Bishophal2000
Hi guys, I like this site a lot. I love modelling and I am also a very ardent fan of macross since my younger days as I cannot afford the kits until recently. That is why I developed my skills in scratch building in paper. Here is my first post with a progress build of the destroid spartan in large scale. Uploaded with ImageShack.us With large scale models cardboard was flimsy that they warp and not strong enough. I got thick cardboard but was hard to cut up. I decided to use foamboard as as sandwitch between the cardboard to get some strength as well as to reduce the overall weight. Made the one above but decided to do scale up to bigger scale instead

PetarB
Super awesome! You did pick, however one of the harder destroids to do, in terms of those damn hands! I can see they're going to be very finicky to do in card. Anyway, very cool to see.

Maiden Japan
Good job so far. I think the most part where you need to be careful is the shoulder, and hip joints.

Bishophal2000
Throughout the build I may have screwed up my scaling. I think It is 1/16. Making some of the missiles for the shoulder packs. Here is my initial test sample: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here now are what the final products will look like: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Note the conical section. Sanding it gives it a smoother contour: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Doing a test run of the overlay for the missile markings. Not much references about details on the markings. Made my own ideas. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us wIll further modify and test fit the final markings

MechTech
That is some awesome work! And yeah ,worth killing trees over :^) Building it in foam board, you might as well do it in plastic stock or Gatorboard which is styrene covered, then you could glue plastic bits to it. That IS HIUGE!!! Great work and what are you going to do with it when done? Scare away the neighborhood kids? Keep up the great work! - MT
