F-ZeroOne Posted August 26, 2004 Share Posted August 26, 2004 Zoids. Combining every kids two loves - dinosaurs and giant robots. Some of the newest stuff even looks quite tempting. Transformers, the original line, were the toy when I was younger, though from an adult perspective its easy to see where the faults are. I just can't get used to the new stuff, even though some of it looks quite interesting. Sorry. Takaras latest Micromen releases look incredible in pictures, and bring the original action figure line bang up to date. But I have a couple, and they do tend to have little niggles... And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the greatest action figure hero of the 70s and 80s - Action Man! Other than that my other favorite toylines are. C.O.P.S (Central Operations of Police Specialist): These toys were cool for one reason, guns compatible w/ caps! GoBots: They were cheap and thay became attack fodder and reinforcements for my TF's Air Raiders vs. The Tyrants of Wind: Small bellows used for missle launching and Metoid Prime esque Vehicles Starcom: Awesome looking ships/vehicles and figures w/ magnetic feet Takara Microman Material Force, Master Force: Man these figures has some excellent articulation that beats any current GiJoe RAH figure i.e. Snake Eyes and Duke. I currently own four Comic-con exclusives, Gatchaman Ken, and Automaster Ryan (green Microman w/ Tron 2.0 esque cycle) can't wait till there released widely in the US! Just a little correction Linda de Mol and Dj Kat (with a K? Yes!) were on Sky Channel during the weekdays the weekends was always the impossible choice: Do I watch Transformers on Fun Factory Sky Channel? Or do I watch Robotech on Superchannel? motley Posted August 26, 2004 Share Posted August 26, 2004 macross is a secondary focus in my toy collecting, mostly due to the limited merchandise, if there was more readily available, i'd buy it. gundam is my main focus, but my beat up old bandai joke machine is still my favorite toy of all time. for gundam its the gundam fix figuration line mostly, but i also have a ton of MSiA and a few models. i used to buy a lot of transformers, but the main lines suck so much right now that i'm only looking at binaltech, the wst microsized tfs, and a few of the japanese re-issues. and i'm planning to sell off a buch of my collection. specifically my collection is centered around giant robots and mecha in general, so i've also got some mazinger z, machine robo, zoids, and stuff from assorted other lines, depending on what catches my eye and what i can pretend to afford. Isamu Atreides 86 Posted August 26, 2004 Share Posted August 26, 2004 (edited) I'd have to say for me its the Marvel Legends line from Toy Biz. now it is true, they make some truly attrocious women figures (elektra), i absolutely love my Rogue figure. wide variety of characters and posability. of course any time rogue and remy are made into toys, they are my favorites! I don't know if they are toys, but i love my collection of William Britain metal soldiers. i have loads of them, from all Eras, but mostly the American Civil War. now THAT is a pretty expensive hobby. Anyway I'm a G1, BT and Masterpiece transformer fan myself. All other TFer lines can rot in hell for all I care after TFers any well made mecha toy is up for grabs. Alternators are cool, and there are a couple I'm looking forward too, but I've always enjoyed smaller toys. (Banny Valks rule!) I've also found that the ones that can be transformed quicker, are more fun to mess with. I'm happy to see a few vehicles in the Energon line that look like they could exist, even if they aren't straight translations of real vehicles. Shame that I missed RID. And now Macross, only this low cuz of price and quantity Then prolly Legos, still fun at times....and Gundam is starting to appeal to me....I really want a perfect grade Wing Zero, but i just spent a crapload on my 1/48 DYRL Fps and stickers, and preordered the Yammi Monster from BBTS.... Still remember digging trenches with my friends and setting the Joes up for incoming Cobra forces. 2. Transformers - (G1) love these guys, this was a good indoor toy. Found myself transforming and looking at these more than actually playing with. 3. Voltron - (Lions and vehicles) love the size of these guys and that weighty feel. Again not much playing with them. MASK, Wheeled Warriors, He-Man, Thundercats, Go-Bots, Robotech, Star Wars - man I had all these things. Glad I kept all these toys and have a lot of the boxes they came in. You know, kinda like a cross between a plastic Erector set and Legos with octagonal connection points. They also had electric motors for making toys with motion and had G.I. Joe-sized action figures. Each set had all the stuff to make several different vehicles, weapons, etc. If you had them all, you could make some pretty crazy stuff. Outta all the toys I had as a kid that was the most played with toy EVAR. I love that thing. Next to that it would be GI Joe. I wish I was a kid in the late eightys early nineties. I remember my aunt sending me my first kit, the Expert Builder (predecessor to Technic or whatever they call it now) GoKart kit back in the mid-late '70s at age seven or eight. The holy grail back then was the Auto Chassis kit with piston engine and full suspension, which took me a few years to lay my hands on. I also fondly remember my old Expert Builder Helicopter kit with geared rotor/stabilizer and retractable landing gear. While all the other kids were screwing around with the inferior castle and space legos, I was building whacked out mechanical contraptions of my own design, like 4-speed crank [and later, electric motor] operated gearboxes and differentials, often integrating them with more static toys and models. I actually won a high school science fair for an older sibling with one of these machines. Man, I wish I still had some of that stuff... DC Direct is coming out with all the Microman Batman figs! -Flightpack Batman -Regular Batman -Batgirl and Catwoman (Microlady Bodies of course ) I believe as of July Takara is working out a deal with DC and they should be available on the DC website in Fall/Winter 04'. Later came Macross as the local weekly street market sold the kits which I, with no real knowledge of model kit building had built some fugly models of a hangar, Gerwalk VF-1A, a Regult and played with them. I'd lost them after moving to another home, one of them was the general of my toy-nation (against my brother's) Grimlock. Loved the 3 3/4 figures and, more importantly, all the vehicles, fighters, bases, etc. Other than that, didn't get into much else as a kid except the Thundercats stuff. As an adult, I'm pretty much limiting myself to transformable stuff which mostly means Transformers and Robotech, though not exclusively those two. Transformers G1 reissues. I still my old one lying around. Macross of course. Even better now. Never collected Starcom but they were cool. I liked the cartoon as well. The were only 2 factions in the series. I think one side had their vehicles in a sand like color. The other one is greyish IIRC. Show was never aired BTW.
