  1. This is awesome! I decided to look up the Skyray and the Fighting Falcon to see if anyone was behind both projects and I came up with Ed Heinemann. He was the guy that designed the Skyray(won an award for it) for Douglas and was the VP of engineering for General Dynamics where his last project was overseeing the F-16 prior to his retirement. There is definatly his handprint on both planes. He also has quite the resume... SBD Dauntless dive bomber A-20 Havoc light bomber/attack aircraft A-26 Invader light bomber/attack aircraft A-1 Skyraider attack aircraft A-3 Skywarrior bomber A-4 Skyhawk light bomber F3D Skyknight night fighter F4D Skyray carrier-based fighter aircraft As for what I'd like to see from a Vietnam era Ace Combat, I would love to see a couple of missions based around the FAC/SAR/ close air support, as an excuse to fly an OV-10 bronco or an A-1 skyraider. More flak and ground fire too, sometimes it seems a little too safe flying into the enemies fortified capital.
  2. Yeah thats from a very early O'bannan(I think it was him) treatment that got axed under the belief it was too expensive for SFX/sets to do. Parts of the idea later were used in the first AVP film.
  3. Personally I wouldn't want the F-3 Demon anywhere near an ace combat game unless I was trying to get myself killed in that underpowered POS deathtrap. The only good thing about is that it became a stepping stone to the Phantom. The skyray on the other hand is a great little plane, and I swear after being able to get up close and personal with one and the new england air museum, that who ever designed the F-16's airframe had that plane in mind.
  4. The setting of this movie is only supposed to be 80 years before "alien". As for wether humans should already have the bio technology do you really expect any of the humans to survive to make it back? Maybe a radio message describing what happened, butI wouldn't be surprised if this movie ends with everyone going back to their cryopods only to have some poor sap that got hugged earlier in the movie gets busted. Finally I just wanted to add Ridley Scott is THE THE ORIGINAL F'ING SOURCE MATERIAL! EDIT: as to fossilization we don't even know if thats the actual space jockey or just part of the ship/spacesuit.
  5. I found this on youtube and figured you guys might get a kick out of it.
  6. Well I can't read japanese, but MAGNOS!!!! The only super robot handi-capable with a built in wheelchair! I remember the first time I saw this at the bad anime bad panel at anime boston. It has the most convoluted transformation sequence of any super robot. Fall down tube clothes transform, land in figher plane that launches seperately from smaller robot, enter said smaller robot with fighter plane through its butt, join together with partners smaller robot to create medium robot, eject from said medium robot and wait for other modules to launch, when said modules launch grab parter and spin in circles to form belt buckle, attach to said modules and hang in air, form Magnos and wait for said medium robot to split to smaller robots from earlier to form rockets to aid flight since the big robot can't fly on its own, finally activate wheelchair since Magnos can't run for more than five minutes without burning out the leg motors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTtMnP147BU
  7. I wouldn't watch that if you want mecha action. For the most part only the first 10 min of the movie is mecha action. Then it goes all Law & Order type drama.
  8. You have to understand Bay got his start shooting several playboy videos (he will only admit to one which he was stupid enough to use his real name on) he also directed music videos like the divinyls "I touch myself"... so um yeah...
  9. I'm curious was there ever backlash agaisnt this or the rebirth movie because japanese fans feel that Matsumoto is the real creator of yamato and not Nishizaki like the courts decided?
  10. Gundam the origin Is the equivilent of the lord of the rings movies. It remains faithful to the source material, while adding things and smoothing out the pacing. EDIT: As for continuity who can say yet. There are somethings that are different like the order in which the battles occur (jaburo first then odessa) and the route the white base takes to get to Jaburo in the first place.
  11. Just curious is anybody here willing to do a custom paint job for pay? I have an HGUC MS-06S char's custom Zaku that I need painted in black and gold to become a "Chara custom" in honor of the Boston Bruins winning the Stanley Cup. To put in plainly I suck at painting no matter how hard I try and this would mean a lot to me. EDIT: Zdeno Chara is the captain of the Boston Bruins.
  12. Looks less like Digimon and a little closer to Leiji Matsumoto.
  13. To be honest I really can't stand the films final message about "bad things happen and its nobody's fault." I haven't seen such a display of blind moronic optimisim since reading voltaire's candide in school. Thinking it over this comment from that review I posted fits my feelings best We really wanted to like “Super 8,” but as we said, it’s a MIRAGE, an ILLUSION of the movies we all grew up with and love. Abrams masterfully used IMPRINTING to give the illusion that you were watching a Spielberg movie. There were imprints of E.T.. Goonies, and Close Encounters throughout the movie, so if you’ve seen those movies, it activates good memories buried in your brain. It’s a good movie by ASSOCIATION, not by any actual merit.
  14. I am so putting WWII style bomb bay doors on that thing!
  15. Thanks to netflix I've begun watching some older anime starting with the original Dangaioh release from manga entertainmant. WORST AMERICAN RELEASE EVER!!! Horribly painful dub only, no subtitles, poor picture quality, and the first episode is missing replaced by a 10 min prolog that is impossible to follow. As for the show itself its okay. The fighters that make up Dangaioh look like underdeveloped valkyrie fetuses(Kawamori was the mech designer). The robot itself looks like someone just removed all the armor plates from Mazinger and called it a new robot. The character designs are definately what to expect from the classic 80s. I liked how the pilots themselves each had unique abilities almost to the point of me thinking this must be x-men meets getter robo. Also as far as endings go this one is pretty unique. I'm used to downer melancholy endings but... To be honest I have to say I enjoyed Great Dangaioh alot better, even though it has 99.9% nothing to do with this show untill the last two episodes!!!
  16. I just watched this along with super 8, and I have to say it was a very enjoyable movie. My only grip is that it would have been a heck of movie even if it just focused on Magneto and his quest for revenge. As for it being a reboot I'm not 100% certain on it. If anything it might fit into continuity with just the first X-men movie and the rest of the series(II, III, origins) will be retconned.
  17. Well guys I just got back from watching it, and I can't say I cared for it. Much of what I felt is summed up here http://theauditorz.wordpress.com/2011/06/11/why-we-h8te-super-8/ Warning there are spoilers so don't look if you plan on seeing it. Then again I really wouldn't recommend seeing it.
  18. Yeah she was a pale skinned redhead in the first starcraft. After she became a hybrid in brood war her skin darkened and she grew those dreadlock style things from her head that are actually a weapon. She's not 100% human yet. EDIT: according to the official site that female zerg thing is called Izsha. Apparently it was created as a sort of living hard drive Kerrigan stored her thoughts and plans on. Taking that into consideration Izsha is either going to backstab Kerrigan when she doesn't do something the queen of blades would have done or act like a little evil conscience and whisper "kill everyone" to kerrigan when ever she gets a chance.
