Thom Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Very cool with the gearing @MechTech As for the scoops, the ones from the kit have blank fronts rather than open.
F18LEGIOSS2 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Wings are mounted on the gakken! Knees and arms still need a lot of work though
tekering Posted September 19 Posted September 19 @MechTech continues to impress with his mechanical engineering! I'm calling the Mos Eisley diorama done. I reprinted some parts at a larger scale to give the derelict Dowager Queen a sense of forced perspective. The twisted bits of metal hull clinging to the frame is just painted paper. The "sand" is about 50% baby powder. 😉 These two kitbashed figures are based on extras seen in the background during the 1976 Tunisia shoot. Several more are still in progress. pengbuzz Posted September 19 Posted September 19 (edited) UPDATE: revisited my 1/720 CVN-65 Diorama; this is going to our regional fair to go on display in the crafts and collections competition: It gets delivered to the tomorrow and will be on display there until the 29th! Hoping I will get at least some recognition; historically with every model contest I EVER entered, my work has NEVER been recognized or won anything. Edited September 19 by pengbuzz
Papa Rat Posted September 19 Posted September 19 @tekering looks great! The use of paper for that “sheet metal” is brilliant. @pengbuzz Wow! Best of luck to you.
MechTech Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Thank you guys! @Thom That's sad they made scoops without the scoop! @F18LEGIOSS2 "We can rebuild him, we have the technology"😁 Looking good! @tekering That diorama looks great! Nice details and layout too! @pengbuzz Here's praying for a first place ribbon!!! - MT

I think this hobby is never about the awards, but about the fun. Although if you do win, that’s a real bonus. Let us know how things go
505thAirborne Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I just need to do some fine tuning & touch up, then it's time to re-assemble!
505thAirborne Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I'm just going to enjoy it like this for a moment before I add the Jupiter Base stickers & decals. Overall, the colors suggested by @tekering match the Toynami Poseable & CM's Legioss very closely, the Alpha MPC is slightly different but overall, I'm happy with it.
Thom Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) Nice looking dio @tekering. Good idea with the paper for metal. @F18LEGIOSS2 That brings back some nice Robotech* memories! *don't hate me, I was a kid when I watched it!! Good luck, @pengbuzz! That is a great looking ship scene! I remember loving that Alpha/Beta fighter team ups @505thAirborne. That's so cool. @MechTech Right! It's not a scoop without the scoop! Edited September 21 by Thom
505thAirborne Posted September 20 Posted September 20 @Thom Thank you! I've been adding stickers and some decals to the TREAD, she's looking pretty mean right now. I transformed it to Bomber mode and right now she's linked with a Shadow Fighter, I'll take some pics in the morning. Overall, the paint held up nicely during transformation.
Cheese3 Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I butcher my vf-1a! Haha! I had to try again but this time a vf-1j cannon fodder!
505thAirborne Posted September 20 Posted September 20 A few pics of the Beta with the Pilot-less Dark Legioss & Shadow Fighter.

Papa Rat Posted September 20 Posted September 20 @505thAirborneWow! That looks 🔥 Great work no doubt.
derex3592 Posted September 21 Posted September 21 (edited) Decided to break out the TEXAS from the depths of the closet stash after over a year of not touching it. A little bit of photoetch on a quiet Sunday morning is a good way to get my feet wet again on this build. Not to shabby after not doing PE for a while. Small steps Ellie... LOL. For those who have done ships in 1/350, you know what I mean! 😁 Edited September 21 by derex3592
Thom Posted September 21 Posted September 21 @Cheese3 That dio is looking good! @505thAirborne Fantastic! Good luck @pengbuzz! @derex3592 Good start to the PE. The only /350 I've done (to completion) was a USS Independence littoral ship and PE. I have a couple smaller /700s with PE that I need to get back to. And I should be at a model show right now, the IMPS ROCON show in Rochester NY, but of course I am sick with 'tummy problems' to name one ailment...

Sorry that you're not feeling well; is the show more than one day?
MechTech Posted September 23 Posted September 23 ego, 111@Cheese3 It's great to see that old variation set get some love! @505thAirborne That is a BEAUTIFUL mod to the TREAD AND the combo together! It would be cool if you could get or make the big disruptor cannon for it. @derex3592 Your photoetch is looking clean. At least it's not 1/700th scale!😁 @Thom I pray everything has been sorted out in your gut! - MT @pengbuzz So, how did the fair go? I saw an AWESOME P-3 some kid did in Lego, complete with interior operator's stations! The only unrealistic things were the skeleton and storm trooper headed pilots!🤣 Even the crew were in flight suits! - MT
Thom Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Thanks @pengbuzz and @MechTech. I am still not over it! Started Sat night, kicked me in the beep-boop all Sunday and most of Monday, so even if the show had been more than one day, I still couldn't have gone. And of course, the day for my doctor's appointment is the day it finally starts to lighten up. (head shake) Thankfully I only had to call off one day of work, as Sunday I had already taken as a vacation day for the show and Tue/Wed are my 'weekend.' Fingers crossed this is on the way out, cause I am over it!

I had to delete my earlier reply; I suffered a seizure last night that mostly took me offline, and my answer on here was nearly unintelligible. On another note: did this micro-diorama using one of the 1/72 NASA Shuttle astronauts and some mat board: It's supposed to represent this photo, but I miscalculated on the earth's curvature :
sketchley Posted September 23 Posted September 23 2 hours ago, pengbuzz said: It's supposed to represent this photo, but I miscalculated on the earth's curvature : It's representative! The astronaut is just a bit higher in altitude, that's all. Maybe describe it as the astronaut is on a spacewalk during a Hubble repair mission?
Thom Posted September 23 Posted September 23 It looks good @pengbuzz. Clearly you are not a flat-earther! Good luck with the show.
Papa Rat Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) While I build sub assemblies, sort and sand the KOG I’m going to crack into this Dunbine box set I got off that Bandai site thing. Going to kick it off with Bozune. It has two runners and a small piece of ribbon. Really basic, I love basic. Hahaha. I’m very excited for this and I guess the KOG is going to be awesome too for different reasons. Sooooo shiny! Lol Edited September 23 by Papa Rat

Maybe describe it as the astronaut is on a spacewalk during a Hubble repair mission? Well, it's a historic scene from the 1980's, where astronaut Bruce McCandless III first tested the Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU) in space without any umbilical. So with that said, it's been disassembled while I sand down the horizon on the planet. 11 hours ago, Papa Rat said: Whoa. I hope you are ok. That sounds scary. It can be; I lose memory when it happens, and my poor wife has to deal with me losing consciousness and pretty much spasming like I just got electrocuted! It's a result of a TBI (traumatic brain injury) in 2007. A lot of folks say "you don't look or talk like you're brain damaged"; it largely depends upon what part of the brain was damaged. And they change their minds pretty quick if I end up having a seizure. There are still people who avoid me like the plague after they saw me have one.

They never looked as good as the artwork on the box though. I was on that site as well and it seems they have all three of the new hg dunbine colors available. Those are really fun quick kits. And a bit pricey, but super relaxing since they are stress free. I’m still hoping they update more of those cool bugs.

Might be a fun kit to bring with on a trip or build while chilling on the couch watching a movie. Edited September 24 by Papa Rat Spelling
