kyekye Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 I just realized that the image links I've been using from flickr was limited to 1024 width!! - yeah... free account.. Let me see if this works better
Mechamaniac Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 This one is my favorite picture! Absolutely stunning work. I can't stress enough how awesome you are for not only having the balls to tear apart a $400.00 toy, but the skills, no....the MAD SKILLS to customize it and bring it to life like you did.
Negotiator Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Wow, spectacular and inspirational! I'll be using everyone's awesome customs as reference and continue to tweak mine, but I know it won't turn out as awesome as this.
kyekye Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks Everyone for kind comments Taking picture is harder and more time consuming than I thought! Many details I added just disappear when it's out of focus.. but it brings out the parts I overlooked when i was working on it... My friend told me to stop messing around with Photoshop and post raw pics..So here are some from last night ARMD-1 with Valkyries and Launch signal And.. what's where - since it's kinda blended in now From different angle City Block with different states
grapetang Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Holy crap!!! This is THE most amazing mod I've ever seen. Your attention to detail is amazing! Awesome work that's truly awe-inspiring! Congrats!!!
kyekye Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 This is the next greatest thing I've ever seen on Macrossworld. The first being your 1/2000 custom. Thanks, but 1 correction. The 1/2000 custom you are referring to, I believe, is done by Mr.'vf_1s' I didn't have luxury to own 1/2000 version... - way over my hobby budget
derex3592 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) nothing i can say here that hasn't already been said----simply astonishing work!!!!!!! Edited March 18, 2011 by derex3592
Vic Mancini Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Thanks, but 1 correction. The 1/2000 custom you are referring to, I believe, is done by Mr.'vf_1s' I didn't have luxury to own 1/2000 version... - way over my hobby budget And I actually can't decide which one I like better. Both are truly amazing.
kyekye Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Thanks everyone for following this thread and leaving kind comments. I really enjoyed the process of working on this one. I started around early January and took me about 2 1/2 month to finish it up Lastly, I ordered a plexiglass display case for this one - cost me about $70!! I'll conclude it with a bunch of 1920 X 1080 HD resolution wallpapers (some new, some cleaned up old ones, some raw images, some phtoshop-ed) ~~ Please enjoy~~ I might add some more pictures later when I get more familiar with my wife's camera.. I forgot to turn on the city light when took these photos.

Also please post some shots in clean lighting with a white background so we can see it in all its true glory since I can't just bug you to bring it in to work these days. - Nghia
gigawatt Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Awesome job man! I love those HD photos. Thanks alot.

Like I'll let you play with it!! I'll let you look at it when it's in the 'protective' plexiglass case! Anyways, I took a day off and borrowed some lights and also figured out more settings of the camera. ISO setting/ multi-focus setting/ smooth filter/ high-contrast settings..etc it was basically all WRONG!!! No wonder it came out all grainy and mush.. Anyways, here are some new raw shots with white background as you requested. Your Photoshop skills are better than mine, so go ahead and have fun with these! Also posting the image of city ceiling cover part I forgot to post.
eugimon Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 That's just all kinds of fantastic! Phenomenal work!
Dangard Ace Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Now that's awesome. Can I request that you take retake a shot of CruiserModeG but have the front prongs in sharp focus while the rest of the ship is blurry. It'll help with convey the illusion of depth. Like what you did with CruiserModeH.

Dangard Ace Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Yeah! Now that's what I'm talking about! Thanks! I might actually bust out the Photoshop again for some wallpaper goodness!
kyekye Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 Yeah! Now that's what I'm talking about! Thanks! I might actually bust out the Photoshop again for some wallpaper goodness! Haha I'm glad you like that shot! Have fun with Photoshop!
UN Spacy Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Calling it amazing would be an understatement. Simply breathtaking work kyekye. How many hours have you put into this labor of love.
Matrix Soul Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Holy mother of... dare I ask how much it would cost to commission you to do the same to mine?
kyekye Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 Calling it amazing would be an understatement. Simply breathtaking work kyekye. How many hours have you put into this labor of love. This one was surprisingly slow and long process (even for me). Started on Jan 10th and put in about average 4-5 hours (less on weekdays, more on weekends) - finished on March 13th. I would say,.. roughly about 200-250 hours of pure love and joy (and some frustration!! ) Holy mother of... dare I ask how much it would cost to commission you to do the same to mine? Doing this once was enough adventure for me
kyekye Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 I was wondering about the other spacecraft sizes, so I did some searching and made a quick chart last night. I didn't show Star trek or Star Wars ships since some of them are ridiculously huge! And apparently I had some of the ships in similar scale!! I thought the Aliens Sulaco and spaceship Yamato was much bigger. and I didn't know how big the Enterprise was!! Also, the display case came in yesterday. Here are quick test shots. And this is how it's gonna be for a while Lastly, here are the Background images I made for some of the photo-shoots and wallpapers earlier. (They are pretty big - 4560X3120, so re-size them for your print out if you want to use them)
wm cheng Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 WoW! Kye Kye... truely spectacular!! I go away on March Break vacation for a few days and you go ahead and finish this monster - way too go! It looks amazing. I gotta find the time to finish mine up. You should be proud. Keep em' coming - I can live vicariously through your builds ;-)
Renato Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I love this custom and I love this thread, especially the way you explain in detail each and every step. I think this should be on the front page of the main site.
Sebastian Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Amazing!!! I remember the old days, when I had the time to built Kits. It's being 3 years without building anything....
kyekye Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 Amazing!!! I remember the old days, when I had the time to built Kits. It's being 3 years without building anything.... Oh my.. 3 years!!?? That's not good for your health! You need some fume from glue and paint thinner!!
Kyp Durron Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 I have no words for this, I honestly cannot decide between this and the 1/2000 build by vf_1s. You guys are simply incredible. -Kyp
