All Things Video Games Thread: II
renegadeleader1 replied to Wanzerfan's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I picked up Soul Calibur V.... AVOID BUYING THIS IF YOU MOSTLY PLAY SINGLE PLAYER!!! -There is only story mode for one character and one character only, Patroklos Sophitia's son -No character has a story or ending in arcade mode -You can't change the number of rounds you fight you are stuck at 3 -Legendary Souls mode is essentially simulated online play against random create-a-jabroni's -fewer characters than previous Soul games -Dampierre DLC character already on disk, and is stupid and useless The good things... +fairly deep create a character +Ezio from Assassin's Creed is it This game is definatly not worth $60 bucks, barely even worth $20 it feels like a rushed incomplete tech demo, and this game wasn't even released in the holiday season! -

I started watching Redline and the best way to describe it would be Rock n' Roll Racing from the snes meets Aeon Flux/that scene in Beavis and Butthead do america where they trip out on acid shrooms. Basically AWESOME!!! -
Shaorin don't be so hard on yourself both those sketches are adorable not "crappy". Especially the purple haired one in white lace!

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

Thanks, but no thanks Gubaba....wise ass. I did find out what the first one was after checking the wikipedia of all anime in the 1980's. Its called Sea Prince and the Fire Child. I doubt I'll ever find out what the mecha anime is since so many 80s super robots look so much alike. -
What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

Hey guys I don't know where else to ask this but I need help identifying a couple of anime I saw that was released on vhs tape in the usa back in the mid to late 80s. They've been floating around in my head for the longest time and its bugged me to the point I have to ask what they are. 1. The first is what can best be described as a romeo and juliet story involving undersea merpeople. I remember the main character had a sidekick that might have been his brother that was red colored and might have died tragically. There also might have been something about a broken horn, but the memory is very vague it might have been what caused the sidekicks death. This I believe was a feature length film. 2. The second is a mecha anime with a plot similar to the fantastic voyage where a robot gets shruken down and sent inside a human body to kill a disease. I remember a little black robot initially piloting the larger one, a transformation sequence, a giant octopus monster the main bad guy fed his slaves to, and a type of micro society of microscopic people that the human body is made up of. This might have been one episode of a longer series. -

Just watched Castle In The Sky (Laputa) and to be honest I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as some of the other ghibli films likeCastle of Cagliostro, Porco Rosso, or Spirited Away. -

They look like mutant ducks crossbreed dolphins, a duckphin if you will. -
So from everything I've gathered it comes down to this... Toynami/Aoshima- good toy brought down by poor construction/quality control and poor choice of material for hands. Looks great. CMs- creative license with design, lacks posibility in areas, poor tread connection. Unpainted metal parts. Great duribility. Wave- model kit, non transformable, unpainted. Looks great in the hands of an expert modeller. Gakken- great toy, durable except for attenae, old, hard to find, and expensive. My question is with all the master modellers here why hasn't anyone opened up shop tuning the toynami's, fixing the bad construction and creating replacement hands? I'm willing to bet a killing could be made.

Not sure what you mean by that, but Dai-guard was first released in 1999-2000. -

Okay maybe I had it wrong. I always thought he did some sketches for the queen and did nothing for 3. -

Its not a parody, as Daiguard is played rather seriously, and the show brings real world physics to the super robot genre. The pilots aren't reckless as they are more clumsy and unskilled in the beginning. Trust me the pilots do give a damn about the damage they cause, and several episodes deal with the aftermath of their actions and the relief efforts they undertake. You really are doing yourself a diservice by only watching "clips" and not watching it in its entirety. -
Its hard for me to watch trailers on my cell. Still good to see the tradition is still going...

He did a lot of work on the first, helped stan winston little bit in. the second mostly with the queens design, got bitter after that and did nothing for the third, fourth, or avp ones. Prometheus is his return to the series. Funny thing about the hybrid is the froggie surealist director of resurrection thought it would be a good idea to attach both sets of genetalia which Fox spent almost a million editing out of the film. Its actually not that far off of Giger's ideas considering the xenomorphs phallic head, the business end of the hugger looks like a vagina, and the first film is all about male rape and pregnancy... thanks for the thought O'bannon -
Will there be space nazi babes? If wolfenstein, bloodrayne, indiana jones, and hellboy has taught us anything its that any sci-fi/fantasy involving nazis must have nazi babes.

I dunno, maybe we should ask Joe Madureira, it took him 4 years to write just 9 issues of his battle chasers comic and that was last seen in 2001 and still unfinished.- 1590 replies

Finished Sacred Blacksmith, and all I can say is I need more. This current trend of series that just stop instead of actually having an end is annoying. Still, I enjoyed it a lot. The whole demonsword concept is refreshing. Sure there have been living swords before but, none that I can recall transforming to human and back at will. Also finished Mazinkaiser SKL and I didn't like it as much as the first Mazinkaiser. Kinda like how I prefer 80s hair rock to 90's deathmetal which the two series seem to represent. -

Wasn't toynami's sue graham shadow fighter version the only one that didn't have the hand problem? Mostly because the hands were claws, not actual hands?

Finished Samurai girls. Currently splitting time between Sacred Blacksmith and the Original Dirty Pair tv series. I got a lot on my plate right now, and it really doesn't seem like I have enough time. After these two I think I'll start Blassreiter or Full Metal Panic the second raid. I also have Air Gear and some other anime I still haven't finished like Suzuka that I picked up at last years anime boston. I am so depressed with the feeling I may never finish watching everything I own.
