I remember it actually being a fairly cool kit other than the massive hands that you already replaced. I do kinda remember the long pegs at the shoulders being a bit weak and may end up needing a fix down the road if you’re not too careful. Can’t wait to see it finished

Just need to add the black paint layers, decals, and some small hand painted touch ups. I modified the way the legs attach behind the intakes by building up a severe angle”wedge” of pla to give it more of a wide angled stance. Hope it works out.

Ah crap man… that really sucks. I wish I could help you in any way.

Thanks; I appreciate it. The situation has improved, as we had to get legal help involved. I did manage to finally find the acrylic spheres I needed.

Note to anyone building the 22 inch cutaway: 30mm will be a near precise fit for the nacelles; you just need to give a swipe or two around the inside of the opening on the front of the warp nacelles with an xacto knife.

My big problem now is decals for this one; Round 2 is out, and I don't have the money for them anyways. I designed up a set in Photoshop to fit this model; I just need to ask a couple of folks here by PM if they could print it for me (11" x 8.5" ). If they can't, I'll have to check back in.

Meantime, I tossed the trillions of pieces that remained of my shuttle.  :( My heart just hurts right now....😭

The ARII 1/100 VF-1S is ready for action.
love this little fella. All these old kits just need a little love and patience.

@Gabe Q @nightmareB4macross @Big s hey, thanks. Monster is next up to bat

I’m really curious to see the Monster. I fell like out of the old school kits that that one may be one of the most challenging due to all the seams and the fit issues. Also to try and keep the lines even between the two halves may require some scribing skills.

@Papa Rat Man that little oldie turned out really nice!

Over here boring ordinance painting for the Strike Eagle 🦅 and Airwolf is coming right along! 😂

Thanks for the compliment.
That Airwolf is not boring at all. Excited to see it when you finish it up.

Looks like this guy is getting way more than a basic makeover.

Taking a break and remodeling the 25 year old PG for the 30th anniversary. Already did the Katoki styling so this one I'm using the HiRM as inspiration.

Yeah I’m going to add ball joints all around the kit and post updates as I dig in.

@Papa Rat You did such an incredible job on that kit! I've been apprehensive about giving one of those Arii Gerwalk kits a try but I think I might now!

You totally should!

Thanks so much. I’m new to model building and figure these older, affordable kits will be the best route to bust my chops and learn.

Nothing to it but to do it. 😊

*Just noticed your handle. Are you one of the WiseGuyHobbies, guys? I only bring it up since I bought that Super and many other kits from WGH off of EBAY. Always a good resource for these old kits.

For a newbie, you'd rock at some of the local shows here in the upper East Coast!

Indeed I am! I left some new comments on the GTC Legacy Thread. I have updates I'll be divulging and I'm trying to do more community outreach. Thanks for choosing us!

While the search continues for the right ball joints for my Monster build I did a quick test fit on this Seapig. The Wave, Ma.k. kit went together very well. It’s going to need lots of seam removal but the fit is very precise.

When it’s time to come back and work on this, the plan is doing the whole brush painted lacquer thing. Excited to try something new.

Those wave Ma.K kits go together fairly easily, even though they have seams here and there. I just wish they could’ve upgraded the joints by now to not be exposed polycaps. Those things really don’t like paint. Also make sure to have some thin wire and a small drill bit for the backs of the feet for those details there

Yeah I’m not sure if I will tackle the polycap parts like you said, paint is not its friend.
Also good call on the wire for feet. I totally didn’t realize it’s present in the official art and not the kit.

A friend of mine used Rit DyeMore dye for synthetics to dye his polycaps a darker color. Maybe that would work?

I think I just used a little pin vice hand drill and the smallest bit. Then just used some thin wire from bread wrap twit ties.

The colors are actually fine, usually just the grey that’s already required, but the polycaps can be a bit shiny and any weathering can easily rub off along with top coats. I’ve seen some people having a bit of luck with vinyl paints and plastidip, but others that tried the same stuff without much luck

Ah, I see. In that case: try rubbing the outside of the polycaps with #0000 grade steel wool. I used to have to do that for some of my Gundam models back in the day. That should dull them down and lighten them a little.
