  1. Many of the things that happened are explained in the game, by the characters themselves through dialogue. The Zack/Cloud story is the only story that does not seem to be contradicted by events or dialogue in the game, and combined with the fact that like most every character in the game has their backstory explained in a sidequest, is enough indication to me that it was the actual events. I guess we will just have to disagree in that I do not think storytellers need to take you by the hand and walk you through the story, clearly explaining everything in detail. I think enough was provided to the player to make an informed decision on what happened, and I tend to enjoy stories that do so. Also, as I said, some of the most contended plot points in FF7 were clearly explained during the game, just not when the event happened. Many seem to overlook that. I do, however, agree with you on FF7's claim to fame. I think half the gaming public tends to strongly overrate it.
  2. No non-value pack release, or did they just decide not to mention it in this article? At this point in time I'm going to assume the latter, because the former seems a lot like Sony shooting themselves in the foot. Several times. Reloading at regular intervals.
  3. On these boards I've seen lots of people quote Kawamori as saying that the actual events of SWI are somewhere between the tv series and the movie.
  4. I like the Senate scenes.
  5. Great story?!?!?! FF7 was plotholes and duct tape. The story was a disaster. Examples?
  6. Unfortunately, I'm no good with models, worse so with resin models. Definitely keep us posted with more of those differences, and photos would be appreciated when you have the time. The nose/crotch of the Konig, and the lack of the turret are my least favourite parts about the toy.
  7. They show lots of Flashbacks to Space War I that are supposedly not from the Macross universe version of DYRL? but seem to be a meld of DYRL? and SDF events.
  8. That's not to say I'm not interested, or won't see it. I definitely will see it and I withold any judgement until that time. Other than that it certainly looks pretty. I still wish they'd go with more Amano-esqu designs if they were so eager to make a Final Fantasy based movie. Although no longer technically the best, the FFVI cinema sequences made for the PSX release are some of the nicest looking renderings to come out of Square. This is Radd's sleep deprived ramblings.
  9. I think highly of FF7, but not very highly of Squeenix these days. The movie looks pretty, but I can't help but think they're milking 7 for all it's worth and then some, and rewriting what was a great story to make room to do so.
  10. Spectacular, certainly the nicest custom I've seen in a while. My only complaints would be the "identity crisis" others have pointed out in your squadron markings, and on a more personal level I'd probably have done up a squadron other than Skull to give it more personality than simply alternate-universe Skull squadron. Top notch work, though I look forward to seeing more.
  11. 20 years later they have more realistic prosthetic limbs?
  12. I really dig the background music from Macross II the most, same guy that composed the Tenchi score from what I understand. The pop music is a guilty pleasure, but I enjoy it. I never cared for any of the MII mech designs, but this thing makes even the most bland design from the OVA look like a work of genius. Definitely interesting though, thanks for sharing wolframbane. I didn't know that the Micron Conspiracy was made by Viz for U.S. consumption. Of course, I'd only ever seen issues of it in passing.
  13. I have to add that I'm loving my Konig more and more. It's by far my favourite non-1/48th toy to date. If they did one up in the black and red paintscheme I'd definitely pick it up. In the meantime, I'm eyeing those Q-Raus. I'm digging the diversity my Macross collection is gaining. I'm even digging the idea of picking up some more Macross 7 toys, if I can find a V-17D, and a VF-19F and S for cheap.

    Diaclone SDF?

It looks like the Matchbox SDF-1 toy wich I forget if they got that from Takatoku or Bandai, it's a decent toy. I thoroughly enjoyed mine (before it broke *sob*) but I wouldn't pay $500 for one.
  15. I haven't been an animation student since 2000-2001, I've graduated to being an ex-animation student that can't find work. The school I went to wasn't all that worthwhile, either. They wouldn't always give the anime club a television set and VCR for the evening, and several staff members were trying to get the club shut down.
  16. I have watched Azumanga Daioh on that kinda setup! And Macross Zero, and GitS:SAC, and Last Exile, and... It's nice to have friends with cushy, University programmer jobs.
  17. Just last night I was thinking that I really needed to get my old SDF-1 toy that a friend was holding onto for me, and see about getting it fixed (the shoulder piece somehow broke from the rest of the ship coincidentally enough at about the same moment in time that an acquaintance of mine became dead to me). If I can get it fixed, it will look most excellent as a centerpiece to my collection.
  18. My understanding is the rising bidding wars over popular titles is driving prices up, but it's also what's fueling the anime industry in Japan, wich makes more money licensing anime to countries like the United States than they make domestically.
  19. I'm glad there's games you like coming out on the PSP, but unfortunately they're not games that really grab my attention. Even more unfortunate is that I totally agree with you on the DS. So, at this point neither system particularly grabs me. The only two games I've seen that I really want are Mario 64 and Advance Wars DS. Moreso Advance Wars, my favourite GBA franchise. Still, those two games aren't going to sell me on the DS alone. I'll be holding onto my GBA (still plenty of excellent looking GBA titles I haven't had time to play yet) until one or the other new handheld garners a decent library.
  20. That would be An Angel's Paint, a most excellent song. Though I should possibly be more honest, while it is my favourite song the Dogfighter theme music from the original tv series, and the even better versions that were among the DYRL? background score, is the music I most associate with Macross, followed by Do You Remember Love? The Soundtrack to Zero has also been growing on me more and more. I used to think it was forgettable at best, but now some of the music from it is among my favourites.
  21. Lol... I watched the movie and it hasn't got the slightest resemblance with mario world. Take a body of a man and put a 1:1 scale snake head on it... how cheap Yet Miyamoto co-wrote the movie. I actually enjoyed it, probably because it was so different from the typical Mario world, yet bore a twisted "Through the Looking Glass" type resemblence to it. Plus it was a lot of fun, you could tell the actors were having a good time with their roles. I'm not gonna argue that it's some classic of cinema, but it was a great rainy day flick, totally underserving of most of the trash talk thrown its way.
  22. I think it's been more than 2 days for me. I was happy to see the site was working smoothly today, for me at least.

    Yamato yf-11B

You do realize that the VF-11 Fast Pack version has a sturdier hip, right? I've had one since they were firt released, transformed it many times, even took the thing to work with me and played with it there, and I have had no problem with the hip breaking. Nor have I heard of the hip breaking on anyone else's.
  24. I'm surprised at some of the movies that did worse.
  25. I fear for that large, unprotected screen on the PSP. My GBA was worse for the wear after a year or two of service, and it was so much smaller. That's one thing I love about the DS, that it keeps the SP's clamshell design to protect the screen. As for looks, the PSP is prettier, but I don't think the DS is as bad as people complain. Also, I think the looks of the system case is hardly an issue, it's the games that matter.
