  1. Boy.. that's some chonky box for such a tiny kit.
  2. Thanks for the review, I did get mine, but I wasn't going to go out of my way to get it. It just happened to be convenient, since I had VIP points to burn toward finally picking up the DeLorean (which unfortunately arrived in a completely trashed box.. the Blacktron ship was in perfect shape though at least). I like the design as an update overall, but I think not including the transparent red fins did it a disservice. I might track down some of the original parts on the secondary market instead, or just leave them black, since the chunky look of adding transparent tiles on top of the fin doesn't really feel like a decent substitute. Stickers.. meh. I'll never use them, because they just wear off over time, and I'm surprised the sticker they did include is out of proportion with the original. If I can get an original printed nose for less than a kidney, I might grab one, but I might even just mask it off and spray the marking. Not a bad update to the design at least, and lot of good features packed in.
  3. I'm still waiting to see them attempt a less messed-up UCS Imperial Shuttle. There is just so much more they could do with that design if they used some of the ideas seen all across the internet in rebuilds and updates of that set. The base size is pretty good, but it badly needs new engines, a new nose, and a better wing mechanism.
  4. Those hoping for the Blacktron set, the site is up and functional now. Working a little slow, but I got through with not too much trouble.
  5. I was thinking the scenery looks like video, but could probably be MSFS, since it is fairly close to photo-real at this point. The cloud distribution and motion definitely give it away though. I was thinking it could be video with a CGI overlaid aircraft, but the clouds look very simulated.
  6. I guess I should say I'm not terribly concerned about not getting the bonus model. I'd love to be able to get it, but if the site gets hammered, I probably won't bother until a day or so later. I was quite happy to see I've got enough VIP points to get a DeLorean at half off though, so I'm going to finally grab one of those in the attempt.
  7. I don't actually think it's something it couldn't do, the uprated engines in the B did have that kind of power, and I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't an AI extrapolation of a real photo, or short video clip. Once you get closer, it starts looking more like a DCS video.
  8. Yeah, I was not expecting them to print anything at this point. We lucked out getting some new prints with Benny's spaceship, but that one was a one-off that I don't expect they'll bother with. I am glad I waited to pick up the DeLorean, since that'll at least put me in the bracket necessary for the set, but I have zero expectations after getting screwed out of the mini 89 Batmobile. The way they're treating the people buying these expensive sets is just turning into a dumpsterfire. I would absolutely love them to revisit some of the old Blacktron and Space Police designs, or even just the earlier Futuron sets that bridged the era between classic space and the newer helmet designs. Still have that old Alienator set, and I remember having a ton of fun with that and this little guy. I'd love to see them make a few of those new canopies in red.
  9. They did this for all of their 1/72 Macross Frontier and Delta kits too.. unfortunately they were all incomprehensibly terrible. Really nice to see this one coming with some decent looking decals. I think Bandai didn't even put "NO STEP" on the wings on the DX version.. they just stamped "171" everywhere for some reason.
  10. Holy cow, that's a must-have.. I just really hope they don't completely under-produce it like always seem to do with promotionals. I'd much rather see it sold separately.
  11. I'm guessing it's a screw cover of some sort, maybe from under the chest, or somewhere in the legs?
  12. I mean, of course they're better. Bandai finally moved from 1/100 scale into 1/60. Now if they'd just make a 1/48 pilot for their 1/48 VF-1....
  13. Wait, does the kit come with both cockpit options? Or did someone scratch build the canopy on that one? Seriously though, that is gorgeous. It warms my heart to, after over a decade, FINALLY see a 171 in something remotely resembling actual squadron markings. It looks so good without all of the Bandai splatter on the design.
  14. I would love to see them re-release that one, maybe in the new plastic packaging. If I could find some way to reproduce the plastic clamshell from the WWM release, I would love to repackage all of my VF-25s in those.
  15. Yeah, I know mine had that too, as well as some sort of little silhouette of the VF-1 that it was meant to mount to inside of that bubble. Mine was reboxed by Testors though, I remember that much. They were definitely a unique little thing, I was always a little confused why they included screws for certain parts, but still required you to glue it together.
  16. So I've wondered this for over 30 years at this point. What does "Pitaban" mean? Is that just some nickname they gave that line of kits? At the time I got one, I thought it was some alien name for the VF-1.
  17. Honestly, I'm at the point where I would much rather have exposed screws than screw covers I have to destroy to tighten the joints when they go floppy.
  18. Holy cow.. I.. kind of want to grab a pile of the old Testors/Nichimo 1/200 VF-1s, just because I think one of those may have actually been one of my first model kits ever. I remember playing with it at around age four. That is just an insane pile of awesome.
  19. Huh, not a terrible Tornado, though the Falcon just is a really bad platform for a transformer to begin with. The combined mode doesn't look great, but it was always pretty dorky. Anyhow, back to official stuff.
  20. Actually.. I was thinking of the original G1 combo of the F-16 and Tornado, but apparently the green one above was already Dreadwing. Granted, a much better looking version of him than the kibblemonster previously shown. I really would love to see someone pull off the original combo jet/bot though.
  21. Man, I would love so much to see a masterpiece-level Dreadwing pair someday, either official or third party.
  22. Yeah, this is no surprise. Given the issues I've seen coming from other manufacturers in China, I do not want them to rush to release this.
  23. Man, and I thought For Answer was a bad future.. I'm guessing that's a coronal ejection wrecking the planet? I'm amazed there's anything left to fight over.
  24. I like bother colors, so I'm not really torn over it, but I do think the HMR makes a nice cheaper option for if you want to try and weather one yourself, without wrecking the Arcadia version.
