    This had nothing to with Hollywood and Western society. The blame falls squarely on Sunrise and Bandai of Japan deciding to hire a bunch of Canadians who had never done anything outside of cheesy scifi tv shows like Mutant X rather than approach a big name studio. They got what they paid for.

    I own the standard colors version of that Kanu Unchou figure, along with several other figures of hers. My fav is one of her in a racing swimsuit.

    They were a modest success, considered trashy and rather controversial due to content at the time. It really wasn't untill JFK mentioned in an interview that he was a fan that their sales took off. This paved the way for Dr. No to be filmed.

    To be fare I've my opposite opinion just about as long as you have had yours. I'm sorry, but even as a stand alone espionage film its bad. The plot of the main bad guy sterilizing the world food supply so he can blackmail the government into letting him retire as nobility is dumb. The main actor is uncharasmatic, wooden, and rather sleazy. The female lead is the only one taking the film seriously. Telly savalas? As european nobility? God no! The subplot of the Mob father essentially selling off his daughter because she is a psychob**** is dumb. The main romance is ugly and forced. All the action scenes use speed up film making it look like stop motion. The fight in the cable car shaft is horrible with the main actor and stuntman visibly mouth to each other what type of punch they are going to throw. The doctors office scene ends stupidly where he goes through the effort of making it look like he wasn't there then takes a playboy mag with him pausing several times to view the centerfold. Is this a parody now? There's is no way I can take the ending seriously with the main baddie while doing 80mph on a bobsled gets his neck snapped in strong tree branches and is left hanging there only to pull off a drive by a short time later.

    Did some black Friday shopping and picked up several things. Transformers Super God Master Force, Cowboy Bebop Movie, Horizon In The Middle Of Nowhere, and Strike Witches season 2. The first episode of Horizon was odd, filled with fanservice, and down right crazy yet it was still hilarious and entertaining. I like how the main character is something of an unrepentant pervert bastard. Starting watching Masterforce too as I write this. It looks promising and you can really tell its starting to deviate away into something wholly japanese. While Headmasters kept the western gijoe character style that's been replaced with typical anime flare and design. I also find the plot interesting as it brings it closer to what the original diaclone toys were. Robots piloted by humans. Oh damn! Not five minutes in the first episode, the decepticons just blew up a cruise ship killing hundreds to draw out an autobot pretender. I take it the body count is gonna be high in this?

    I'm sorry but I have to disagree. What a movie "could" have been does not make what we actually got good.

    Man those EW lists are complete crap. Lotta Lenya's Rosa Kleb as one of the best Bond Girls??? Really??? No way Carrie Lowell is among the worst. How the hell does A View To A Kill outrank Dr. No? Anybody else getting tired of people ranking On Her Majesty's Secret Service so high on lists? Its just not that good in acting, special effects, fight scenes, or plot.

    Well its been no secret he's been pushing for homoerotic content since he was chosen as Bond, but this film also embodies his anti gun feelings that "only cowards use guns" and how he is constantly disposing of his PPK through the whole film.

    I saw it. Thought it was okay, but I'm getting tired of Daniel Craig inserting his own damn personal and political views in his Bond films.

    I always wanted the Masume Shirow S.S.A.T. figure to go with my Shirow Beagle Space Pirate, but now I can't find it for anything less than 400. And that's for a PVC figure people.

    Its garbage. The thing you posted says its an anime news network article, but the last time ANN mentioned Robotech in news was the Agrama conviction. I don't think this is the first time I've seen this rumor.

    You know, I find myself agreeing with you more and more lately. I personally think Machete would have been an awesome movie if they never went with the white man immigration cheesefest and just focused on him staying in Mexico getting revenge on the cartel that tried to kill him punisher style. Hell that priest assassin novella thing on King of the Hill would have made a better movie than Machete.

    The change was done to invoke thoughts of the U.S. carrier fleet from WWII(only this time Japan wins!!!), and that ship design isn't base on the JU-87 Stuka, but the U.S. TBM/TBF Avenger torpedo bomber that had a role in sinking the original IJN Yamato.

    I'm trying to get Discotek Media to get the rights to it. Odds are pretty good for it considering they just liscensed the original Mazinger series. Feel free to drop by their facebook page to lend another voice to the cause. They actually seem to listen to requests which is why we got Madbull 34 and Venus Wars dvds.
