Yeah, the HDTV rip I checked out has an unrestored credit sequence for episode six.It looks like this: post-1202-0-07679500-1330525280_thumb.jpg

Not sure why the whole thing is so distorted either. It's basically cropped on the sides then re-stretched to 4:3. The rest of the episode was anamorphic. Not sure if that was due to the broadcast, or if whomever ripped it did so themselves.Though it is higher res than the included ending.

Checked my R0 just now, and noticed that the ending is also unrestored on that, so this has apparently been a long standing issue. A shame.

Excuse the phone shot, but for the heck of it, here's what the movie looks like: post-1202-0-71784600-1330527734_thumb.jpg

Looks like the background was redone (a few differences give it away). Not sure on Gunbuster though. It looks a lot like the original. Given that, I applaud their adherence to the original art, even if it looks so bad. I also don't see why they couldn't have windowed the 4:3 like the majority of the Gunbuster movie BD but oh well..

Interesting to hear that Honneamise's meddled track found its way onto the disc. Is it exactly the same as the R1? New Sound FX like the movie? Glad to hear the original audio is still there.

The bad stretch must be the fault of the rippers, the credits are 4:3/matted widescreen like the rest of the episode. As for the reasoning, supposedly it's a lost master for the credits issue, but the redone anamorphic movie credits are included as an extra on disc.

Well, it's a TV rip, not a BD rip, so I could see it as an issue there. Not that it entirely matters. Shame they couldn't at least clean it up a bit. The echoing is particularly bad.

Looks like it (the credits) are from an analog master. Probably LD or the first DVD release. At that point no amount of cleanup can fix it. This is why they completely redid them for the movie.

I like the matching theming on the box.

I've been checking out the fansub scene. Pretty shocked to see that most of the rips coming out are just the altered 5.1. Even KAA, who corrected it on their R1 rip. The version on BakaBT even uses the uncropped episode 6 because it "looks better and matches the previous episodes". Wish I'd caught that before it went live.

Well, well... The evil side of Gunbuster. Or should I say skanky side of Gunbuster. Cosply at its worst or its finest. You decide. By the way, do not open this link at work. Some of these can be deemed as not appropriate.

Heh, indeed! After playing around with the figure I like it much better. The joints have an excellent design that makes poses look very lifelike and natural. The wobbly joints on mine were because they weren't pushed into the sockets as far as they could go.

I agree, the size is almost off-putting to me. I think I just have to let myself get used to it though. Aside from that and some rather soft/wobbly joints, she's beautiful.

Personally I'm glad to see manufacturers making figures in a decently large size. I can't stand how dinky Figmas are and I'm sick of seeing every new figure line jumping on the stupid-tiny scale bandwagon.

Agreed. My initial reaction was more out of shock I guess - I'm so used to human figures being all around the same smallish size that Noriko's big self really took me off guard. Once I handled the figure and got used to the size I really like it. It feels more substantial than a Figma or Revoltech, and will easily have more of a shelf presence.

Just got around to fully watching the bluray set the other day, will I ever not tear up at the end? I've lost count of how many times I've seen Gunbuster, and it gets me every time!

You're not alone. That ending is just absolutely perfect.

Same here. Everytime - from the days of raw VHS copies to today's Blu-ray discs. Probably my most watched anime next to DYRL and Porco Rosso.

I finally watched diebuster. not sure what to say.

You should probably say something about how cute & awesome Nono is, or perhaps ask why a previous pilot left a Top Squadren flight suit inside Dix Nuef's true cockpit :)

Nice to see that the face doesn't look as horribly flat on that Noriko as they did on the prototypes. Shame I've never seen any attempt at an episode 6 look though (different sweater, longer hair).

Not bad costumes for cheap porn. XD

I was looking at some BD screencaps and noticed something interesting. Seems that even though I've watched the sequence dozens of times, I never noticed that during the combining one can clearly see both the Buster Tomahawk and Buster Homerun in the towers. I always wondered where the designs for the GX34 versions came from and here they are staring me in the face. Always something new to see. Impressive to see them include weapons in the drawings that never even get used.

Indeed, that's awesome. Also reinforces the awesomeness of GX-34 :)
