Hey All.

I was wondering if there are any information on the squadron Isamu is attached too during the very beginning of episode 1? Are there any furthur information on the "Eagles" or a squadron logo or what specifics or information on the socalled "special force" squadron that he was a part of?

I was just think they have really cool design and wanted to get some more in depth information on the squadron. Maybe some of you guys who owns the OVA and Movie M+ books can sheed some lights on my questions.

I don't think its a special force squad. most likely just a cannon fodder squad that was on patrol or sent on a search and destroy mission. Isamu personality type suggest he gets transfered to a lot of squads before he got shipped back to eden.

yeah, while isamu was reckless and didn't seem to mind endangering his own life he seemed to be pretty aware of his wingman and whether or not they were in danger...

if anything, I think he and max would have been in a friendly rival relationship.. each show boating, trying to get the most kills.

Space War 01 would be the perfect period for Isamu to be a pilot because of the fact that no matter how much he screwed around or endangered his fellow humans lives, the SDF-01's squadrons were so undermanned that they couldn't afford to discharge a pilot of his calibur.

Probably a low level assignment for screw ups escorting a scientific expedition, you know little chance of enemy activity allows the commanders to instill extra discipline. Instead they ran into some trouble and Isamu proved that while he is a reckless pain in the neck he is also a great combat pilot.

I don't know if I would call him great since he endangered his squadmates with that recklessness.

But he did take out 6 or 7 enemy Powered Armor all by himself in under one minute IIRC using only a gunpod and bayonet, no missiles. That makes him a pretty good combat pilot in my book.

I find Max and isamu to be very similar... in the series, max is often shown by himself gunning things down and show boating.. in one ep (sorry, I don't these things memorized) hiakru cautions kanzaki not to wast ammunition and max retorts, "is it okay if it is not a waste?" and the goes on to blow some stuff up.

It isn't until he and miria start flying together that you ever see him sticking with his wingman. At least isamu bothered to help his wingmates out.

How? By getting in the way of his firing zone...twice? And instead of just knocking the enemy off the other guy, he blows them up as his wingman barely gets out of the way. That may be good piloting, but that's reckless endangerment. When Max did his thing, his wingmen were not in his way. Max put the risk all on himself than to place it on himself and everyone around him.

max hardly put all the risk on himself. when he's out there flying around, not every enemy combatant is going to be gunning for him. So while max is out there being a genius, his wingmen have to fend for themselves.

So yes, waht isamu does is risky, he's at least covering his wingman.
