grss1982
I hope no one has noticed this yet The following were taken from vol.4 of macross zero: sorry about the bad quality pics, just bear with me (the ) for now Set 1: Set 2: In set 1, these are scenes where DD tells Roy that he has imrpoved and that as his instructor he is very proud of him or something to that effect. As you can see there is no gun pod on the VF-0S. But, in set 2, which happens a few seconds after this sequence, the VF-0s is clearly seen carrying a gunpod . IIRC this happened right after DD riddles with bullets the skull squadron logo on Roy's VF-0s. My question would be is that a boo-boo by the animators or what? promethuem5
Prolly a boo-boo.... that ir it's another case of phase-shift-matter building materials....like the second seat of the VF-1D when Hikaru saves Minmei

Mechamaniac
Could the fact that the last episode of Macross Zero was absolute crap be considered a discrepancy?
Graham
I think one of the biggest discrepancies is from episode 5, when Shin jetisons all the weapons and FAST packs from his VF-0A, so that APHOS/Sara will no longer consider him as a Kadun of war. Then seconds later we see the FAST packs back on the legs of the VF-0A again. Graham

Radd
In my (limited) exerperience, it seems to me that this is usually caused by different groups working on different segments of animation, or they finish up one segment, go home, then come in the next day to get back to work, and tend to forget the little things until it's too late. Little gaffs like these are generally more trouble than they are worth to fix. Even with CG you can't just alter a model or something and be good to go, it takes a long time to render out the animation, so if it's not caught very early on, you'll be adding days to the rendering time. wolfx
No screencaps..... Another animation error.... when Roy is refuelling, the refuelling plane blows up and drops the gunpod. As Roy dives to catch the gunpod, from fighter mode, the hands come up to catch it, without the legs coming out 1st beforehand. This is impossible for the VF-0 or even the VF-1. Watch it frame by frame, you see the legs drop for an instance then go back up. A VF-0/VF-1's legs don't need to drop all the way down to deploy the arms. Druna Skass
My question would be is that a boo-boo by the animators or what? Nah, it's not a mistake, the VF-0 is equipped with a Vector Trap.
Desram
I noticed one last night that may have been mentioned elsewhere... When roy is showing shin the vf-0d and shin asks for a one-seater. He's surpised when Edgar turns out to be alive, but edgar's name is clearly stenciled on the plane he was just staring at.
Radd
It just seemed to me that Shin assumed that the fighter was earmarked for him before his battle with Nora.
RichterX
In episode 3 after Focker rams the armored Battroid and lauches it missiles against Ivanov, the gunpod magically appear to shoot down the missiles that are coming back to him. The TV series and Plus(I think) did that frequently. It's called ye ol' anime magic. It's good to see that even in Zero, with all it's technical advances, it is still employed. grss1982
Also found another one guys, this time in episode 5, when shin locates the Anti-UN submarine using the vf-0's FLIR like unit or something, it is surrunded by what seems to be surface ships as he focuses his camera on the ship WTF!!!!! IIRC submarines dont have escorts, they operate alone right? And i also never heard of surface ships escorting a submarine into battle. Will provide pictures of what i'm talking about when i have the time.

Oh yeah regarding macross plus, i always did wonder where the hell did isamu hide that gunpod during the "battroid brawl". all i could se from my suck ass copy of macross plus was that he pulled the gunpod from underneath the shield. but if u think about it, its not even possible beacuse the shield is already crowded with spare ammo clips. And another thing, in the last part of plus, where isamu and guld does another batrroid brawl this time on earth, did you notice that as guld's yf-21 was lying on the ground after a double fisted punch by the isamu's yf-19 he magically pull out a gunpod from out of nowhere. The gunpod is stored behind the shied. I think the ammo clips are actually inside the shield... either that its just anime magic and he pulls them out of thin air. Well, if Isamu ran out of ammo after only using 1 magazine, then obviously, he wasn't carrying spare magazines and could, therefore, hold the gunpod beneath the shield. Watch it in slow-motion. The gunpod is there.
twich
Ummm....I know the YF-21 has 2 gunpods, but a few seconds earlier, Didnt Isamu make Guld lose the gunpod he was holding in the mecha's right hand, so he had to get the one on the left hand side of the mecha. I am curious as to why you felt you needed to make that distinction, but whatever makes you feel good..... Twich

While I agree that those mistakes shouldn't happen, even though they only happen a few seconds apart in the show there is no telling when they were animated. It is possible that these shots were animated months apart, and perhaps by different animators...

Twich I noticed azrael likes to reiterate and make certain distinctions about obvious things or when things have just been pointed out. Oh well, a few dozen confirmations could never hurt I guess. Watch it in slow-motion. The gunpod is there. Like this. Is it necessary to tell someone to watch it in slow motion when I posted... literally right before him screencaps of the scene? But yeah, whatever floats his boat. Like I said, a few minor corrections or a few dozen confirmations of the same thing cant hurt I guess. No harm done. Btw, yeah, a few seconds earlier Isamu actually punches OFF the YF-21's hand and Guld loses one of this gunpods. You are correct sir... Pow! Bye bye hand... Is it necessary to tell someone to watch it in slow motion when I posted... literally right before him screencaps of the scene? Yes. Because no one has posted the screencaps when I read the post. Pointing out the answer is one thing. Making the person look at it themselves adds a whole new layer of understanding. Hopefully, then, the person will start looking for more little details. RichterX
From M+ movie edition After Isamu wakes up from the dream/hypno thing from Sharon he smashes the control panel with his head.
