with it.

I wouldn’t say that the Riobot Legioss is too small. If you're looking for a massive shelf presence, then yeah it can seem small and the Pose+ is what you'll want. But ever since going in on the HMRs, I've found myself picking up and playing with those more, and just leaving the 1/60s on display. So, yeah, I get the playability factor and I might just give the Toyrise a chance whenever they get around to making the OG versions.

But when you combine the Sentinel Legioss and Tread (or the Toynami Alpha and Beta), the combined fighter becomes a big bastard.

Yeah, if you factor in the Legioss and Tread combining, then 1/48 scale seems to be the logical size for these. I doubt that Pose+ will produce a matching Tread unless they make a killing with the Legioss or if it's crowdfunded.

Well, anytime a toy is upscaled, the strength, durability, and range of the joints are always a greater concern. Too, the use of diecast, which, for some, gives the impression of greater quality given the increased heft (I think I prefer more plastic with judicious use of diecast where sturdiness is a major factor). I like the look of the Pose+ and the increased scale certainly allowed them to do much more with the figure than Sentinel's little 1/48, which I still consider an excellent toy overall. However, my display space is exceedingly low these days and I wouldn't know where to put such a large figure if I got it. That's a personal issue, but anymore, I'm looking to smaller scaled toys like the HMR line over 1/60, which is my preference. However, I've been rather impressed by just how many features Bandai has managed to cram into the HMR figs, and Sentinel managed to cram a lot into their Legioss, so even at these smaller scales, a lot of these toys are proving quite impressive for how much can be built into them. I still wonder, with all the other built-in stuff Bandai manages with the HMR Valks, why they don't just integrate the retractable landing gear, too. Seems like something completely feasible.

As to Toyrise, I'm thinking these aren't going to be too far removed from Transformers quality. While I don't mind their taking some liberties, I think there's a fine line between just right and too much. I've already mentioned my dislike of the high heels, or ballet shoes- it just doesn't look right or good. Moreover, I don't think the feet retract into the leg in fighter, so there's a lot of foot hanging out back there. And just like their Legioss, if they're taking liberties with one design, it's apparent that they'll do likewise in the event they choose to do a Tread. I wouldn't bet on the connecting mechanism, or connection itself, to be a very elegant thing, either. While a playable Legioss sounds fun, from what I'm seeing, I wish the execution was better.

After you mentioned it, I started noticing how overly arched the FRONT feet are on the Toyrise.  Would be better if the foot laid more flat, but none of the pics seem to show that as possible.

And with so much of the feet sticking out the back in fighter mode, you can expect a ton of gaps in the Tread (like the old Toynami one) and a much longer connecting boom that’s a separate attachment.

Bugger!!

I missed the pre-order window at hlj.com for the Moderoid Mospeada. It's now order stop.

I emailed bbts inquiring if they'd stock it as a pre-order or for sale on release date. Waiting for their reply :pardon:

Amazon.jp is still taking orders directly.  They ship to Australia, right?

Could try hobby search or another site. Seems None of the American sites are gonna carry them unfortunately. Saw a few moderoid releases pop up on American sites that had preorders after the Mospeada ones and it’s been several weeks since then for Mospeada ride armors.probably a harmony gold blockage due to naming. Places like bbts usually have listings within the same week for preorders after the Japanese sites and often the next day, but it’s been a while

Just checked hobby search and they’re both still listed for preorder

What is TIA?

Moderoids are models with joints that can be built with theoretically no painting (sprues come in correct color).
