  1. Sure about that? http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=8451&hl=
  2. My Super-O from Valkyrie Exchange should be here tomorrow or the next day, along with my Millia Q-Rau. Can't wait, though they'll be back in their boxes soon, because I'm moving to a new and better apartment in 7 weeks. Anyways, anyone know of a good place to nab a 1/60 Elintseeker? Valk Exchange doesn't seem to have them, neither does HLJ.
  3. Did Japanese Transformers keep the same names as their Diaclone/Microman counterparts? Because as a show, Transformers was an American creation made to sell the toys Hasbro had licensed.
  4. I would also reccomend picking up the HK bootlegs, but I would suggest watching a well translated fansub first. The FX set is nicely done for a bootleg, but a first time M7 viewer would miss a lot of vital information due to mistranslations in the DVD subtitles, not to mention a few character names in the tv series, and nearly every name in the Dynamite OVA. Once you've seen the series, then if you enjoy it the FX DVD set offers excellent video and sound quality, as well as a few nifty extras.
  5. There's not many people asking for the cost of tapes and shipping in return for fansubs these days, it's usually just easier to download them off the internet. Central Anime's fansubs are pretty good, but the download takes forever since not many people in the internet fansub community are into the show.
  6. With a hands on inspection, the exterior of the boxes look like they were printed using a $50-80 home use inkjet printer. Both Harmony Gold and Toynami have also been using way oversaturated colours for their Robotech merchandise, making them look cheap and the artwork amaturish. You give the boxes too much credit, but I think you're spot on with the worth of the toys themselves. They don't look like terrible toys, but for 80 bucks I can get a much better toy of the same thing. For the amount they want for an MPC with FAST packs, I can get a 1/48th scale Yamato Valkyrie, and possibly even have enough left over for coffee at Denny's.
  7. From the pictures I've seen they just didn't look that impressive. I also don't have any of the MPC Alphas because they just seem overpriced to me at 80 bucks a pop. No bias against Toynami as far as they're concerned, either. No one else is making a better product, it's just a little beyond what I'm willing to pay. On top of that, I'm one of the few people that really dislikes the MPC boxes, to me they're just gaudy looking, and if I did get any MPCs they'd be out of the box, and the box would wind up in my closet somewhere waiting until I had to pack all my stuff up to move again. All that leaves me with no reason to shell out for the book ends.
  8. I believe there are two or more instances in SDF Macross where you see a VF-1D in roles other than training. I'm pretty certain one of those is the episode where the Macross lands on Mars.
  9. The next gen Gameboy has me more excited than the PSP or the DS already. The low-low price point makes me wonder, though.
  10. Definitely seems my Walmart has stopped carrying Alternators altogther, wich is strange since they sold so quickly whenever they did have any in. Stopped by Toys 'r Us and their Transformers section has been scaled back by a lot. They only had a single, sad looking Silverstreek. Target still has a small selection of Sideswipes and Silverstreek's, but has never had anything else. Looks like if I get them anywhere, it's going to be the internet from now on. I haven't gotten a single Alternator since Grimlock!
  11. Picked up a Millia Q-Rau and a 1/60 Super-O today. Can't wait for them to arrive. I'm thinking that the next time I have the money (wich won't be until sometime after I move in April), I'm going to track down an Elintseeker, and the Max and Millia 1/48 VF-1J toys. Maybe even a 1/60 Strike and GBP. So many Valkyries I don't have. Utnil I can't find anything I'm looking for anymore, or they go beyond the price range I'm willing to pay, I don't think I'll be hurting for Macross toys for quite a while, even if Yamato stops releasing Macross stuff altogether. Still, I'd like to see more from them, especially VF-X series toys like the Konig.
  12. There's several movies on that list that I recall liking, some of them I recall liking quite a bit. Of course, I haven't seen many of them since I was still in my teenage years. I think any adaptation is going to be met with those fans of the original material that hate it, regardless of how good it is as a movie, since it will almost certainly be at odds with the original material. That said, I hope nobody paid to see Son of the Mask. It looks absolutely wretched. I hate to form opinions of a movie before I've seen it, but I've not seen one thing about this movie that looks even remotely interesting, and plenty that makes me wish there was a hardbound collection of Mask comics so that I could beat those responsible for this filth to death with it.
  13. Nabbed the trailer for a look-see, and have to say I'm somewhat impressed. The CG looks terrible, but I expected that, and the animation looks wretched wich was, again, expected. The characters don't look all that visually interesting, but at the same time they do retain the look I recall from the old Garry Anderson shows, not the marionette look, but rather the basic designs of the characters. The way the trailer was put together made it look dark and suspenseful, I'll be sorely dissapointed if the show doesn't live up to that much. I got a smile out of the 'Made in Hypermarionettevision' because it's really true, CG animation does have more in common with puppets than it does with hand drawn 2D animation.
  14. Glen Murakami, the producer and head animator, said Furi Kuri was an inspiration for the Teen Titans show. Fixed!
  15. Wich ill-formed arguments? People here have been saying that they simply do not believe CDs are worth the prices being asked.
  16. I do agree with part of what you're saying, MSW. If you don't like the price, then don't buy it. I, myself, reserve my money for those things I truly do want, and like to support. I don't like the prices being charged for audio CDs, and so my purchases of those items are far and few between, when I buy any at all. I also don't like the DVD prices in Japan. I don't want to pay $50 for a single episode of an OVA. So I don't buy anime from Japan, except in those rare cases where it's something I really want to support and cannot get any other way. If Geneon, ADV, and the rest charged those prices domestically, I wouldn't buy anime DVDs here in America, either.
  17. Then buy BLANK CDs! How many movies do you think would get made if film budgets only covered the cost of the filmstock? -zero!- So yeah, maybe a film made back all its money in the theater, maybe even earned a decent profit too...So why is it so frickkin hard to understand when they go to sell the DVD that they want to make some money off it at the same time the Walmarts, Best Buys, K-Marts, Suncoasts of the world are profiting from thier work? Why is that such an evil thing? Hell, Macross made back its money and then some in Japan...and for a small in comparison one time fee Harmony Gold has been exclusively makeing a fortune off Shoji and company's work...and we all bitch about that! You're missing the point. Do you even know how much it costs to buy a CD in stores these days? Do you know how many they sell? Do you know how much of that goes to the actual creators of the music, while how much is kept by the record labels. I've nothing against profit. They are welcome to profit from their work, but many people are not going to pay for something they do not see as worth the price, especially when that price is so inflated from the cost to produce not just the CDs themselves, but recording the music, promotion, and all that. What if the price of pizza was artificially inflated to $50 for a small pizza? Wouldn't you be less inclined to order pizza? What if you had to pay double or triple the current price of paperback books? You like paying 15 bucks for a single issue of a comic book?
  18. And all that work to make CDs drives them up to an astounding orice of about a buck a piece, if you buy them in 50 packs. Pennies a piece at the bulk rate record labels produce them at. Not to mention there are other, superior media out there that have either not caught on, or never given the proper chance to. I'm sorry, but I just do not buy the story that the RIAA has been playing nice with their customers by keeping CD prices down. The cost to produce CDs has gone down, as the process to make them has been refined and become more common. Technology always goes down in price with time. It's the nature of the beast. CDs, however, have been kept artificially inflated.
  19. I agree with the sentiments already posted, it looks much better than the cheap red plastic look. I might just nab another to try my own hand at.
  20. Most animation fans really aren't fans of rotoscoping, for reasons that should be obvious. I'm even less impressed by what I see in this trailer. I mean, it could be interesting for a short while, but a whole movie? Not to mention, A Scanner Darkly is a dark and gritty sort of story, much like all of Dick's works, and this comes off as looking bright, shiney, and plastic looking.
  21. Knowing what Lupin's Japanese voice sounds like, and hearing the dub give him the stereotypical American "hero" voice (something wich does not suit him at all) I cannot agree to the Castle Cagliostro dub, and the word "best" being in the same sentence.
  22. I'll be able to afford the alcohol to drown my sorrows in! Actually, if Macross toys stopped coming, I might go after some I've passed up along the way, or just put all my money into savings, like I did before all these incredible toys started showing up.
  23. I'll still give it a chance, but I have to say I'm not very impressed so far. Still, it doesn't look as bad as I feared. That's something, right?
  24. I haven't put any stickers on mine yet, either. I'm waiting for an excellent fanmade sticker set. I might cave in and use some from my Takatoys 1/48 sticker sets and make my own 'eye' stickers if that doesn't happen.
